"No, thank you, sir," I said politely. I took a few steps backward.
"I can't let you leave here. You know too much. make me chase you."
There was a silence that followed as we both stared at each other.
He stared at me for another moment before saying, "Then I guess you'll have to tell them soon enough. Is it my son or someone else?"
"Someone else, sir."
"And who is he?"
"No one important." I lied.
I couldn't bring Tristan into this conversation, not while I wasn't sure of what side Jonas and his father were on.
There was clearly no need to give such information to him anyways.
Cadwell frowned. "You're not married."
He just had to state the obvious.
Sigh!
I bit down on my bottom lip, wishing to swallow my intended words as I forced a smile right after.
