Raymond's heart thudded loudly. He could not take his eyes off of her.
Like a lost puppy, his sight followed her until she went into her room and closed the door after her.
'Is it the first time that my heart had ever beaten so fast? Did I even have a HEART?'
He placed a hand on his chest to feel the pounding rhythm.
'Indeed, my heart is beating.... but because of this girl....'
He was a vampire, but he was not....
A half vampire with a human mother and monster like father..... a romance that was doomed from the beginning. His poor mother died from childbirth, and his wretched father tore his heart out, joining her.
Leaving behind a small baby all alone in this world.
As a Halfling, his human heart still existed, but his vampire blood stopped him from living a normal life.
{For thousands of years he just passed by eating his fill with humans but as time went on his heart stopped beating becoming a cold stone.
Back then, his thoughts were a mess. 'Is it because I have had too many human hearts that I have become like this? Is it because of human blood that I've had that I'm suffering like this? Why was I born like this? This cursed body should not exist.' he blindly walked into a war zone.
Spears and arrows flew around, but he blankly walked in between.
"Behind you!" a young lad pulled him back and saved him from an upcoming sword. "Young man, where is your weapon? Here." he tossed a small word at him.
Blankly Raymond took it in hand. The hilt still had a retaining heat on it.
"Come on, this way." he dragged him over to a small boulder and hid behind. "Don't worry, kid, I'll take care of you," he smiled at him.
That smile.. melted his cold heart a bit. Raymond keenly looked at him.
Suddenly they were surrounded by men from all sides with weapon directed at them.
"Shit....."
"Do you want to live?" Raymond glanced at him without blinking.
"Yes, of course. Why would I want to die?"
"Then I shall help you." Raymond walked out and killed every single one of them with just his hand. Blood covered his entire body, making him feel warm like the sun.
For the first time in life, he felt happy with blood in his hands.
The young man glanced out, astonished.
"Young man, do you wish to follow me?"
"y—yes sir,"}
"Duke?" Fred worriedly looked at him. "I've ordered the deck to be cleaned. Don't worry. Just muffle your nose if you can,"' he whispered to him secretly.
Raymond smiled softly. This young assistant of his was the descendant of the young man who saved him from destitute and till now their bloodline remained loyal to him.
"What? Did you get a headache or worse, did your teeth pop out? Do you want me to hide you?" Fred fussed over him.
Raymond chuckled and patted his head. "I'm fine. Just make sure everyone is safe till I wake up. And get some rest as well. I don't want you collapsing on me."
"yes.... you are acting weird,"
"Shut up." Raymond waved at him and left to his room. Just after closing the door behind him, he collapsed. The blood lust he had been holding in erupted like a sleeping beast.
His teeth painfully elongated, piercing his bottom lip. His eyes turned a blinding red.
Most of all, his entire body burned... burned for blood.
Needed blood.
Lusted for blood.
All he could see was red...
"Shit, I—I need to eat..." he rushed to the wine cabinet and rummaged through the wines to find the highest concentration of blood in it.
At most he had only 60 percent blood wine with him.
He swiftly pulled off the cork and drank directly from it. Warm wine pouted in his throat, making him shiver. His blinding red eyes shone brightly as the taste of blood infiltrated his sense.
Gulp after gulp after gulp he drank from the bottle the heavenly liquid.
In just a few moments, he drank it all.
Holding the empty bottle, he sighed. "This did not help at all... I need blood."
He had never experienced blood lust like this one.
It hit him hard, the thousand year old hunger.
It ate at his stomach, urging him to drink human blood.
To devour human flesh...
"Agh... I can't do this. I don't want.... I don't want to drink blood..." he hugged his head and sat in the dark corner of his room.
Suddenly the door opened and small hesitant footsteps came in.
'Don't come in. Don't come in. Please.... leave me... leave or else I won't be able to control myself. Leave now...' he metal shouted, but on the outside his mouth was salivating.
He could feel this person's accelerated heart beat. His teeth itched to just take a bite out of this person's neck.
"Where is he? I thought he was here? I guess I'll just keep it here," the girl murmured and placed his coat on the table.
