Chapter 158 - Chapter 158: Shark Monsters

The team worked well enough when he was gone in facing the Sea Monsters and defended their area, judging by the number of Monsters killed and the hunter squad he just saved they weren't far of reaching four star rating.

It might be hard for a single mage to reach the four star Hunter Master level, but it wasn't all that hard for a Hunting squad to reach the same level, it was from that point the difficulty reversed.

The team also had gotten a brief respite when the Scarlet Rending demon's cry for help drew the Scarlet Soaring Demons away.

By the time Cao Guang had made it back the tide was about thirty five metres from the surface, large sea monsters were making an appearance now that the tide was at it's peak. Since it wasn't the rainy season or a storm, this was as convenient as it got for Sea monsters.

Cao Guang could faintly make out the shape of Sharks under and on the surface of the water.

Troublesome, the sharks are starting to make an appearance.

Sharks were the only Sea species that were among the best in strength individually and as a group. The other species like Sea Undead had unimaginable numbers but were Sevants on average and they didn't have any particular advantage in the Sea environment as most creature lost Elemental affinities after death, very few of them retained the ability to manipulate water.

Overall Sea Undead were among weakest Sea monsters individually, but they had terrifying numbers in the billions of members.

Other species like Viscera Hunters had great individual strength with the weakest of them being strong Warriors, but they had pitiful numbers when compared to the Undead.

But sharks were different they had about 400 million Warrior level ones in just the Pacific and Indian Ocean combined, and there were atleast two Emperors in these waters.

They were incredibly atleast a Standard Warrior or higher even when water level was slow, above all sharks had a variation the Sharkmen, they combined the physical prowess and defences of sharks with the ability to manipulate water of Sirens, both the Shark Emperors were Sharkmen, they only disadvantage was that their numbers were extremely small.

Sharkmen had lower bodies like sharks and a human torso with a shark head, it was indefinite how the Sharkmen came to be but the legends indicated a similar origin to the Medusae, only the evidence supporting this arguments were slim.

The sharks approaching their team were atleast standard Warriors and had rough scales covering them, the effects of classical elements would be weaken by these scales.

Cao Guang used his perception to make a quick count and estimated there were atleast 400 of them approaching his team. The only positive was that they didn't have a Commander leading them, Cao Guang estimated that his Fire and Lightning advanced spells would kill between 5 and 30 Warriors when he took all criterias into consideration.

A/n: Silent Deadly Bolt is a single target spell without much variation at the first tier.

" We need to be careful with these beasts, Gao Xuan prepare defences with me"

The team was set for an uphill battle with the sharks now. Gao Xuan established his innate domain, Magnificent Earth. Cao Guang and Zu Yuanjun concentrated the presence of Earth for him.

Cao Guang let Song Xia arrange the personel while he sent Fenrir to guard their back. He assessed his Nebulas and Galaxies with a quick peek.

The Summoning Galaxy could afford to keep Fenrir for a long time with his Innate Heavenly seed. The Space Galaxy was the most abundant, the Fire and Lightning Galaxies and his two Nebulae were half empty.

Cao Guang had no interest in handling the defences for now, he would let the experts like Gao Xuan and Zhong Yuan handle it. He had too little time to master the art like them.

" Li Kai and Mu Yinfeng try to bring the sharks closer together"

Cao Guang didn't need to direct the latter as her Ice would play a significant role anyways, her secondary Water might not be as impressive anyways.

Jiang Shaojun made use of the aggressive nature of sharks to bring them together and attack these humans while Du Ling applied an intermediate Blessing spell on him after the Healing spell.

Regardless of whether they got through this ordeal they needed Advanced spells to be performing above their level to survive. Cao Guang was indeed their best bet, even though they had requested back up.

As every body knew back-up rarely shows up on time.
