The group observed that the sea monsters were a kilometre or so away from the area. The tidal shift had begun early that morning, the rock layer had been removed by noon and now it was half past noon. The shadow of sea stacks weren't at their longest possible state but the group had no more time to wait.
The sea monster horde was slowly edging closer. While others kept an eye on shadows and the monster horde, Yao Nan started out by freezing a small area of water and creating a small and sustainable glacier.
Gao Xuan and Zhu Li got to work an builded a bridge down from the top of the sea stack. After all of them got down, the next stage of construction began. The sea monsters were now nine hundred metres away.
But the time they made it to seven hundred metres, some early form of fortifications had appeared but Cao and Song Xia did not wait for that and had plunged to the water.
The mine was at a depth of two hundred metres they needed Song Xia's speed to get there before they were overrun as for Cao Guang he was just there as a thug.
Song Xia deftly switched between different shadows as she crept closer to the energy dense area, she could feel the palpable mana exuding into the nearby water.
She picked up her tools from her belt as she struck to free a Galaxy Vein from the rocks holding it. It looked like an egg of pigeon only larger. Such a small thing could create an Advanced mage.
Each strike with her pickaxe had to measured and without harming the Galaxy Vein even slightly. The thing was useless if it cracked and lost all of its energy. It would be garbage by then. She had to be precise in every strike to mine the resource.
She moved on to the next Galaxy Vein as time was running out, the monsters were only four hundred metres away from them. Tensions were running high as the horde drew closer every second.
When they were about two hundred metres away Cao Guang gave the signal and Song Xia put the final Galaxy into her backpack as she felt a claw pull her up and accelerate her.
She quickly dispersed herself in to shadow to avoid injury from the boost. Sudden difference in fluid density was bound to damage her organs, but she needed the boost from Cao Guang's Space magic. She burst through the water surface as Yao Nan caught her with another Ice Lock.
Cao Guang spared no effort and turned into his possession state and accelerated himself out of water with haste when he was pierced by a claw through his abdomen.
As the monster horde came closer to the group fear had crept into their minds and there was nothing more pleasing to Viscera Hunters than the fear of those they considered prey.
Cao Guang had thought he had accounted for every possible contingency and planned ahead for but reality had proven him wrong as the beast pierced him repeatedly.
He could not afford to loose consciousness!
He pulled the last of his strength in conjunction with his worried daughter to launch a spell.
Hundred Burning Feathers
The feathers accelerated faster than he could handle and broke of the creatures claw as it remained in his body still wriggling.
After that... well he quite didn't remember much.
Gao Xuan could barely keep his calm when Little Flame Belle dragged Cao Guang's body as his friends talked him in to retreating now with Cao Guang.
Yao Nan made a make shift zip line with Ice Lock and dragged them on to the sea stack as Cao Guang completely lost consciousness.
