Cao Guang wanted to find out if there was a Heavenly seed fragment that he could buy to accelerate his daughter's growth, but no one was selling and he didn't have the strength to search for it. Her mother was concentrating on finding out if the Northern Burning Valley could give birth to one after using the resources Pang Lai allocated, but it was a long term project.
Cao Guang flew to Demon Capital on the second day of his training regime with his partners to meet Feng Zhuolong.
The guy was pretty much beeming with a glow one would see in pregnant mothers. His confidence would be through the roof on a Likert scale.
"Welcome little brother to the fore front of innovation"
" Why are you talking like that?"
" I am practicing my speech for tommorow..hehe I have a press conference you see. Now come on in"
Feng Zhuolong led him to the basement of Canton Tower, where his laboratory stood.
"Cao Guang, tell me what you know and think of Innate talents, just anything and everything don't filter it for me?"
"So, Innate talents are unique abilities possessed by mages on awakening or birth, they are so far non transferable, but not necessarily unique or uninheritable. I have heard that there are a few children who inherited talents of the parent"
" You are correct. But the inheritance ratio is one in every two million mages with innate talent. The chances of inheriting are non existent if both parents have innate talents themselves as well. Of course the child could go on to Awaken their own innate talent but that's a different story.
After drawing your blood this was my research direction. I also dabbled with testing to see if anyone could awaken a second talent or recreating that potion in aggregate but they all failed.
See, being a mage is a mutation of sorts. Mages have a slightly different gene sequence compared to ordinary people. But having an innate talent is like undergoing a second mutation. I have observed that mages with Innate talents have a different gene sequence compared to ordinary mages.
There are about twenty million mages in our country which is about one and a half percent of the people. About twenty five thousand people have innate talents which is slightly over .1 percent. If parents already have a secondary mutation gene why is it not possible for children to inherit it.
I know that this study is not concurrent with my wish of universally applicable discovery regarding magic but I have to start somewhere. Well the DNA I collected from you after taking the potion and the blood I collected of yours from before allowed me to bridge the gap.
Now I can, with my invention let people inherit the innate talents of parents. I think this finding could lay the foundation for more breakthrough in our understanding of magic."
Feng Zhuolong then went to explain more about how his technique worked with information and jargon that could put a Supreme Ruler like the Black Totem Snake to sleep. Cao Guang didn't disturb the guy when he was clearly in the zone and waited patiently and evaluated the consequences of this discovery.
"What are the requirements for this technique"
" I knew you would get to that sooner or later, but this is the part that makes me sad, So firstly the mage would have to have a single parent with an Innate talent and the mage would need to be a direct descendant.
When two parents have innate talents or if it isn't a direct descendant my technique reaches it's limit.
Secondly the Mage themselves should not have an innate talent. Another bottleneck that I can't seem to solve and Thirdly it costs a lot so only Advanced mages could afford it.
But there is room for improvement on the last part as long as I can do more experiments, but I won't. I will leave it to others and the magic association to figure that out. I have a new research direction with new funds that I have been allocated.
You wouldn't believe what it is, I want to take artificial production of Soul seeds to the next level and attempt to make a Heaven grade seed artificially. My colleagues laughed at me when I said it out loud, but I think it's possible. So how about it what do you think?"
If there were twenty thousand mages with innate talents, Feng Zhuolongs technique could let at least five thousand more people ot unlock their talents. It wasn't universal, nor would it help the average mage. But it was a start towards the vision the guy had.
Atleast he could more funds with such a reputable result under his name.
"It could be the beginning of something special"
Cao Guang simply gave the guy an honest opinion. He didn't have children yet so there was no need to kiss this guy's ass yet.
