Cao Guang and Dean Xiao chatted for another couple of hours. Dean Xiao rectified a few of the faults in Cao Guang's layout and he led the research section. Even if the Formation did become a reality Cao Guang would only be mentioned in the footnotes.
Even putting him down as a second author was a stretch. As soon as the idea was laid, Cao Guang escaped from all responsibility, leaving Dean Xiao with a pleasurable research to do all by himself.
Cao Guang joined the Space institute as he wanted and led a normal University life. He went to lectures and attended socials with his classmates and cultivated. He didn't reveal his Summoning element or his Fire element in his fights as he decided to wean himself off them.
Cao Guang's Summoning would make him undefeatable in both Outer and main Campuses. Who could fight a Great warrior and a stronger elemental creature on their own. Since he found himself to be too dependent on the element, he decided to train the younger brothers of Lightning and Space.
Only in a safe environment like a campus could he train the secondary elements as every military mission needed him to use his full strength. This was another reason why he wanted to join a university. He wanted to improve his individual prowess even further. He could feel them flat lining in the military.
His position needed him to take care of his men, and not charge in even more so after he became a Lieutenant.
His dual intermediate elements made him have the highest cultivation and strength in the freshman group. But he didn't reach the peak of his capability until a few weeks past and he got used to using just two elements.
After which he let the Space element and Lightning element break through to the second tier as well. By the end of the year he was a second tier intermediate mage in all his elements. The help provided by Little Tora pendant improved even further as it reached the peak of Star Nebula level. It wasn't possible to develop it to the next level without causing a draught for all the villages.
New year came, and Cao Guang continued his monotone but enjoyable lifestyle until Dean Xiao notified him about the academic exchange with Imperial College.
Imperial College was the strongest college in China for many reasons. It was closer to Potala Palace so many of the Sacred Hall mages sent their children there. Most of the aristocratic clans and families were based out of the capital and therefore they sent their children there as well.
Even if they weren't based out off Beijing, they slowly aspired to sent their children there anyway. Pearl institute could be said to be the second strongest and were somewhat in a high point in history.
Shanghai was the magic capital no doubt, but the recent graduates of their university were a class of their own. Shao Zheng and Dean Xiao were both graduates of the university in the last twenty five years.
Yet there existed a level difference between them as evidenced by the results of the academic exchanges. Dean Xiao's idea was simple, improve their performance and therefore improve their allocation of resources and then improve their Students.
As the capital University Imperial College was never going to have budget cuts even if they didn't improve. But for Pearl Institute it was different. Dean Xiao wanted to prove that the strongest fighters came out of rough times.
Cao Guang was a part of the squad naturally. The other members included Zhao Jing (Lightning primary) of the Zhao family, Lu Zhangtian (Light Primary) Lu Yilin's elder brother (the kid Mo Fan killed in revenge), Mu Hua (Fire primary), Mu Nu Jiao's elder brother among the prominent members.
Another than that it also had Yao Nan (Ice primary) a future disciple of Du Xiao, the newly elected Hunter King. Zhu Li (Earth primary), Zhu Meng's niece, Bai Hong a Healer Maga from Bai family. Nie Huan a Summoner and Nie Lengshan's older brother and finally Yan Liling a Wind Maga.
The journey to the capital was comfortable enough for Cao Guang as he communicated with some of the teammates and Professor Lu on the way. Many of future bigshots were just freshman this year, arrogant yet not as much as future, they had just been humbled by seniors after they joined Pearl Institute and had no face to show off.
And now they were traveling to the capital to fight the freshman of Imperial College. This was the chance for most of them to show off to their family or for mages like Yao Nan, Yan Liling, Nie Huan to gain resources and recognition of various forces.
