The group went on cautiously through half of the tunnel without an incident. The tunnel was indeed a good place to be ambushed by demon beasts.
Hence the group was suprised to find it empty so far as such situations probably signified stronger beast being there, if they did not see any monsters after another hundred metres they were ready to turn around and take a different route.
"Up ahead a group of monsters are making their way forward"
Brilliant Light, Gao Xuan no longer held back and made a Star Orbit and threw a source of light in front of him. The light made the beasts that looked like bipedal toads shriek loudly.
"Cavern Slaves, a type of demons that hide in dark places and ambush humans. They like crushing skulls and hate the light" Song Xia explained to the group the moment she recognised the creatures.
"If they hate the light, then annoy them anyway and don't let them crowd this tunnel"
Cao Guang shouted as he made another Star Orbit.
Red magic circles appeared beneath Cao Guang and Luo Heng as they cast the same spell.
Fire Burst Rupture
Greater Fire Burst
Flames emerged forward and struck the clueless Cavern Slaves as they tried to attack the skulls of the human mages. They quickly turned to ashes as the flame made contact.
They looked ahead and saw a pack of more than hundred Cavern Slaves making their way forward. Cao Guang and Luo Heng started making a Star Pattern each when they heard echoes of Cavern Slaves being tortured by Song Xia's spell.
Death Song Explode
Song Xia was able to connect the stars faster than ever, because of her break through. She could now connect a Star Orbit with a single thought. This was usually a manifestation of peak cultivation of intermediate level.
Song Xia hadn't exactly reached that level but with her innate talent it was no different. The only thing she lacked was the energy a third tier Star Nebulas held. It was far more than any second tier ones.
The Cavern Slaves were blasted to death with the vibrations. In a contained space like tunnels Sound magic seemed to be really effective as she cut down their numbers by a third.
Cao Guang and Luo Heng had no problem reducing the rest to ashes with their second tier spells that had spirit grade flames. Besides there was a little magic cannon infront who had been getting bored at first.
"Tunnel is too dangerous to be used when we are accompanying the students, we need to use the roads" Song Xia analysed as they made their way to the last hundred metres.
"There are Warriors ahead".
The warrior levels among Cavern Slaves were rare as diamonds, but they still did exist. The species were indeed weak but a few outliers made it to the warrior level. They were Scaled Cavern Beasts due to the scales covering them.
The scales offered protection to the beast as they were larger than simple Cavern Slaves. They had protuding bellies signifying a recent meal. Scaled Cavern Beasts used the bones of their victims as food rather than meat.
"Scaled Cavern Beasts, Start with Lightning"
Cao Guang said to Luo Heng.
Their Lightning maybe a level lower than their Fire spells, but lightning in general ha d etter prenatrating capabilities.
Two pairs of Exploding Apexes came from the skies as it struck the Cavern Beasts on their skulls. The group had more than enough synergy to coordinate their spells. If Cao Guang and Luo Heng attacked warriors or monsters that could dodge, Gao Xuan and Song Xia kept them in place as much as possible with Giant Shadow spikes and Earth Waves.
Besides Gao Xuan's Innate Soul seed made it hard for any Warrior levels to move. Little Flame Belle handled the third Scaled Cavern Beast without a hitch when she was recalled by Cao Guang.
The Cavern Beasts were vulnerable after the lightning struck and a stronger attack would end them.
Meteorite Fist Ground Break
Fiery Fist Ground Break
Flames emerged from the ground beneath and engulfed the three Warriors as Song Xia prepared a Stronger blow to act in conjunction with the Fiery Fists.
The group soon emerged out from the tunnels after Cao Guang directed a complete Soul Essence to his Soul Container. The High school was only a kilometre from the railway tunnel.
As soon as the group left the tunnel, they could see a black mist surge into there like the plague, the tunnel was unusable for their return.
