The next morning, in the chief's tent.
"So, please take out your items for the trade." The tall chief of the barbarian tribe, Shabili, sat on a chair made of animal hide in the centre of the tent and looked at the four of them.
Bond didn't move, but gave Locke, Raphael and Gauss a look instead. He was here to trade with his family's wealth, so it wasn't a good time to be the first to step forward.
It wasn't just because he didn't want to flaunt his wealth, but also because he was considerate of his friends. In the past, their family's strength alone was enough to trade for all the blood essence produced by the teru.
Raphael was the first to step forward. He'd had a lot of fun last night, so he had no choice but to bring out some good stuff after being treated so well.
Two wooden boxes and a golden card suddenly appeared in Raphael's hands.
Shabili furrowed his brows. He could tell that it was the effect of spatial equipment.
"A box of woodleaf grass, a box of recovery potion, and a golden card that can be exchanged for a thousand gold moores." As expected of the richest of the four, Raphael's first move was extraordinary, especially the most valuable one thousand gold moores that he'd pulled out without any preparation.
Woodleaf grass had the effect of calming the nerves and relieving pain. It could be taken orally or applied externally, so it was well-loved by many knights. Raphael had it with him mainly because it was good to make tea with.
Needless to say, recovery potions were more effective than woodleaf grass. Even Locke had to bring a few with him every time he went on a mission.
Chief Shabille stood up and walked over. He personally opened the wooden box and examined it. There were pieces of silver almond leaves in the rectangular wooden box. He took one of them out and put it in his mouth. "The quality is not bad!"
He then opened the wooden box of recovery potions, revealing two rows of eight white recovery potions. They didn't need to be tasted. Anyone who knew how to open the cork and smell them would be able to tell if they were genuine.
Shabili returned to his seat after checking the items, not even bothering to look at the golden card.
"I'll give you ten grams of blood essence in exchange for these two boxes!" Although it was a simple statement, everyone could hear an unquestionable tone in it. This was the unique pressure of a more powerful creature.
Raphael's face darkened. Not only because of Chief Shabille's tone, but also because he didn't want his gold card. That was the biggest part of the deal.
As if he could read Raphael's mind, Chief Shabille organized his words and said, "Transactions can only be done in cash. I can't bring my people to your city to exchange."
Chief Shabille was usually a man of few words. It was rare for him to explain something like this to Raphael. It was clear that this burly man wasn't as unreasonable as he looked.
Since Shabille, a high-rank Knecht, had said so, Raphael had no choice but to put on a sullen face. He put away his gold card and took a small wooden box from a maidservant.
Raphael opened it and saw a fingernail-sized blood-red crystal lying in it. Strands of rich Blood Qi emanated from it.
Next was Gauss.
Two black fist-sized crimson gold ores, a few recovery potions and around three hundred gold moores. This was probably all the money Gauss had on him.
A few recovery potions and three hundred gold moores in exchange for blood essence was normal. What surprised them was that Chief Shabille actually chose to exchange fifteen grams of blood essence for the two crimson gold ores. This was more than what Raphael could get.
"Looks like Gauss has scratched Chief Shabille's itch," Bond chuckled. Bond chuckled at Locke. "There aren't any ores in the grasslands. Even though the two crimson gold ores are small, they can still be used to make weapons. High-rank Knechts like Chief Shabille will need the appropriate equipment to increase their combat power." "That's right," said Bond.
Locke nodded and it was his turn.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. A random assortment of items appeared on the ground. Not only did Chief Shabille stare blankly for a moment, but the jaws of his companions dropped to the ground as well.
There were five strengthening potions that could increase the strength of low-rank Knechts and mid-rank Knechts, one crimson potion, four recovery potions, two antidotes, a light blue heavy armour, five hundred gold moores and a bunch of materials from major monsters.
Raphael was the first to wake up. He patted Locke's shoulder and said, "Hey, Locke, do you have so many strengthening potions that you don't know where to put them? Why don't you sell them to me? I'll buy them at a high price! And that crimson potion! "
"Are you crazy?" Bond said. Strengthening potions weren't that useful to mid-rank Knechts like them, but crimson potions were different. The blood essence they exchanged for this time was equivalent to the crimson potion in terms of effect and value.
"Tsk tsk." Gauss didn't say anything and just smacked his lips.
"I'll take all of these!" Chief Shabille's voice was loud and firm.
"Five strengthening potions for ten grams of blood essence, one crimson potion for fifteen grams, six recovery potions for ten grams, five hundred gold moores for five grams of blood essence, and that armour..." Chief Shabille walked over and picked up the heavy armour. It was heavy for a regular person, but it seemed weightless in Chief Shabille's hands.
"I'll give you twenty grams of blood essence for this armour!" Chief Shabille looked at the light blue heavy armour with the same expression that Locke usually had when he looked at Angelina and the other girls: infatuated and cherished.
Locke was very satisfied with the final result of the transaction. He got a total of 60 grams of blood essence, which could be said to be a huge profit. He only needed to use 10 grams at most for himself. He could sell the rest or give it to his friends for a good profit.
In contrast to Locke's satisfaction, Bond kept grumbling, "What a loss! What a loss!" It could be said that the three of them had exchanged for half of Chief Shabille's stock. Although Bond's transaction was much larger, he wouldn't be able to explain it to his family when he returned.
The three of them didn't participate in the final transaction between Bond and Chief Shabille. They were only there to accompany Bond. The deal between Bond and Chief Shabille was the real deal.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier that you had such good stuff? I'll give you a better price!" Raphael was speechless. Be it strengthening potions or crimson potions, they were both used to enhance a knight's strength. Almost no one would trade them directly. Most people would barter with them.
Raphael said a better price, which meant that he'd still trade them in gold moores. However, he'd definitely give Locke a satisfactory price.
"We'll talk about it next time!" Locke didn't give Raphael an answer. He did have a few strengthening potions with him for Laffey and Kristin, but Angelina was now an alchemist. There was no guarantee that she wouldn't be able to brew a strengthening potion in the future.
Raphael felt that there was hope after hearing Locke's words. He stepped forward and high-fived Locke.
