Chapter 197 - Invite again

"I know where I can get it," whispered Bond as he pulled Locke aside.

"I'm not interested." Locke pushed Bond away and returned to the group.

Blood essence could indeed enhance mid-rank Knechts like them, but there were also drawbacks. Locke had read in books that blood essence would form impurities in the human body, which would be detrimental to the advancement of one's strength in the future.

There were many treasures that could increase the success rate of advancement, so Locke didn't want to waste his time on one.

"Hey, hey, hey." Seeing that Locke wasn't interested, Bond continued, "It's the kind of blood essence that has minimal side effects on the body."

Now, Locke was a little interested in the blood essence that Bond was talking about. He turned around and looked at Bond, waiting for him to continue.

"I'll take you there after we return to the country." Bond promised, but he didn't elaborate on the details.

They were still at the border between Osdale and Aomar, so they could see the northernmost scenery everywhere they looked.

Whether it was the rolling foothills or the row of geese flying southwards, it made the hot-blooded knights want to roar.

The journey back was much easier than when they came. There weren't any urging from the higher-ups, nor was there any sense of tension or pressure from the upcoming mission. It was as if they had fun all the way back.

Through chatting with his subordinates, Locke found out that the regular army of Aomar didn't go to war often. They would only fight a tough battle once every few years.

Moreover, most of the battles were to help subordinate kingdoms suppress rebellions.

The troops that were sent out were generally the top elite corps of the empire. For example, their five-thousand-strong corps could be ranked in the top five among the border garrison corps.

Seeing the powerful combat power of this corps, Locke suddenly thought that if Faustian hadn't attacked Shalor and the war had dragged on, would Aomar have intervened as well?

Locke wasn't confident that the four major corps of Faustian could stop such a corps with the strength of beginner-rank Knechts and above.

Unless Faustian sent out Ritter powerhouses, Aomar would definitely have such powerhouses as well. In fact, they would be much more powerful than Faustian.

In this war, Locke didn't find any traces of Ritter fighting. It was as if there was an invisible shackle restricting their movements.

Locke suddenly thought of the Sanctum's rules and the Hall of Knights' restrictions.

As his experience grew, the Sanctum and the Hall of Knights became clearer and closer to him. These two factions, which had never appeared among the commoners, secretly controlled everything on the continent.

After crossing the Northern Mountains and the fast-flowing Odak River, the vast plains of the Aomar Empire appeared before their eyes.

When they arrived, the soldiers separated from the academy's knights. Locke gave his men a few cheap potions as a gift and waved them goodbye.

Although they had only been fighting together for three to four months, this was how it was on the battlefield. If you could trust your back to your teammates, your relationship would sublimely sublimate, and tacit understanding would be born.

Potions that were worthless to Locke weren't so valuable to the soldiers who had been in the army for a few years. Whether it was the boiling blood potion that could temporarily increase strength or the red dressing potion that could heal external injuries, they were synonymous with expensive items in the eyes of the soldiers.

Even if they saved up a year's worth of pay, they might not be able to afford even one of the potions.

Locke's generosity spread far and wide among the gratitude of his soldiers.

What he wanted to say was that he really didn't spend much. These potions were Angelina's practice. Since they wouldn't be of much use to him, he simply gave half of them to the soldiers.

Locke's' kindness' and 'generosity' spread far and wide after he left the garrison. Two years later, he received quite a surprise because of it.

Raphael, Bond and Gauss didn't return to Princeton with Locke.

They were all born and bred in the Aomar Empire, and their families were scattered all over the place. After completing the mission that had lasted for more than four months, it was time for them to return home. The four parted ways at Dietke City on the banks of the Aodak River.

Raphael headed east. His home was in the eastern province of Dinar. Bond headed southwest. He was from Modesai. Gauss took a boat west along the Ondak River. Winsel City was on the upper reaches of the Ondak River, which belonged to his family's territory.

Locke followed the rest of the troops and headed south to Princeton.

Before they parted ways, he and Bond had discussed that they would meet again in July to get the blood essence that Bond had mentioned.

Locke had been in the vast Aomar Empire for more than two years. Even though he often went on missions, he hadn't been to most of the cities. He had only been to a few dozen of the ten thousand cities that represented the Nation of Myriad Cities.

He stayed in Forrest City, which was known as the City of Romance, for two days to admire the city's famous jasmine flowers and buy some local specialties for his family. Then, he set off on his journey back to Princeton.

Locke returned to Princeton in the middle of May. Angelina, Glace and the others at home, as well as Billie, Irene and the others at school, all of them warmly welcomed him back.

For this battle mission, the Royal Academy had spent half a month recruiting in the Mission Hall to gather more than three hundred Academy Knights. With such a big fanfare, every student in the Royal Academy was aware of this matter.

Unfortunately, they were stuck at the threshold of a mid-rank Knecht, so most of the students didn't meet the requirements.

Casters weren't recruited. Every loss of one of the empire's talented casters on the battlefield was a loss to the empire.

On the second day of his return, Locke received an invitation from Joaquin and the others.

"Trial missions during the holidays?" Locke looked at them curiously.

Princeton's trial missions existed every semester. Last summer's trial mission, which was to exterminate the ghosts, was completed by Locke and the girls. The process was extremely dangerous.

Last winter, he wasn't able to participate in the mission that Angelina and the others had chosen because he was in the Myriad Mountains in the northwest of Aomar looking for the stone brown bear that had been marked by the academy.

However, he heard from Angelina that they had finally completed the small mission to eliminate the vampire bats.

The bats were only at the level of a minor monster. Apart from their large numbers, the five casters and two knights had killed all the living creatures in the cave in just one afternoon.

Joaquin and Angelina's fire spells were especially effective against these little creatures that were afraid of light and fire. ()
