Chapter 157 - campus

The next morning, Locke went to the same classroom again. Henry was still sitting next to him.

It was the beginning of January. There was still a month before the academy started, but there were already many students at the academy.

Henry introduced Locke to a lot of things. It turned out that the curly-haired man on the podium yesterday wasn't their tutor. Instead, he was some sort of administrator who taught them how to behave.

Henry had already studied at Princeton Academy for a year and was proficient in all aspects.

The reason he came to the academy a month earlier was to give the students a chance to learn on their own. "The tutor won't force you to learn. You'll have to rely on yourself for everything," said Henry.

Locke nodded thoughtfully.

However, the students in the classroom were just chatting in groups for the entire morning. Locke didn't see any learning atmosphere at all.

"It'll be good for you in the future if you make more friends!" Henry tugged at Locke, wanting to introduce him to his friends. However, Locke only greeted them and wasn't interested in hanging out with them anymore.

Locke wondered if he'd gone to the wrong classroom or the wrong grade when he saw a group of beginner-rank servants.

Whether it was the strength of their arms when they walked or the frequency of their breathing, Locke could clearly feel that these classmates of his were just for show. Their impetus waves were real.

Henry had only been in school for a year, and Locke felt that he could defeat him with one hand.

Locke rejected Henry's suggestion to eat with them and went to Perseverance Academy's library alone.

Although the students he'd seen so far were mediocre, the teachers were all stronger than the other.

School hadn't started yet, so there were only two or three teachers on duty in the huge library. However, Locke didn't dare to be presumptuous with these unassuming teachers.

He respectfully handed his badge to a teacher on duty. The slightly balding old man took the badge and felt it. "A new student?"

After getting an affirmative answer from Locke, the teacher said, "1000 points. You can study in this library for a thousand hourglasses."

A small funnel with purple gravel hung silently in the air from the ceiling. One hourglass lasted for about a minute.

As he wasn't sure how he got his points, he only stayed in the library for ten minutes before he left. The teacher on duty swiped his badge, and he felt that it had become lighter. He wasn't sure if it was an illusion, but he felt that his badge had become lighter.

After leaving the library, he went to the stud field in Princeton. The stud field was located in the middle of the four knight faculties. The number of students there had increased significantly, and he even found a few students who were stronger than him.

Locke's code of conduct was to avoid provoking those who were stronger than him.

He finally knew why Princeton was known as the best academy in Aomar.

Locke could actually feel the impetus of a low-rank Knecht from a teenager who looked only thirteen or fourteen years old. A few knights who were obviously younger than him were already mid-rank Knechts.

Locke's strength and age had always been the subject of compliments in Faustian, but it seemed that everything had been broken today.

This was only a corner of the stud field. It was said that this vast field could hold three thousand cavalry for training.

The trainers whizzed past the fence in front of Locke. In terms of riding skills, the knights in training armour were miles ahead of him.

Locke's riding skills were all taught by Wyr when he was in the cavalry platoon. Because it hadn't been long, he didn't learn much. He could only sprint a little, but he couldn't do anything else. Locke's blood was boiling as he looked at the knights on horseback making all sorts of attacks.

He felt that he could do the same, or even better.

After leaving the stud field, Locke went to the swimming pool, training ground, testing ground, park and other places that he was interested in.

Finally, he returned to the canteen.

Locke touched the few gold moores in his pocket, sat in the corner of the hall on the first floor, and ordered a three-penny grilled fish.

This was the first time Locke had seen food priced at gold coins.

He ordered two slices of bread and a red short-tailed fish that he'd never seen before. It cost him two gold moores and he really wanted to ask the chef if he was robbing him.

However, it tasted really good. Locke picked up his knife and fork, cut a piece of fish, and savored it.

"This food is made from a monster swallowtail. Is it good?" A blonde woman with a ponytail sat opposite him uninvited.

Locke noticed that she was the one who'd been eating on the right side of him.

"Swallowtail? It does taste good, "said Locke. Perhaps it was because he'd been with Angelina and Glace for too long that he'd developed the habit of not talking much during meals.

He ignored a good-looking lady who tried to strike up a conversation with him and continued to eat the food on his plate.

"It's delicious, but it's too expensive." The woman pouted. Her family was considered wealthy in Aomar, but they were nothing in the capital. They could only eat the cheapest bread and meat sauce for every meal.

However, it wasn't cheap either. It cost a whole gold moores, and she had to spend most of her pocket money on meals every month.

Locke's swallowtail cost two gold moores, which was one grade higher than hers.

Locke didn't look like a noble from his attire and behaviour, so the woman came over to talk to him out of curiosity.

"I'm Elaine. What's yours?" asked the woman.

Locke was still chewing on the meat in his mouth when he answered, "Locke."

"An elegant noble should finish his food before talking to his guest," said Elaine with a smile. Locke's behavior earlier had tickled her. She'd rarely seen such an honest person before.

Locke rolled his eyes at her, mimicking Angelina's.

This attracted Irene's incessant chatter.

"Dear, you're really here!" A melodious voice rang out.

Locke almost spat out the fish in his mouth when he heard it.

Angelina had appeared not too far away from him. It was obvious that she'd been standing there for a long time. As a member of the royal family, she had to maintain her composure, so they'd only been holding hands and hugging. Locke had never heard her say such bold words in front of outsiders before.

Angelina walked over with small steps and sat next to him.

"Have you eaten?" asked Locke.

"No, but I've ordered something. I'll go get it later." Angelina flicked her hair and quietly pushed Elaine to the side.

"Why are you eating here?" asked Locke curiously. The caster faculties had their own canteen.

"I missed you, so I came to see you," said Angelina coquettishly.

Locke was speechless. They'd just entered the school together in the morning.

She didn't feel awkward sitting next to a stranger at all. Instead, she chatted with Locke expressionlessly as if there was no one around her.

"Joaquin used a fireball to burn the hair of a man who was pursuing her today."

"Yeah."

"Daenie said that she's learned Rain Summoning."

"Yeah."

.....

Joaquin was the woman with fiery red hair and an impressive figure from yesterday. Daenie was Angelina's new friend. She was the closest to Angelina and was said to have a head of ocean-blue hair.

Seeing that Locke and Angelina were chatting happily, Elaine said goodbye to Locke and got up to leave.

When she was far away, Angelina's gentle smile changed. "Tell me, who is she?"

Locke guessed it. The more time he spent with Angelina, the more he realised that she wasn't as gentle as she appeared to be. She was a possessive princess.

"We just met. I think her name is Elaine?" explained Locke.

"Really?" Angelina asked suspiciously. She originally wanted to give him a surprise today, but she didn't expect to see him sitting and eating with a good-looking woman. Needless to say, she felt terrible.

"Really," said Locke confidently.

Angelina didn't pursue the matter further. Although she was possessive, she didn't care about Locke's playboy attitude. She believed that Locke would choose her in the end. She was confident.

"Have you bought food for Angie?" asked Locke as he thought of something.

Angelina's face fell. "Not yet. Do you want to go to Princeton in the afternoon?"

"Okay, I'll go with you."

Angie was Angelina's familiar. It was a green scorpiondrake that finally hatched half a month ago.

Locke was the one who gave it the name. It was simple and easy to remember. Angelina didn't object to it. Instead, she liked it because it was related to her name.
