Chapter 86 - Human relations

The silver-haired old man, Peter, glanced at George, then at Locke, who was behind him, and said, "For a precious potion like this, the logistics department has to keep a record. Whoever took it and who it was used on has to be recorded."

"Okay." George seemed to know the rules. He turned around and called Locke over. "You'll need to report your serial number and name later. You'll also need to leave a fingerprint at the end."

"Yes, sir!" Locke replied like a sensible soldier.

The one who recorded the records was the woman named Fina behind the silver-haired old man. She was holding a large notebook in one hand and a quill in the other, quickly scribbling on it.

George had to record more information because he was the one who took the potion, the one who paid for it and the guarantor of the user. Locke's information wasn't recorded as he was only the user.

"Name?"

"Locke."

"What's your position?"

"Deputy jarl of Falcon's 2nd Division's 2nd Cavalry Platoon."

It was as simple as that. After that, the people in the logistics department would verify the name and confirm that there was such a person. With Division Commander George here, of course, everything went smoothly.

In the end, Locke got his hands on a small, beautifully packaged wooden box. Inside it was his biggest reward of the night, the will-condensing potion. There were also three strengthening potions in the back pocket of his trousers that were similarly packaged as the will-condensing potion.

"You're probably the richest person in 2nd Division now!" joked the division jarl.

They had already left the logistics department and were now walking towards 2nd Division's camp.

Locke didn't take it seriously. He was far wealthier than this division jarl. How could he become the richest person just because of a few potions?

"It's all thanks to you, sir!" Locke was a good talker and praised George at the right time.

"Haha!" George patted Locke's shoulder, seemingly enjoying Locke's compliments.

When they were about to reach their camp, George didn't follow them in. It was getting late and he needed to go back and rest.

"Goodbye then, young man!" George didn't act like a division jarl in front of Locke. Instead, he said goodbye with a smile.

Locke felt that this division jarl was very similar to the fat nobleman he met not long ago. They were both quite nice to him. "Lord George, do you know a Viscount named Melson?" he asked with a sudden thought.

"Melson?" Division Commander George was startled. The fat on his face quivered. "You know my nephew?"

Well, so they were a family. No wonder their body shapes were so similar.

After he returned to camp, he greeted Cardoj, Yoshk, and the others and returned to his tent. There was no food left at this hour, but fortunately, he had eaten a lot of dry rations on the way to the fortress today, so he wasn't very hungry now. He planned to eat breakfast the next day.

Cardoj and Yoshk were probably thinking the same thing. Both of them returned to their own tents.

Division Commander George was on the way to the division headquarters with his clerk when a woman ran in front of them while panting and called out to them.

George, who was a high-rank Knecht, recognized her from afar. She was Funa from the corps logistics department.

"Grandpa wants you to go now, Uncle George!" Fina said, stroking her heaving chest.

The grandpa she was referring to was the silver-haired old man, Peter.

Around twelve o'clock in the morning, George, who was supposed to be sleeping with a beautiful maid in his tent, was now standing in a warehouse somewhere in the corps logistics department.

"You better give me a reasonable explanation! Peter! Otherwise, I'll show you how powerful I am! "George opened his huge mouth and spat at the silver-haired old man in front of him. As he spoke, a violent impetus burst out of George's fat body. It seemed that disturbing a fatty's sleep was a very serious matter.

The silver-haired old man wiped the table in front of him with a piece of cloth. There was a lot of George's saliva on the table. But strangely, not a single drop of it splashed on the silver-haired old man. A layer of light green impetus barrier loomed around Peter's body. He was also a high-rank Knecht!

"How dare you say that!" Peter said without blinking. Although his voice was very low, it could be heard clearly. "You didn't even tell me the identity of the young man you brought!"

Hearing the silver-haired old man's words, George rolled his eyes and said stubbornly, "He's just an ordinary petty officer!"

Although he was still stubborn, he had already suppressed the impetus hurricane that he had triggered earlier. Peter was stronger than him, and he didn't want to fight with him in such a place.

"How could an ordinary petty officer make Prince Kenzir, Margrave Marmen, and even Princess Angelina record such a large amount of military merit for him?" The silver-haired old man looked very angry. Although his voice was not loud, his tone was very unfriendly.

"Ugh..." George touched his fat head and asked in disbelief, "Is it that exaggerated? Did they all allocate military merit to him? "

"Hmph! How could it be fake? " Peter was so angry that his beard was blown up. "If I hadn't been careful and asked Fina to go to the military to check on this young man's background and file, I wouldn't have known that he was a person with a name on it."

"Tell me, what the hell is going on? Why would Marmen and Prince Kenzir personally allocate military merit to a petty officer? Even the princess was involved?" George really didn't know that Locke was valued by so many big shots.

Seeing that George really didn't seem to know anything, Peter's beard fell down and he said to him, "The will-condensing potion you took today, according to this kid's military merit, can be exchanged for three potions!"

George's eyes widened in disbelief. "How is that possible? Even a count like me would have to go through a lot of trouble to exchange for three of these potions. How much military merit did the margrave and the prince give this kid? "George's fat face was full of disbelief.

Prince Kenzir and Marmen represented the will of the higher-ups of Faustian. They wouldn't make such a mistake in such a small place. Giving Locke so much military merit would cause misunderstandings among the other nobles. George didn't believe that the prince and margrave would promote a greater noble among the commoners.

"The margrave and the prince are fine. Although they gave him a lot of military merit, it's reasonable. Added up, it can only be exchanged for one will-condensing potion," said Peter. This also explained why the prince and margrave didn't have any ulterior motives.

"The problem is Princess Angelina," Peter continued. "The rest was given to him by the princess! A full 4,000 military merit. Even an old man like me is envious. "Peter touched his silver hair, and there was no lack of envy in his words.

Thinking that it turned out that Angelina was the main culprit, Peter felt relieved. He probably guessed the reason and whispered to Peter, "Princess Angelina was saved by this kid!"

"So that's how it is!" Pete suddenly understood and nodded.

Whether it was George or the silver-haired old man, Peter, they didn't think much of it. They all thought that the princess was repaying Locke for saving her life.

"Fortunately, I didn't mistreat him and gave him so many benefits!" George suddenly said complacently. Locke had taken advantage of him, but not only was he not angry, he was very happy instead. Locke, who was under the care of three big shots, couldn't be treated casually even if he was a division jarl.

Suddenly, as if thinking of something, George asked Peter, "The princess doesn't have an actual position in the army, so where does she get so many military merits to give to others?" Only deputy jarls and above had the right to reward soldiers with military merits in their own names.

Peter put away the rag he used to wipe the table and said, "I just found out that the princess is now one of the people in charge of the caster unit."

George was speechless. If one were to ask who was the wealthiest in the army, it would definitely be this group of magicians. They had the priority to use all the resources in the army. The princess was one of the people in charge of the magic army, so of course, she also had a lot of power. This group of rich magicians might not be interested in a mere portion of the military merits.

Of course, the princess being appointed as one of the people in charge of the magic unit was enough to show Kenzir's love for his sister. With Angelina's beginner-rank Lehrling rank, it was impossible for her to take on this position.

The reason why the prince made this appointment was probably to protect Angelina. In addition to a large number of soldiers protecting Angelina, there was also such a large group of casters by her side. If Angelina wanted to be in danger again, it would be impossible unless Clark Gable, the god of war, came back to life and led the Shalorian army.

George and Peter, the silver-haired old man, subconsciously raised Locke's status by a few levels. The next time they met, they couldn't neglect him. He was the princess' savior. At least in Faustian, he had a golden token of immunity as long as the current king and successor Prince Kenzir were still alive.

While the two in the logistics department were discussing Locke's background, he was sleeping soundly. Now that there were too many people, it was not good for Suzanne to stay in Locke's tent. He could only rest alone for the next few days.

Early the next morning, when Locke got up and was about to go to the training ground, a person from their camp who he barely interacted with appeared.

"Herr Wyr, are you looking for me?" Locke opened the curtain of his tent and a middle-aged man in armour appeared in front of Locke's tent. Looking at the dew on Wyr's armour, it seemed that he had been waiting here for a long time.

"Yes, Locke, I'm looking for you." Wyr didn't give him the strong pressure he did when he first taught him impetus. He must have restrained his aura. It was just like George and the silver-haired old man who were with him yesterday.

"How can I help you?" He was a high-rank Knecht and a noble with a knighthood. Locke didn't expect Wyr to be looking for him.
