Chapter 9 - Passion

Locke strode up the stairs with the steamy lady in his arms. Under Suzanne's guidance, they arrived at the innermost room upstairs. He rudely kicked the door open and threw the lady in his arms onto the big bed in the middle of the room. He quickly stripped off his clothes and pounced on Suzanne. For a moment, the whole room was filled with lust.

After the clouds dispersed and the rain stopped, the room finally quieted down. Only the sound of the two of them panting could be heard in the quiet room. The bright moonlight shone through Tian Zige's window in the room. Suzanne hugged Locke's left arm, her reddish cheeks making her look even more attractive. She wished that time could stop at this moment forever.

After venting, Locke's body and mind felt relaxed. He suddenly remembered the small black stick in the drawer of Yoshk's tent. It was said to be called a cigar. The baron had given it to him as a reward. He had seen Yoshk light it up and take a puff or two after every meal, then immediately put it out and wait for the next time. The comfortable look on Yoshk's face after smoking the cigar was still vivid in his mind. Locke wondered if it would be perfect to have a cigar now.

The beautiful lady boss was currently hugging Locke lazily, her head resting on his chest. She looked indescribably cute and helpless. Locke was also hugging the woman in his arms. Although he wasn't a good person, he wasn't cold-blooded either. Previously, he didn't help the lady boss because they didn't know each other. The only good impression he had of her today was used up. But now that the two of them had such a relationship, he had to think of a way to help the lady boss. He didn't want his woman to really become a prostitute in the future.

Just as Locke was thinking about the future, Suzanne enjoyed the warm embrace of this man who was much younger than her. She looked up at Locke and frowned from time to time. Her heart ached a little. She whispered, "The wine in the tavern can still be sold for a week. As long as no one comes to rob us, we can still make a lot of money. I'll use the money to find a job in the occupied area. You don't have to worry about me."

Locke was still thinking about something. When he heard the lady's words, he blurted out without thinking, "How is that possible? You can only earn two silver coins a week at most. What can you do with it?" Two silver coins was indeed enough for her to live comfortably for two months or even longer in the hinterland of Faustian or the small village in Locke's hometown, but not in the occupied areas. Now that the knowledgeable people of Shalor could see that the kingdom was on the verge of collapse, a large number of merchants and assets were pouring into Bideslane to become Faustian citizens. It was said that even the nobles of Shalor had begun to 'surrender'. Although it was chaotic now, the standard of living there was not much worse than that of a big city or even the royal capital, Felor. With her meager amount of money, it would be considered good if she could live there for a week.

Suzanne's heart sank when she heard Locke's words, and she subconsciously hugged Locke tightly. After being hugged by the lady boss, Locke realised that his words had hurt the beautiful woman. He comforted her, "Don't worry, I'm not the kind of person who wipes his mouth clean after eating. I'll help you." "Really?!" exclaimed Suzanne excitedly when she heard Locke's words. "Of course, I'm thinking of something," said Locke.

It had been a long time since Suzanne had been cared for like this. Even if there were, it would be someone with bad intentions. They were either after her beauty or her money. Although it was possible that Locke was helping her because of her beauty, she discarded that thought. She wanted to be Locke's woman. Who wouldn't like a man with power and power, even if this man's power and power were still small? "You're the person who's treated me the best in all these years. I won't look for another man. I'll be your lover." Suzanne suddenly said in a low voice.

Locke also heard it. It seemed to him that this beautiful lady boss was not just interested in him, but wanted to be his woman. Who didn't like beautiful women? Besides, Locke was just a soldier with no power or influence. In the past, if he wanted to find a beautiful woman, he could only go to the military supply camp and dream about it. He also held the beautiful woman in his arms tightly and said, "Have you really thought it through? I might unfortunately die in battle one day. "

"Don't talk nonsense! Of course I've thought it through. If you die in battle, I'll take you in and become a widow for you! " Although they had only spent one day together, Suzanne had made up her mind to follow this little man from now on.

"Hey, the person who can kill me hasn't been born yet. Don't worry, I've been through all kinds of battles. How can I make a mistake at the end?" Locke said with a smile.

"Mm …" Suzanne replied in a low voice.

The two of them were very excited by each other's expression of affection. They hugged each other on the bed and talked about their past. Locke found out that this woman was called Suzanne, 23 years old. She was from this town. Her parents died of illness when she was very young, and only her brother was still alive. Because there were only two siblings in the family, she had to rely on herself from a young age. She sold wooden stools and tables made by her brother in town. Because she was quick-witted, she also worked part-time at the inn and knew a few words and some basic arithmetic. Later, at the age of 17, she was introduced by a matchmaker to her husband, who ran a tavern. However, less than a year after she was married, the war broke out. Although she was talented and wanted to run the tavern well, four years of war, turmoil, and poverty had extinguished her enthusiasm. Her husband also did not have much affection for her and was later abandoned by him. She thought that this was the end of her life.

After hearing about Suzanne's life, Locke's heart ached. This woman's experience was much worse than his. At least his parents and relatives were still alive, and he was a man. He could do anything, but how did this woman bear such a heavy burden? He comforted Suzanne and promised her that he would definitely not let her down. He also told Suzanne about his life. He was now 18 years old and lived in Maple Village in Cardoj's territory in the Kingdom of Faustian. He had parents and a sister who loved him. When she heard that Locke had been a soldier for four years, Suzanne was shocked at first. Then, she understood why he could become a squad jarl at such a young age. However, she was very conflicted about Locke's age. Locke didn't usually shave in the camp, so the years of war had made him look a lot more mature. Although Suzanne could see that Locke was younger than her, she didn't expect him to be so much younger. He was a full five years old. Oh my god, aren't we... Suzanne wailed in her heart.

Locke could also hear Suzanne's awkwardness, but he didn't care. Instead, to show his affection, he called her 'Qianqian'. "Don't call me that. Only my brother and my aunts call me that when they were young. You're so young, it's uncomfortable for me to hear it." Suzanne quickly refused. "No, am I not your 'brother' now? Just call me that! "Under Locke's forceful attitude, Suzanne could only accept it.

After learning about her past, he realised that this delicate woman was actually quite capable, especially when he heard that she could read and count. He was even more shocked. Locke was illiterate, and he even stuttered when he wrote his name. As for counting, well, he could count the basic addition and subtraction, but if it was a little more complicated, haha, forget it. Her evaluation of Suzanne was that she lacked love, but she was smart and capable. So, after thinking for a while, he decided to tell Suzanne about his current problem of promotion. After thinking for a long time, Locke realised that only if he was promoted to a first-class soldier and became a platoon jarl would he be able to support Suzanne. In the camp, only those above the rank of platoon jarl would be able to keep a mistress during wartime without being criticized.

So, Locke told Suzanne about the election of platoon jarls in the next two days, and even about the attack on Farlans in a week. Suzanne immediately recovered from the initial shock. She knew that Locke was telling her these things because he treated her as one of his own, and she was the kind of person who wouldn't be abandoned. Locke also made it clear to her that only when he became a platoon jarl would he be able to protect her in this era of war.
