Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Who Has the Best Imagination?

"There is a fish!" Yuuri pointed at her feet, where there was a koi solidified in the transparent glass under her feet.

After Chito and Senju looked at it, "This is also a model."

"Moooouu~" Yuuri was still in a daze, "Can it be said that it is also edible?"

"Let me see the reality clearly." Chito went over and touched the 'water surface'. "It's sealed inside the glass, as if it's in the water."

"It's so boring... God is boring." Yuuri was a little dissatisfied with the inedible food around her.

She raised her head and looked at the stone statue next to her, "Isn't this just a simple stone statue?"

"You will get retribution if you speak so carelessly," Chito started taking pictures of the stone statues. Yuuri also muttered, "But we bumped into the stone statues when we came here, right?"

Chito said nonchalantly, "That must be just an ordinary stone statue."

"It's just a stone statue after all."

After snapping a few more pictures, Chito placed her backpack on a platform beneath a stone statue.

Yuuri mimicked her actions and set hers down nearby.

Taking out food and water from her bag, Chito created a makeshift spot for the three of them to lean on.

They savored their meal while stealing glances at the imposing stone figure before them.

"This is such a unique experience, enjoying a meal while taking in the scenery," Chito remarked, her gaze wandering over the surrounding landscape with curiosity.

"It's tasty," Yuuri commented, her focus less on the surroundings and more on the food.

"But I still can't grasp it. Even if the gods seem impressive, they're just fakes in the end, right? Is there a need for such grand and intricate creations? No one truly knows what lies beyond this life," she added, contemplating the unknown realm of the afterlife.

"Yuu must have sensed it in the darkness earlier. It must have been so pitch-black that you couldn't discern anything clearly," Chito mused, pausing to reflect.

"They perhaps didn't want to confront that darkness, so they erected these stone statues. I, too, lit up the surroundings with a lamp, just to reassure myself," she added, contemplating the impulse to ward off the shadows of uncertainty.

"Are you at ease? In that darkness, I felt more at ease when I found Chii-chan and Senju than this." Yuuri suddenly fell into delusion, "Are Chii-chan and Senju actually both gods?"

"Yuu, you've finally figured it out. You need to make an offering to the gods," Chito teased, playfully reaching for Yuuri's food.

Watching the two in their playful banter, Senju chuckled softly. "Gods? Well, as luck would have it, there are three of us right here."

"Sure enough, I still feel that something is wrong," Yuuri said after dodging Chito's hand, biting the dry food and lost in thought, "Ah, do you think I am a god?"

"Impossible." The two next to her denied unanimously.

The three of them just stared at the dazzling light for a long time. Then Chito took out the fuel lamp and said, "Senju, add some fuel to it."

"What about fuel? I have a better idea." Senju took out a book that glowed purple.

"This is it. The enchanted book can give other things protection and unlimited properties. After putting it on the lamp, It won't go out again."

"Oh, that's brilliant. No need to search for fuel when refilling the car," Yuuri exclaimed, her surprise matching Senju's internal turmoil.

"Why didn't I think of that?" Senju muttered to himself, dejected as he knelt on the ground.

After a moment, Chito approached and helped him up. "Are you alright? Yuuri's suggestion does make sense. Just pour some fuel as long as there's something in the lamp."

"Okay," Senju agreed, taking out a container of fuel and carefully replenishing the lamp.

After Chito's successful attempt, a faint glow emanated from within, guiding the trio as they departed the illuminated temple.

After arriving at the door, Senju asked the two to wait, "Chii-chan, Yuuri, you guys pack up the things in the car first. I will enchant the car so that there will be no shortage of fuel in the future."

"It's no problem" "Hmm~" Senju was still a little worried, but he still took down everything on it.

As Senju set an anvil down, he stashed the car in his inventory, only to discover that its durability had decreased by three points, leaving him somewhat concerned.

After taking out a tank as raw material, Senju spent five levels of experience to repair the car, and then spent five levels of experience to give the characteristics of the enchanted book to the car.

Upon retrieving the car, Chito and Yuuri scanned the vehicle with awe. "Wow, it's as good as new. Even the dirt and scratches have vanished," they exclaimed in unison.

Chito tested the car by driving it a short distance."The sound is like a new engine. It's just like when I first got it, and it seems like there's some protection around it."

"That is the characteristic of protection. It can probably defend against something. After all, it is also level three protection," Senju said as he put the things back into the car.

"That's amazing. Could you enchant my helmet as well?" Chito asked eagerly, but Senju shook his head. "I'm afraid I don't have enough levels at the moment."

"Is that so? I need to enchant the helmet in the future.

"I want that too!" Yuuri chimed in, her curiosity piqued. She quickly added, "Having infinite anything would be great. Imagine never running out of food."

Senju looked at them helplessly, conceding, "Well, you've got a point there."

Settling into the car, he felt as if there was a faint protective shield around him, yet he couldn't discern any visible evidence of its presence.

After Yuuri sat down, Chito started the car and left. The three of them didn't feel the slightest bit of cold wind along the way, as if they were in a house.

Senju contemplated silently, wondering if this was a form of protection. He made up his mind to return and fish more frequently, determined to amass a wealth of enchanted books and experience, aiming to empower himself, Chito, and Yuuri to a godlike status.

After leaving the temple, Senju and the two found a house on the roadside and stayed there for one night.

Taking advantage of their free time, Senju built a pond and caught fish there. Chito and Yuuri watched.

After a while, they tidied up the surroundings, then asked Senju to lay out the wooden planks and lay on them and fell asleep.

Senju was still fishing with great interest.

Initially catching a cluster of regular fish, Senju's luck turned as an enchanted fishing rod materialized before him, boasting Unbreaking II, Luck of the Sea III, and Lure II.

The superior attributes impressed him, prompting him to stow it away and resume fishing.

After a persistent effort, he finally succeeded in obtaining an enchanted book—Power III.

Senju held the book in a daze, pondering where to store it. Could this grant him unlimited power?

*Sigh*

With a hesitant sigh, he decided to set it aside for now, planning to seek advice from Chito and Yuuri the next day.

Doubts about his own intellect began to cloud his thoughts.

As his head started to ache, Senju wrapped himself in a quilt and drifted into sleep.

After an indeterminate period, he was jolted awake by a sudden tremor, only to find himself lying in the car, with Chito and Yuuri engaged in conversation while the vehicle continued its journey.
