Chereads / Delusion: Ray's Deception / Chapter 22 - New Room

Chapter 22 - New Room

"Ray, you're a saint?!"

Enna stood up and shouted.

Saint? Like someone who preaches God's teachings?

Or is that a priest?

The room started to return back to its earlier colours.

The golden light had blessed everything it touched.

All the furniture and utensils looked polished.

My skin felt cleansed and nourished.

It also affected the room's ventilation.

The air had become aromatic and was pleasant to smell. It felt as if someone had burnt incense.

"Ray...", Enna's mother looked at me with an expression of pure horror.

I looked at her face, to try and figure out what was going on.

The light had rejuvenated her skin's impurities and also removed all her wrinkles.

She looked atleast 20 years younger.

She immediately fell to the ground and bowed with her head on the floor.

I stopped her but she didn't raise her head.

"Oh my Lord, forgive this lamb for not knowing better."

What the fuck was going on?

I looked at Enna, she had receded back to a corner of the room.

It looked like she was about to replicate what her mother did.

I raised my hand and shook my head.

She still appeared scared.

Fuck, I had to correct this.

I gently placed my hands on Enna's mother, lightly grabbing her shoulders.

"Madam Kimura, please raise your head."

She slowly raised her head after some time, making no disrespectful gestures.

"Why do you call me a Saint, madam?"

She started stuttering.

"When great danger befalls mankind, O heathens take on the shape of the Devil, Thy Lord be sent to you with holy light. Praise be to thou Saint!"

What is this? Shakespeare?

She bowed again.

I guess not.

"Madam, it's like you said. I am a Saint."

I'll just act like she wants me to.

"And as your Saint, I command you to sit up and look at me."

She obliged without hesitation.

Isn't this too much power?

I looked at Enna, gesturing with my chin to come closer.

She came and sat down beside her mother.

I explained further, "It is as you say. I am Saint Ray Astraeus. And I bring to you the Goodness of the Lord."

What goodness? My jackass?

Both of them looked at me like I was some messiah.

I kept my speech going, "Please keep my identity a secret. The world is in peril and if my enemies get to know about me, they will waste no time to come after me."

Atleast this part was true.

"Yes, my Saint. We will not speak anything about this! We swear to thine Greatness!", Enna's mother was over-enthusiastic.

Enna only softly nodded her head.

I guess she was scared of me but since she had interacted with me before, she wasn't making far fetched assumptions like her mother.

Or maybe her mother was just a fanatic, I don't know.

"Please understand, I do not wish to be a burden to either of you. I only require accommodation for a while and for that, I would be eternally grateful to both of you."

I just wanted to get the fuck out of here.

"Yes, right away, My Saint. Enna, go bring the guest room's keycard."

Enna quickly got up and hurried into her mother's bedroom.

I told Enna's mother, "Madam, I am thankful for the respect you show me, but it would be really comfortable for me if we could speak like we were doing before."

She was horrified.

"How...how can I do that, my Saint?"

I bent my knee and matched our eye levels.

"Please, just call me Ray, ma'am."

I smiled at her.

After a while, I exited through the main door.

Enna's mother handed me the key to the guest room below. Their house was luxurious and had four floors. Enna and her mother occupied the top three floors so they had an internal stairway joining the three floors. I had dinner on the second floor and now I was heading down the external stairs to the ground floor where the guest room was.

Enna's mother also asked me to have all my meals with them but I politely declined saying that I didn't want to burden them any further.

"Hah, I think I handled that situation."

Enna's mother reluctantly agreed to call me Ray but she still showed an excessive amount of respect.

What the hell even was a Saint?

I looked at the neighbourhood while walking down. It was a posh area with rich people just leaving their vehicles in open air garages.

"A mother and daughter can live here safely",

I summarised.

I found my room without searching too hard but just when I was about to open my door, I felt someone peeking at me.

"Come out Enna, you don't have to hide from me."

Enna came down the stairs slowly. Her head was down and she was fidgeting with her fingers.

"What is wrong?", I softly spoke to her.

"No, nothing...", she still kept her head down.

"Is it about me being a Saint?"

"...", she stopped moving her fingers.

I waited for her.

"Why didn't you tell me that you're a Saint?"

How could I have? Like seriously, how could I have?

"I am not a Saint."

"!", she raised her head and widened her eyes.

"Why do you think I am a Saint?"

"Uh..uhm...", she started fidgeting with her fingers again.

She was probably confused since I had just said I WAS a saint a few moments ago.

With a very feeble voice, she said, "Because you saved me and you also helped mother...and..and you have so much golden mana which only belongs to...Saints..."

I remembered what Lianne had told me. Enna needed someone reliable to depend on. Lianne wasn't here, otherwise she would have bombarded me with messages of how Enna's emotional health was dropping.

She continued speaking, "That is what a Heavenly being should do... the morally correct thing. It's just... I...I .. thought that you saved me because..."

My heart ached hearing her.

She then stopped all her small movements and looked at me straight.

"It's...it's okay. I understand. You're a good person, Ray. I respect that."

She gave me a gentle smile.

Her smile carried a storm of sadness.

My string of reason snapped.

I opened the door to my room, grabbed her hand and pulled her in.

Then I closed the door behind her and pushed her against it.

I pressed my body against her and brought my lips close to her ears.

"I didn't save you because I was some saint."

She had lost all her strength because of my sudden actions.

I held her waist to support her.

"I saved you because when I looked at you", I could feel her hot breath on my neck, " you were the most beautiful woman I had ever seen."

Her ear became crimson red.
