Chapter 2 - CHAPTER ONE

Looking at her reflection once more in the mirror, Sophie Turner runs the hairbrush down her hair one last time before setting down the brush.

Her strawberry blonde hair relaxes well in its curls, and her large hazel eyes which tend to change color between green and blue, depending on the lighting are visibly blue, smiling and satisfied with her choice in the emerald satin top that matches perfectly with the bracelet on her wrist. "I can't wait to see the look on James' face when he…" she pauses.

No, she can't be thinking of James anymore, she has decided against it and has to stick to it. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she grabbed her bags and reached for the door.

"Mr knight, here's my letter of resignation." She said dropping the envelope on the glass table that occupies very little space In the office.

Sitting across from her, James Knight sat with legs crossed, focused on the folder held up to his face, ignoring her. "And here's the keys to my apartment. I've already packed my things and moved out.

I just want to say thank you for the last five years. It's been a pleasure and I wish you the best in all your future endeavors."

"Who gave you permission to quit?" He finally laid down the folder.

He looked up at her, his intense blue eyes, framed by well-defined brows, his chiseled jawline and the corners of his lips relaxed, his gaze steady and focused, his expression empty.

She couldn't read him at the moment, she had no idea what was going on in his head and how he was processing what she just said.

Dropping all formalities, a little scoff escapes her mouth as she nonchalantly answers, "Yeah I'd say I see where you intend to go with that question but unfortunately I don't oh, and congratulations on your engagement.

I hear you're getting married to Miss Jones, and I figured you'd want to end this so..." she turns walking out as he grabs and pulls her down to him.

"Who told you that?!" He roared visibly surprised and angry. "but Mr knight.." his lips came crashing down to hers hungrily.

Sophie tried pushing him away but his chest wouldn't bulge, his arms tightened around her, his lips tasted like cinnamon, and memories came flooding but she couldn't do this right now or ever again.

With one last struggle, she breaks off the kiss, "We're still in the office, and I said I was quitting. what if someone walks in? What if someone finds out about us? What happens then?"

With a stern expression, his brows furrowed together, "What happened? I'm the CEO, I own the company. What are they gonna do? Fire me?" "But…"

Their eyes meet, sparking a powerful chemistry between them. James gently cups Sophie's face, his touch both tender and possessive. She can hear her heartbeat racing.

He traced his fingers over the line of her jaw and pulled her tight to his chest. He'd wanted his mouth on hers from the moment she walked into his office this morning, hearing the clangs of her heels on the marble floor, watching her swing her hips gently, and his guy tightened when he realized that she was wearing the bracelet he gifted her, it fits perfectly well on her slender wrists, and now that it was happening, he wanted to savor the moment.

Sophie's lips parted as his thumb brushed over their petal softness, and she combed her fingers into the hair at the nape of his neck.

Tingles washed down his back as he closed the gap between their mouths, first with the utmost gentleness, then with the hunger of a starved man. She made a delicious little sound and responded with the same hunger, sparking a fire in his belly.

He didn't want it to stop. She didn't want it to stop.

"Here let me," she said walking up to James who was fumbling with his necktie. She fixed it and patted gently on it. "There. It looks better now".

God, she's beautiful. His gaze on her lips watching as the words flowed beautifully from them, "Don't ever talk about quitting again. You quit only when I say you can. And that's not happening."

"James…but you're getting married. Don't you think that changes things? Things probably might get rough and I do not want to be entangled in a billionaire scandal."

She reached for her top sprawled on the floor, undoing the buttons and waiting for a reply from him, rather he said nothing, his eyes still fixed on her. He lets out a deep breath and "C'mon Sophie.

Don't be like this. You said you trusted me and I'm still asking you to continue trusting me. I'm…" "Trust you with your wedding finally in the light? It was not just a rumor.

I do trust you regardless but it's of no use because you are getting MARRIED!. don't you get it?" She lets out a frustrated groan, ruffling her hair and pushing little strands off her face with a hint of frustration.

She hastens up in her dressing, struggling with the zipper of her skirt, she can feel her frustration shooting up, and a cold smooth manly hand covers hers, bringing it down to her side, goes back up, and fixes the zipper. "Sophie…" his cellphone lit up and then rang.

"James…" a soft feminine voice trails from the other end. Sophie looked up at him and her eyes wide
