Chereads / The hidden Heir / Chapter 2 - chapter 1

Chapter 2 - chapter 1

It has been fifteen years since the accident that caused the downfall of the Jefferson family, everyone seemed to forgot about what had tragically happened that day in Draventhorpe.

The bell rang signally the end of the college day, students began to rush out of the classrooms in the midst of escaping school.

"James!" Sameul shouted out getting James's attention "Charlotte has invited a few of us out tonight, want to come?"

James looked down speaking softly "I'm going to skip out this time, need to do something"

Leaving Samuel, James went back to his apartment kneeling down on the floor before lighting a candle beside a singular photo.

Samuel arrived at the restaurant seeing Charlotte and a couple of her friends "Charlotte James couldn't come he had something to do"

James was a hard-working student in their class, pushing himself to learn as much as possible while putting up with criticisms by others for being a lower-class citizen. She wanted to buy him and her friends meal tonight before exams scores were posted, being a post celebrating goal no matter the scores.

"It is a good thing he didn't come, he might want to try steal something"

"Yeah he is in need for money" Sabrina muttered making Sophia and Jake laugh

"Let's go in, no need to wait any longer others might be coming too so shouldn't waste time and seize our table" Charlotte quickly changed the subject.

Starting their evening Charlotte had prepared a lavish dinner for the group, pre-prepared with her parents blessing making it she didn't go over budget and still had a sense of elegance, everyone began posting it all on Facebook and instagram. Tagging Charlotte in each post praising her generosity.

A comment appeared under Samuel's post "glad you all are having fun!" Conner commented joyfully, a sneer appeared on Jake's face before commenting "its through hard work and good connections we can enjoy life to the fullest"

These words were just to take a dig at James, Sabrina quickly went along with Jake "money is what let's us enjoy the spoils of life!"

The two began luaghing.

James saw the comments saying "only reason you have money is becuase of your parents hardwork" he quickly sent his reply then logged out of Facebook.

Couple of hours passed and he left the apartment, wanting to get some dinner. Walking a couple of blocks away, "Mr Jefferson? Is that you?"

A males voice rang through his ears, turning around to see a man wearing an armadi suit standing beside a car. James felt like the man was familiar.

"Who are you?" Looking at the man in confusion with a hint of acknowledgement, flashed by his eyes. "Wait... Stefan?"

Stefan eyes widened could hide his smile "been looking for you for so long" sighing a deep breathe of relief "after you fled, we couldn't follow you, for your own safety. My apologises, Young Master" as Stefan spoke he began to get teary eyed.

James walked up and hugged him firmly "whatever the reason, you are here now and you have always been apart of the family"

Stefan was apart of the Jefferson family for many years, but as a butler who took care of James when his parents were busy with their own work. They always had the utmost respects for Stefan becuase of loyalty.

Letting go of each other Stefan stood tall saying "Let's go have dinner, we got alot to discuss"

Stefan didn't let James respond and shoved him into the car "To Athens! Robert."

Athens was located in the middle of the City, he had only heard of it due hearsy from college students a middle aged man greeted Stefan at the door respectfully "Mr Scott, please follow me"

They walked through the club with James following from behind them arriving at a private room "this way sir"

The man noticed James and his face turned cold saying "sorry but this room is off limits" reaching to place his hand on James shoulder.

"If you touch him you'll lose your hand" Stefan spoke coldly sending shivers up his spine.

"Sorry Sir didn't realize he is your guest" turning to bow to Stefan, pleading for forgiveness.

"You are mistaken, he isn't our guest" hearing Stefan's words the man stood upright

"What do you mean Mr Scott?"

Stefan smirked "this Young man is the host and we simply are the guests, or to put it bluntly we work for him."

The middle aged man gapped "you mean he is the young master you been searching for all this time?" He shouted out excitedly before he began to get a cold sweat.

"My apologise, Young Master James"

"George don't speak so loudly, Mr Jefferson and I need to have a talk, don't tell anyone about this"

George Snider is the Gerenal manager of Athens and has a strict rule about how he runs business, he is well known in and around Paladin City. James sat down across from Stefan.

"Mr Jefferson I am truly sorry about how you have been treated up until now, your father gave his last order and been achieving that goal."

"What was his last order?"

"Last time I saw him, he said don't follow you but to build and try to recover all that was lost for the time you were found. He had a feeling that by time you were found it would meant you were ready to rebuild your family name once again"

Stefan looked at James helplessly "I know it's alot to take in, I haven't regained all of what your lost but have built up alot, so for now let me give you a gift so you can start from." Stefan pulled out a mat black bank card and gave it to James "this has money on it which is purely yous, tomorrow you'll get another gift."

Stefan saw James dumbfounded expression mixed with alot of emotions behind his eyes, Stefan stood up and patted him on the shoulder. "I know this is alot but take the night and process everything I told you. I'll reach out to you again soon"
