Raven stayed in her room with nothing to do but to comb her long black hair. She has being combing her hair for a long time now that she had lost count of how long she has being doing it, but it was the only way to distract herself from the several stomping sounds that was coming from outside her room, she could even hear them from up her ceiling which was now starting to annoy her. Those sounds were coming of the servants, as they move around with haste of the last minute preparation of her father's arrival. Today was the day they're expecting he to comes for his 'little visit' which she hopes would take only a day or two, like he always does in the past. She thoughts where interrupted by a knock on the door and immediately enter her nanny, which was a regular habit of hers.
"What a lovely day it is, the mansion is being decorated nicely but... the energy in this room is quite different," Martha taunted but the girl did not even replied, so she pressed on. "You're not even going to talk to you, are you that angry about today?"
Raven sighed tiredly before replying with a yes.
"Really...?"
"It's just that... he comes and goes as he please. Giving false hope and then breaking them but uncle expects us to understand he and it's not fair!!!" Yell Raven as she stomped her feet on the floor before moving to the bed, pounce face down furiously on it. Martha follow shortly after Raven started to come back a little, she sit beside her on bed while patting her head gently. She understands were the girl was coming from. The girl had a strong spirit but it was only so much that a person can handle, she needs to be extra careful with her.
"His not always like that..."Martha said.
"Then it's only to me, just because am different from the other," Said Raven as she knew they were still talking about her father. "It is because I have black hair just like the human. Is that why he hates me?" She stated dishearten.
"He does not hate you-,"
"Then he just dislikes me,"
"Miss Raven!, please stop. Stop with those negativity," Martha said firmly, "-your father is going sure something and everyone deals with they're trouble differently," She continued, "Yes! It's true that you're different from the other and it's also true that you're the only faixy born with dark hair but that doesn't mean that he hates you, so please stop saying that," She stopped talking of a few seconds at the sad expression of the girl. Knowing well that the topic was sensitive to her, Martha signed as her voice turned gentle. She continued on. "
Nobody's asking you to fixs things will your father right away, all am asking is for you to put your self in your uncle's shoes. He want's nothing but his family to be whole and for you to have a father again, so don't just do this for your self but for your uncle's sake as well," She concluded while looking at the girl, who eyes were now glassy with tears but their never fell and before Raven could open her mouth to speak they heard a sudden knock on the door.
"What is it," Asked Martha.
"Pardon me but lord Maxwell whishes for you both to be down stairs as mister Gerard just arrived," Said the maid behind the door.
"Alright we be down soon," She replied to have the maid go back down.
"Alright, I understand," Raven finally replied with a weak smile, " Let go join him now," They both stood up for the bed in silent and headed downstairs to meet they're long awaited guest.
Raven stared at the man that her uncle was embracing, warmly and happily. He had similar hair color to that of her uncle's sliver one but the lengths on his where shorter compared to her uncle's, they both look similar in appearance but her uncle's eyes where blue in color, which he got from their mother while her father acquired his light grey eyes from their last father. Her father was quite further in age from her uncle, which could be seen by the tiny wrinkles on his face but it never stop the two from being close.
"Here dear, have some juice" said Martha as she handed her a glass.
"Thank you," She thanked, taking the juice in her hand to have a sip.
It has been five minutes now since they arrive and is yet to be notice the two lord.
"This is taking forever," Sighed Raven as her patience was growing thin.
"Have some patience, their just catching up a little," Laughed Martha at the girl's pouting face.
"Well...they're talking like jobless women, and not the attractive ones for that matter,"
"Oh! is that so, Raven." Came a firm voice behind her, that was clearly not her uncle's non the butler's. It was she father.
Raven back instantly stiffen as the consequences of her words came back to hit her hard. She turned really slowly towards her father, with very step got her heart beating loudly until she was face to face with him.
"Welcome father, how have you been doing," She greeted with a deep bow.
"It's been quite some time, how have you been," He said with a small smile.
"I've been alright." She replied with a little hope that everything would be ok. If only she knew that it was not going to be good.
