Chapter 7 - Davy vs Miss general

Several days had passed since the incident with Suzy. She no longer behaved like an exuberant puppy around Davy, fully aware of the gravity of her actions, especially considering all he had done for her. Today, Davy was gearing up to raid a dungeon. He adorned himself with new armor, strapped on his sword, and stepped out. Suzy stood still, eyes cast downward, torn between her desire to accompany him and the fear of rejection. he halted, meeting her gaze.

"What are you doing? Let's go. Didn't you say you wanted to get stronger?" he urged, walking away.

"Are you sure I can come?" she asked hesitantly, trailing after him.

"It's fine. I don't blame you for being scared of me. It was my fault for not controlling my ability properly," he reassured her.

She smiled, cheeks flushed with emotion. Clenching her fists, she vowed never to leave his side, pledging to grow stronger and stand by him throughout his journey inside the tower.

They reached oshikango's sole dungeon, eerily deserted. People avoided it, apprehensive about what lay on the other side. Unperturbed, they ventured in. Davy, resolute, faced the unknown while Suzy trembled with nerves. Upon entering, an orc lunged at them, but his swift reflexes allowed him to evade the attack, dispatching the creature effortlessly.

He gained significant experience by defeating an E-rank orc, handing the core to Suzy. They delved deeper into the dungeon, confronting and vanquishing every monster in their path.

After hours of relentless hunting, both experienced substantial level gains. He was now level 17 and her level 11. They took a break, savoring a well-earned rest and feasting on monster meat Suzy had cooked.

"Thanks, anyways, how are your wounds?" He inquired, his words punctuated by the sound of him chewing on the meat.

"I still feel pain a little bit, but I can tell the wounds are starting to permanently heal. It's all thanks to you," she replied gratefully.

"That's good, just don't overdo it."

After their meal, they pressed on with their hunt. Valuable items littered the ground, but Davy, uninterested, instructed Suzy to pick whatever she liked, leaving the rest behind. Eventually, they reached the boss room. At the entrance stood a formidable guardian, armed with a spear in one hand and a shield in the other.

"Hmm, this thing looks tough. How about it? Think you can take it?" He inquired, his eyes fixed on her.

She hesitated, her determination to no longer hold him back propelling her forward. Approaching the E-rank guardian, she struck at its legs, but her blow merely grazed the monster. The guardian retaliated with its spear, narrowly missing her. Stepping back, she unleashed her "fire bolt," but it dealt minimal damage.

The guardian charged, and she evaded, only for the monster to whip its spear sideways, hitting her. The impact cracked her ribs, sending her flying into the wall, blood streaming from her mouth.

"Dammit, why is it so strong?" she muttered, struggling to rise.

"You need to use your powers more efficiently. Remember how I used your magic against the metal snake," his advice reached her ears as he observed the fight from a distance.

Taking his words to heart, she closed her eyes, focusing on the flames. Concentrating and stretching them, she formed a spear made of fire and hurled it at the guardian, dealing some damage. However, her momentary lapse in concentration proved costly. The guardian seized the opportunity, delivering a powerful punch that sent her crashing into the wall once more. Coughing up blood, her wounds reopened, and consciousness began to fade.

Davy materialized out of thin air, swiftly severing the guardian's head clean off. With incredible speed, he quickly healed her, her eyes barely managing to stay open.

"You did great. Next time, don't let your guard down," he said, a slight smile gracing his lips.

Seeing the smile reflected on his face, she mirrored it. "Yay," she managed weakly before succumbing to unconsciousness.

Gently laying her down, he ventured into the boss room. Inside, there sat a lone orc on a throne, its killing intent so palpable it hung heavy in the air. He recognized the orc's strength, but it posed no threat to him. He unleashed his own killing intent, overwhelming the orc's resolve.

The orc snapped, launching an attack. Yet, it was no fight; it was a single, decisive strike. In an instant, the orc became riddled with bullet holes, His father's gun ensuring its swift demise.

"Didn't you say I'm not ready for D-rank dungeons? Why are the monsters so weak?" He questioned the system.

"Master, are you sure you are human?" the system responded, confusion evident in its tone. It couldn't fathom how he had dispatched a D-rank monster so effortlessly.

"What nonsense are you spouting now? Let's get out of here. At least we got some good items and high-quality cores," he retorted, dismissing the system's perplexity.

Among the spoils were healing potions, strength-boosting gloves, and a magic book. Exiting the boss room, he saw Suzy still sleeping. He gently lifted her, cradling her in his arms, and made his way toward the exit.

He emerged, and there she stood - Miss General, a smile adorning her face. Ignoring her, he strode away. Her surprise turned to anger, and she shouted, commanding him to stop, but he continued his determined pace.

"YOU DARE IGNORE ME?" she seethed in fury.

Summoning her mind domination powers, she attempted to ensnare him. Her assault landed, causing him to halt momentarily. In response, he activated intimidation. The driver slumped, unconscious, and Miss General fell to the ground, trembling with fear. He materialized before her, his expression cold and unyielding.

"I don't know who you are or what you want, but the next time I see you, be ready to die," he warned, his voice cutting through the air. With a single glance, he turned and walked away, his clothes billowing in the wind.

It took Miss General a few minutes to regain her composure, but the fear of Davy had etched itself deep within her. Instructing the driver, she demanded an immediate return to the airport.

"I need to report this to the superiors," she murmured, her eyes fixed on her phone screen.

Suddenly, Davy appeared atop the car, effortlessly leaping in front of it, halting its progress. Trembling, Miss General watched as he approached the back door. He swung it open and, seizing her by the hair, dragged her out.

"Why are you doing this?" she pleaded, her voice strained.

"I have a feeling that if I let you go, things are going to get annoying. So, I will just end it now," he said, his tone resolute.

"No, please wait! If you kill me, you'll be hunted by the government. Just let me go. I promise I won't say anything about you," she begged desperately.

"You do have a point. How about this? Call your superiors and tell them there is nothing special about me. Do that, and I will spare your life," He proposed, his eyes unwavering.

She dialed the number and relayed exactly what he had instructed her to say. Tears streamed down her face, and in her fear, she couldn't control her own body, the ultimate acknowledgment of her dread. As she finished the call, she hung up, tucking her phone away, and met his gaze.

"I... I did what you asked for. Will you let me live?" she stammered.

"Hmm, sure, why not," he replied nonchalantly.

"Thank you, thank you..." her gratitude was cut short by his interruption.

"But you will have to join my group from now on. Refuse, and I will kill you. Your powers will be helpful in the tower," he stated, his tone firm.

"Eh? But you said you would let me live," she protested, her face a canvas of sadness.

"Tsk, don't give me that sad face nonsense. I said I would let you live, but I never said I would let you go. Stand up and follow me. Kill that driver," he commanded as he started walking away.

"Dammit, how did things go to shit this fast? I'll die if I go around with him, DAMMIT," she muttered in frustration. Ultimately, she gave in, carrying out his orders with a heavy heart. She killed the driver and trailed after him, he was set on gathering people useful for his conquest.

[Meanwhile, somewhere in oshakati]

"I should go find Mister Davy first before I look for my parents," Ari murmured to herself as she walked away from a pile of reaper wolves she had just defeated.
