Weston sat with his head bowed. He did not dare to meet the eyes of the knight following him. He felt no more than a mouse trapped in the pack of wolves.
Their presence was enormous, pressing him hard on the ground.
"You are the guest?" A guard came from inside and looked at him with a hint of suspicion. How much he tried to speak, but words failed him. So he slowly nodded.
The man nodded and pointed at the passage with his chin. When Weston did not move, he replied again.
"You have to go in. Alone." as if it was the keyword. Weston regretted coming here. He wanted to return.
But going back and looking at the disappointed faces of the kid's would be harder. Perhaps, lady Elene was right but she might go wrong too.
He collected his courage and took the steps in. The dark passage only had some sconces lighting with flickering torches. Even his own shadow looked big and dangerous behind them.
