The lights were so dim that Evan had trouble setting foot out of the carriage. It was not the church they have visited for their marriage. Though she had a keen look on the road and she was sure they were still in his estate. She was sure that she had never been here before.
"Hold my hand." Dami offered when Evan did not take a step out of the carriage. The way her pupils dilated and her eyes narrowed around, he could already feel in his bones that it was a bad idea. The woman did not deserve to be here. He did not understand what he was thinking when he agreed with his staff to bring her here.
She took a long shaking breath before holding his hands. His grip was tight but warm and she felt assured for a bit when he escorted her out of the carriage. She wrapped her hands around his arm as she looked around.
