"Miss Morgan, please come with me. I'll take you back home. It's a good thing you are just arriving now." One of the cops said as he took her to his car.
"What do you mean by that?" She asked puzzled.
"Well we were doing our daily patrol, when we noticed armed thugs lying around, probably waiting for a target.
They managed to escape, but luckily, we caught one of them. He said they were paid to abduct you." The officer explained.
What? But how were they aware of me taking this route? It just doesn't check out." She said in a complicated manner. She was famous and the target of greedy men, but twice in half a day? Who must really want her dead?
"Turns out, they had men lying around in almost every corner of town, so it was all a matter of which one of them was lucky to have you pass their own location." The police officer said as they drove off to the Morgan Manor.
Just then, Liam's words came rushing to her mind. 'Did he know about the attack?
But we were blocks away from the place the assasins stood, so how could he have possibly figured it out?' Elena's face distorted as she became confused.
'How could he have possibly knew thugs were waiting for me, and how was he able to figure out that the cops were close to the thugs location?' She asked herself multiple questions that she had zero answers to.
For some reason, she seemed to be 100 percent sure that Liam knew about the attack which was why he kept stalling her and leaving afterwards, probably because he knew the cops had caught the assasins. But how did he know?
'Was he some kind of god?'
"Maybe i'm just overthinking things? It might just be a coincidence." Elena said out loud.
"What was that, miss?" The police officer inquired, staring at her from the rear view mirror.
"Nothing." She said, not realizing she was talking out loud.
Elena arrived home later in the afternoon, looking all exhausted and tired.
"Hey baby girl. We heard what had happened on the streets hours ago. Are you okay? Hope they didn't hurt you? How you feeling? Is anything broken? Do you..."Selena bombarded her with so much question the moment she walked in.
"Mooom! I'm fine. There's nothing broken. Luckily they didn't get to me on time." Elena sat her extremely worried mother down.
Selena had jumped up from her seat when she saw Elena walk through the door. She had been worried sick.
They didn't hear from Elena all day, and her tracking device went dead all of a sudden.
"Are you sure you're okay? What happened to You? What happened to your tracking device? We were worried sick. I'm so glad you're okay." Her dad chimed in looking like he just saw a ghost.
He had black circles under his eye lids which indicated he had no sleep at all.
"Stop whining like a woman, dad. I told you both that I'm fine. I had a little bit too much to drink and slept off. Sorry I got you both worried." She said telling a half lie.
"What are you wearing? Oh my gosh, did you sleep at a boys place?" The once worried Selena was bubbling with so much joy.
She was beyond excited which Elena clearly did not understand why.
She looked at Liam's shirt she was wearing and back to her mom. "What do you mean mom? I... I messed up my shirt with alcohol, and borrowed a friend's shirt. Stop making a big deal out of it." She lied.
'Wait a minute. Why do I find it hard to tell my parents about Mordecai?' She pondered on it for few minutes before coming out of her trance when her mom shook her lightly.
"I said it that it's a guy you like else you won't be lost in your thoughts right now. Tell me all about him. Is he cute? Rich? Devilishly sexy?..." Selena's worried expression was wiped away immediately.
"Holy shit, Mom! Stop talking. Like, oh my God, what the fuck are you talking about. Stop being a baby. It's definitely no one." Elena rolled her eyes to the side as she silently prayed in her mind for her mom to stop talking.
'Well he was cute and devilishly sexy, only that he was a really wretched and annoying guy.' Liam's handsome face flashed through her mind making her smile unknowingly.
All through out Stanley kept quiet, examining his daughters facial expressions.
"He must be really special to have you smiling so brightly." Stanley looked at his daughter in a doting manner.
"Are you going to gang up against your own daughter? You betrayed me for your wife right? I wasn't smiling, okay? And there's definitely no 'special guy'" She made an air quote to indicate the special guy her father talked about did not exist.
"You said it already that I'm siding my wife, which I would gladly do since she's my queen." Stanley replied with a huge smile on his lips.
"And what am I then?" Elena questioned with folded arms.
"You're still a princess of course." Stanley said as he held his wife's hands lovingly.
Just then their butler walked into the living room, with Daniel walking behind him.
"What got you all smiling so brightly?" He asked smiling as well.
Elena's smile quickly turned into a frown as she heard his voice. She turned to her parents angrily.
She gave them a questioning look. 'What the fuck?'
"Nothing." She said through gritted teeth. "What are you doing here?" She inquired.
"I heard about the attack staged for you on numerous streets in town, so I rushed down here to help your parents keep you safe, only to find out that you were missing and they had no way to track you down." Daniel explained as he sat next to Elena, which she quickly moved far from him, and sat at the other end of the big couch.
