This is an experience from when I was three years old. One day, my family took me to my aunt's house to visit. That evening, while the adults were chatting, I was playing by myself in the closet. Suddenly, I started crying, and my family thought I had bumped into something, so they tried to console me. However, no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't calm me down. That night, I had a high fever, and even after getting injections at a local clinic, my fever wouldn't go down. My family had to take me to the hospital, where I stayed for about a week. During this time, my fever persisted, and I was constantly in a state of sleep. I didn't even feel the pain from the injections. The medical bills piled up, and the doctors couldn't find a solution. They said that if my fever didn't break, I wouldn't have much time left.
My dad was extremely worried and, at the height of his concern, suddenly thought of someone, a person named Zhang Nai. My dad immediately called Zhang Nai. As soon as the call connected, before my dad could explain the situation, Zhang Nai said, "Bring the child back; I know what's happening. Just wait for you to come to me."
My dad hurriedly brought me home and then went directly to Zhang Nai's house. Zhang Nai inquired about my situation and, to everyone's surprise, said that while I was playing in the closet, I had encountered a female ghost. This female ghost seemed to have taken a liking to me and wanted to take me away. Zhang Nai even provided a description of the ghost, estimating her age to be around 30 years old. She asked if my aunt had any relatives fitting that description, and after some reflection, my aunt confirmed that there was such a person in their family.
Without delving into the matter of the ghost, my dad asked Zhang Nai how to help me. Zhang Nai found a scale and placed me on it, balancing the scale beam. She then performed some rituals that none of us could comprehend, and suddenly, I became heavier, and the scale beam was no longer level. After finishing the ritual, Zhang Nai calculated and told my dad the location of the ghost's grave and instructed him to go there with straw. He was to spread the straw over the grave and set it on fire, calling out that it was on fire.
My dad followed Zhang Nai's instructions, found the grave, and completed the ritual. After doing so, he called Zhang Nai, who took a look at the scale. The scale beam had leveled out again. Zhang Nai told my dad that he could return home, but he shouldn't look back on the way. At our doorstep, he should pat himself to remove any lingering impurity.
My dad returned home, and miraculously, my fever had broken, and I was sleeping soundly. My dad was relieved, and that's how the story ends. This is my true childhood experience, and every time I return to my hometown, I visit Zhang Nai, after all, she saved my life.
