Chapter 14 - Not the only dealer.

The resounding shouts of Connor was evident as they walked away from the scene of their deal. His words between the sense of asking his lady to think of her decision and expressing his worry at the deal with the devil.

Silas gave a sigh as their their footsteps echo dully on the stone walls of the outside walkway of the mansion. "How long is he going to continue doing that?" Silas asked referring to Connor .

"I'm not sure my Lord" the almost silent voice of Frederick replied back. Frederick was lost in thoughts and his gaze had a slight shadow.

"Frederick.." he perked up at the mention of his name.

Lord Silas came to a stop and Frederick slowed beside him. The silence between them was thick, until it was broken by Silas next words "You doubt my decision don't you?" his voice was clear snd deep.

He turned to his adviser. "I believe i owe you an apology". Frederick lifted his head a confused gaze on his face. "What for-"

"I haven't been clear with you about my actions since i received that letter back home" " i hope you understand that though my actions might seem rash, there are well thought out. But i must admit I'm quite in the blind about this one" at his last statement Frederick look up at him, worry etched on his features.

At his adviser expression Silas chuckled. "... but," Frederick wind down " i have found thrill in this unknown. Its strange to explain this but somewhere, even this unsurely i have no doubt i won't regret this decision" Frederick looked at his master and friend, Silas stood tall, his hands folded behind his back sporting a peaceful serene far away look. Different from the shadows usually etched in his face or the strain of his smile that never reached his eyes. It was true that he would never understand what his master was thinking but, it has always worked out for them in the end. And as usual he should put his Faith in his friend.

Besides, he like that look on his master face, even if it was once in a while. Just maybe this family the Lord was about to get himself into wasn't such a bad one. Only time would tell. His icy expression softened at the thought.

"Here" Silas voice dragged him out of his thoughts. He looked down to see a parchment being pushed his way. " he took it in his grip unsurely. "Maybe this would shed some light.."

Federick looked down at the parchment and unfolded it. His eyes scanned the content as Silas waited patiently beside him.

"Fascinating right?" Silas amused voice sounded a he finished reading the letter. At his questioning gaze Silas nodded his head. Is that so...?

The sound of footstep rushing towards their direction caught their attention.

They turned, their gaze was met with sparkling green ones. The child that came to stand a few feet from them face was a little flushed from the running. Before they could ask for the reason of the child presence, the boy spoke first.

"You're the Evil lord right?" Frederick marveled at this child bravery. Names spoken in the dark and secret; he boldly brought to light. Recognition dawn in Silas gaze. The boy eyes was bright in anticipation like a man on a mission.

"Ah. It seems we meet again little one" Silas voice went softer to accommodate the child. At his words Frederick gaze flickered from the paper to the boy, from the way of address and boldness, he quickly connected the dots. So this was the child? He muddled. The same boy they saw back at the ball. Lady Lucinda child.

"I did have a feeling we were being watched back at the garden. so it was you little one". The boy shook his head proudly like he was basking in praise.

"Yeap. Though i could hardly hear what you and my mama spoke about ." He put a small hand to his chin.

"Never mind that" his excited voice sounded as he skipped closer to them.

"You came again as you said," the boy smile was wide and bright, having no sense of fight or flight in front of the tall imposing gentleman. It was refreshing; having being used to having children cower or cry before him. Maybe there was something they sensed about him that he didn't notice. He did always had a smile, surely that should have eased them. Just maybe they were too good at seeing the devil behind the mask. Then why don't this child run from him.

"Does this mean you are marrying my Mama?" in all his years of expecting the unexpected, he was startled by the sudden bluntness of the child. He paused to ponder on the child question. How do you suddenly tell a child he would be a new addition to the family?Especially since he wasn't his biological father. Though— looking down at the child mega watt smile as he await his reply; he didn't think this one would be too bothered by it.

Noticing the child straining his neck to meet his gaze, he lowered himself on one knee to accommodate the child height.

He placed a hand to his chest "I'm Lord Silas. I'm going to be a new addition to your family" he offered a kind smile to the boy "that is, if you'll have me." He put his palm outstretched as he asked, giving the child an option. A chance to speak his mind.

He didn't know what he expected but certainly not the thousand watt smile that could rival the sun thrown in his direction. The child unrestricted joy was so blinding. The little boy with bright green eyes clapped his little palm on his.

"That means you're gonna be my Papa" it wasn't even a question at this point.

Silas gave a chuckle "As it seems young one" his demur and tone was all accommodating of the child. Federick watched Silas as his attempt of not scaring the child away. His master was not by any means scary nor ugly, but children just never sat well with the man. In his own clumsy way, he was handling the situation well with the child. Though he could tell the child was an open free minded soul.

Frederick silver white brows pulled in concentration as his master held a worried expression.

"But," Silas spoke to the child, his expression a little forecast "it seems it won't be easy to win your mother heart" Frederick brows almost sky rocket to the roof. Was he deaf or did his lord just said he wanted to win a Lady heart. Not just any Lady, but Lady Lucinda. Surely he must be hearing wrong.

"So I'll be needing your help to win your mother's heart little one. Can I count on you?" Ok, his eardrums were in working condition.

The child puffed out his chest "Easy peasy. With my help, you'll win Mama's heart" his little hands was stationed on his waist.

"But, it won't be easy. For that, it means you have to do whatever i say."

"Deal..?" The child stretched out his hand. Well it seems there was more than one cunning dealer in their midst. After a moment of pondering with pursed lips Silas whispered under his breath " a deal...?" He shook his head in a chuckle.

"I would like the pleasure of knowing your name child ".

"I'm Theodore. Theodore owen Cassius. I hope we can work together well for Mama".

"Well Theodore," he began his voice picking strength from the child trust. "It seems we have a....". This new family he was about to join. It seems they were all little devils on their own feat.

He clasped the small palm in his much larger one, for the first time he'll have someone that he'll be in his beck and call.

"Deal!"
