Chapter 90 - Across the Waters

The plan was clear: build a vessel large and sturdy enough to hold at least one pilus. If it could carry just one, the crossing was possible.

Time wasn't the issue, but durability was. The goal was to construct at least one functional vessel. Alex knew that if the first one succeeded, the second, third, and more would follow. Mastery would come with time.

Gathering all artisans and builders, Alex assigned each to a specific part of the vessel. Cornelius led the craftsmen, while Fred's artists joined forces with John's builders. Joe's warriors worked alongside them, providing strength and labor. The new farmers and gatherers, though not directly involved in construction, played a crucial role in sourcing materials.

Since leaving the second tribe, the gatherers had been tasked with collecting essential resources—metals, wood, and other materials. Everyone contributed in some way.

Upon returning, Alex learned that his sisters had been placed under Cornelius's guidance. They had demonstrated remarkable intelligence, which Alex encouraged, proud of their progress.

Though Alex wasn't an expert in shipbuilding, he guided the team as best as he could. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months. Finally, after four long months of effort, they completed a vessel capable of navigating the lake—with room for not one, but two pilus at once.

The boat was made of wood and iron.

Working with wood had been especially challenging. Without proper techniques or tools, they had to invent them from scratch. It was a daunting task, but in the end, they managed.

The vessel was a raft, measuring 15 meters in length, 4 meters in width, and 2 meters in height. Compared to modern ships, it was modest. But the knowledge and experience gained were invaluable.

"The time has come," Alex announced, addressing the gathered tribe. "We will cross this lake. Remember, what lies ahead will make you realize how small we are and how little we truly know."

One by one, the tribe began crossing the lake. The process wasn't quick—it took nearly a month to transport everyone and everything. But finally, the entire tribe was united on the other side.

Now, for the first time, everyone under Alex's leadership could live together without barriers of time or distance. Some had met during material transport, but this was the first opportunity for them to connect without the urgency of tasks to complete.

The lake, once a daunting obstacle, was now a memory—a testament to what they could achieve together. As they settled into their new land, they carried the lessons learned and the bonds forged from their journey across the waters.
