"Ah, damn it... what a mess... no, not again... not in this life!" exclaimed Scar, coughing violently.
"Hey, looks like it's over for you," Alex said firmly.
"No, you bastard! Why didn't you accept my proposal? Everything could have ended without bloodshed," Scar grumbled, struggling to stay upright.
"Sure, because you definitely wouldn't have stabbed me in the back," Alex mocked. "How could I trust someone who killed their own father?"
"Hehehe... Killed my father? Really? They're just monkeys! They're not like us! Seems you've adapted to this world too much and forgotten who you are!" Scar exclaimed, glaring at Alex.
"Hmph, look who's talking. You literally had a child with these 'monkeys.' So, what does that make you? Just a pervert?" Alex retorted coldly.
"Fair point, hahaha," Scar chuckled weakly. "But... it's just about following your instincts."
Blood trickled from Scar's mouth as his body weakened further. "Ah... what a mess. I guess this is it for me. You know, I was going to kill you and your entire tribe... but it wouldn't have been like the Frenzied. It would've been painless. You'd just fall asleep and never wake up. Peaceful... no pain."
"Scar, tell me... why? What was all this for?" Alex demanded, his voice tense.
"Why?" Scar's bloodshot eyes stared up at the sky. "Well... did you know that, when you stimulate certain hormones in unethical and morally... questionable ways, they produce a kind of vitamin? In my past life, I created it. Accidentally tried it... and it was divine. But it drove me insane... I was betrayed and killed. When I woke up... I was here. Just a little red monkey."
"So... all of this... just to recreate a drug? You lunatic!" Alex shouted, his anger boiling. "I thought you were just a psychopath, but I was wrong. You're an abomination that should never have existed!"
Alex's thoughts churned. He had considered many possibilities—perhaps Scar was just a maniac who enjoyed killing or drugging others. But to use people as ingredients for a drug? It was too depraved to comprehend.
Scar laughed weakly, his voice fading. "Alex... you defeated me. I won't apologize for what I tried to do. But since we came from the same place, here's a warning: don't trust the exiles too much. They may have their reasons to go against me, but they're not good people either."
"Blargh... blargh..." Scar coughed, vomiting blood as he spoke his final words.
"I guess... this is it."
Scar fell silent.
