Oshim has left again. Many nights, Safiya would tell her it was fine to take back her bed, but she would refuse, dismiss her and go out to where Safiya didn't know. For the past three days that Safiya had been here, Oshim hadn't spent the night in her hut, and Safiya wondered where she was sleeping. Most times, she feared that she was an evil spirit.
Just like the other nights, Oshim did not return. Safiya sighed and got up slowly from the bed. She had started moving comfortably, but the pain at her back still made her weak.
She walked slowly toward the door and pushed it open, stepping out only to be embraced by the cold wind. The night breeze caressed her brown skin and touched her full hair, swaying it slightly.
Safiya had wanted to braid it, but her hand was too weak to do anything. Somehow she was surprised at how fast she had learned to braid. She had helped Meka once to braid her hair.
