Chapter 19 - Trapped

Adira shook violently as she stepped out of her cage. She couldn't believe her eyes. The dead body had disappeared before her eyes.

"Or was he not dead?" She asked rhetorically under her breath.

Although she was scared and couldn't understand what just happened, she was happy she escaped what might have befell her.

She crawled out of her cage and walked slowly to the bathroom. Her body vibrated in fear.

She turned on the shower and began to take a bath. She ran her hands across the marks the man made in her body. Each mark ached her as she touched it.

She reached for the soap placed in the dish, and she noticed her fingernails were strangely long and dirty. She knew it was not from the man, but from the strange things that were happening to her body. She managed to have her bath that morning admits the series of disturbing flashbacks she was seeing.

"He better be dead already."

She thundered, forgetting where she was.

The lady beside her gave her a long stare, she couldn't understand her relationship with someone's death. But she hated Adira because she felt Adira had access to the Alpha, something she wished for, but could never achieve. After the last drop of water fell from the shower, she tied a wrapper round her body and began to walk to the dressing room.

"What are those marks in your body?"

A lady sounded on top of her voice.

"Thought you had your bath? Why do your nails look so bad?"

She continued.

Adira looked back almost immediately, she was concerned to know who might have noticed her wounds and her dirty long nails. But who she saw didn't surprise her, it was number 13, a lady everyone knew to be problematic in the house. Everyone avoided her since chaos revolved around her.

"Mind your business!"

Adira snapped, she rolled her swollen eyes at the woman, in an attempt to shut her up.

She hadn't gotten enough sleep last night hence the swollen eyes.

"Haha...did you have a fight with demons last night?"

She thundered again with her loud voice.

"Mind your stupid business!"

The Slaves had a maximum of just 30 mins to have their bath and breakfast.

And Adira had spent 20 mins just showering alone. She knew she needed to have breakfast, although it was just hard bread and milk, she knew her stomach needed it. And she wouldn't want to spend her time arguing with irrelevant number 13, so she quickly put on her dress and walked to the exit.

"Don't you think we still have a lot to talk about?"

The lady moved swiftly and blocked the door.

"That looks like a bump, is it for the Alpha?"

She said, displaying her scattered dentition.

Adira was disturbed and disgusted by the figure before her.

She gawked at the ugly poke noser that stood in her way. She wanted to draw her ruffled hair so bad and push her aside, but fighting was prohibited in the pack.

She heard that whenever a fight occurs, the two people involved are severely punished. And although she hadn't witnessed any, she had heard a lot about it, and how some of them lost their lives in the process.

"Step out of the way, bitch!"

She snapped

"What if I don't?"

Adira looked around the dressing room and it was obvious everyone was minding their business, and only her had gotten ready to leave. There was no guard in sight since it was the lady's dressing room and the guards were only male.

She didn't want to get into a fight with the trouble maker, but she was pushing her too far too.

She reached for her shoulder and in an attempt to push her away, her long fingernails sank into her shoulder. Adira watched in fear as blood began to pour out of the wound.

"What have you done!"

Number 13 screamed on top of her voice.

She reached for the wall, making way for the other slaves to leave, as none of them paid attention to what was happening to her.

"Are you a monster or what?"

She cried in pain.

Blood was beginning to drop faster, she reached for the edge of her gown and tore a piece from it. And after making a tourniquet, she said,

"I'll go show the guards what you did to me!"

She was about to leave, when Adira blocked the door. She vibrated in fear, gulping as fast as she could.

She couldn't understand another strange thing that had happened, but she was sure it was related to the numerous strange things that had happened to her.

"I..I can fix this."

Adira pleaded.

"Don't touch me, monster! Get out of my fucking way!"

She thundered. She tried to push Adira out of the way, but her hurting shoulder wouldn't let her.

Just then, footsteps became closer. Adira looked at the clock and realized she had just 5mins to go get her food and leave the slave house.

She feared the footsteps might belong to the guards, so she pleaded with number 13 to act like nothing happened.

"Can you please pretend like nothing has happened? I promise I'll fix this!"

"You can't fix this monster, the blood on the floor will give you away."

The lady snapped.

"What's keeping you Adira?"

Margaret sounded at the entrance.

Adira let out a sign of relief immediately she sighted Margaret. He reached for her and grabbed her hands.

"Could you please heal her quickly?

I'll explain later."

"What do you mean?"

Margaret sounded, trying to feign ignorance.

She winked an eye to Adira signaling she stopped what she was saying. But Adira was too confused to even think, she just needed the loud mouthed number 13 to heal and they would find a way to seal her mouth later.

"I caused her the injury, please just heal her first."

She pleaded.

Margaret rumpled her eyes brows, she didn't understand what was happening.

"I should heal a loud mouth with my powers? What if she spills?"

She whispered back to Adira.

"We'll find a way around it. She already knows I might be a monster."
