The monkey that Doudou was stroking on the head didn't look like much from a distance, but up close, Xue Lixue got quite a shock!
Around its ribs, beside its belly, on its back—there were tiny blood holes everywhere.
It looked like the punctures were quite deep, possibly even reaching the bone, but perhaps because some ointment had been applied or an anesthetic given, there wasn't much bleeding, and the monkey didn't seem to be in much pain.
The other monkeys were almost the same.
They even seemed numb, as if they had grown accustomed to being pricked like this.
Doudou said with certainty, "There must be a very wicked Nurse Ratched among them! They must be in a lot of pain!"
Nurse Ratched was a character from a TV show that Xue Lixue used to watch as a child.
However, the show had been on reruns for over a decade, and Doudou occasionally watched it too.
Xue Lixue felt a chill seeing the monkeys pricked to such a state.
