People from the West on the Blue Planet rarely find themselves in such dilemmas, and seldom try so hard to extricate themselves which is why they don't understand how important the power of the heart is.
When someone is trapped in a societal predicament and is on the verge of doom, filled with despair, the world in their heart is already distorted. At this time, they need to soothe their hearts, try to calm down, and look for hope and strength.
Then they begin to raise their awareness, and gradually correct that distorted world within their hearts, feeling then that their power is infinite.
It's just a state of mind, after all.
Many discussions on idealism describe this kind of feeling.
If someone is scolded and becomes terribly upset, they seek to calm their emotions through morality and awareness, not through math or physics.
