Chereads / An Afterlife’s Life / Chapter 7 - Radishes

Chapter 7 - Radishes

In the darkest alleys a single adolescent could be seen grasping himself so hard it caused blood to appear.

Little did he know, that his wounds were moving, changing spots, forming something.

'Again, again and again! In my past life, I couldn't stand the rotten, deteriorating corpses of orphans, no one in their right mind could!'

'Yet here again! People with no regard for human life! Am I in the wrong? Is it sinful to be this pathetic mentally?'

Vomiting repeatedly Pazu stood up a left dejected.

His self-pity had turned to simple curiosity, he wondered what made others special? Is it their age, wisdom? But that doesn't excuse their empathetic behaviour towards death!

Pazu, unknowingly was becoming a bit duller to death..

Standing up, he made notice of a crooked board with a news article finely pressed.

["Revolutionary Borris Wa-Ya-Wa, a revolutionary famous for various crimes such as unjustified murder, assault and robbery. Currently wanted for an entire 1 000 817 Yalis or otherwise 1 000 817 000 Croager."]

Having absolutely no idea what even is a 'Yalis' or 'Croager' Pazu simply thinks of the sheer size of the number.

An entire million or otherwise a billion! No matter what monetary value it had it must've been a huge sum. Pazu wasn't exactly sure if these were even the correct terms for it.

~…~…~…~…~…~

Crawling through the depths of the alleys is Borris! Not Borris Wa-Ya-Wa but Borris Hapfen, a revolutionary known for having a insurmountably small bounty of 10 Yalis..

But nonetheless a revolutionary is still a revolutionary even if the difference between is as enormous as a slightly more than leaned tower of Pisa.

Currently Borris Hapfen is in search of a kind, benevolent person for him to leach off of in an act of being a beggar, although this may be a bit delusional, starvation is an odd phenomenon.

Seeing a person being surprised at the contents of an article Borris took this opportunity to politely and patiently ask them for their help.

| Borris Pov |

"OI! Mate! Ya you little lamb."

Startled Pazu stared dumbfounded at Borris.

"May you please assist me in gaining nutrition for my starved self?"

"Sure…"

Pazu wasn't thinking, in fact he was still contemplating of the digits, he hadn't learned enough numbers to be counting in the billions, he quit school at second grade for god's sake!

He could quite easily count to a thousand but even thinking of the correct term for the huge digit was exhausting in his current state.

He followed the now properly standing man absent-mindedly all the way to a cheap dinner.

But by the time he had realized what the homeless man had said numerous minutes had passed! It'd be really awkward to just reject after they both had already arrived.

Hesitantly he had entered.

An alcoholic aroma, uncleaned tables, passed-out men on the doorstep, in his words a two-star restaurant.

"Borris! Long time no see buddy, are you here to hide again? You know I can't do it anymore, my wife has been pretty clear about that, mentally and physically.."

"No no, not that, I'm just here for a little grub, can I get a discount? I'm here with aaah-an old friend who will luckily pay. Isn't that right?" He had stared at the boy with a ferociously starved glare.

Sigh 'Why does this always happen to me? Well I can just run away leaving this bastard with a bill to pay..' Pazu was a bit dulled due to having several mood swings during the day.

"Yep."

Unconvinced, the man had said out of pity of his close friend.

"I'll give you two free sandwiches.. But this is the first and last time! Okay?"

Both nodding, Pazu wondered if his presence even mattered.

"Boy, pick this one, it'll piss him off" Borris had said with a grin as if talking to a lifelong friend while pointing to the menu item with clearly the highest price.

"Don't test you're luck! It's either a grilled cheese or a free ticket to outside!"

"FINE! I'll have two grilled cheeses with a side of radishes. Also put some inside of them both and also on the side okay?"

'Why radishes? Those don't even go well with grilled cheese.'
