September 1st, 1991, 221B Baker Street, London, 8:24 AM.
Up in the spacious attic, Harry's room, sunlight shone through the oval window, bathing the entire room in the warm morning sun of autumn while highlighting the colours of the red and blue painted walls.
The sunlight made its way to the sleepy Osian—the Re'em—making the cocky magical creature snort in displeasure before turning away from the sunlight and continuing its morning nap.
In contrast to the sleepy beast, one could see the figure of a healthy eleven-year-old boy wearing a blue and black checkered shirt, dark trousers, and matching sports shoes. He was sporting black-rimmed glasses, and his rosy cheek was framed with a bright smile. The boy had been diligently tidying his room as well as packing necessities into his brown leather trunk.
While packing things up, Harry couldn't help but remember things that happened ever since his meeting with Luna and becoming her's friends that day.
A lot had happened since then. For some reason, Luna was under his Dad's care; he basically took Luna as his apprentice. Her father would leave her here for most of the day while he was out doing journalistic work.
During that time, Ethan and Luna would usually have private lessons that involved starring and talking about things that were completely unfathomable for the boy, but he could clearly see their eyes glimmering with specks of light. Ethan's dark ember eyes were shone with starlight brilliance, while Luna's grey orbs tinged with a blue hue that lightly stirred the invisible in the air.
Ethan also taught Luna some practical mind magic that greatly aided her specialty, such as Cognition and Mind Palace, both of which the ever-curious girl was delighted to be taught, and quite fast at learning it too!
'It seems like Luna had an affinity for abstractness.' Harry pondered as he continued arranging his suit case.
Along the way, Harry noticed that Ethan taught Luna a lot about subjects that he had never heard of before; they seemed quite mysterious to him. The boy could hardly understand Astrology, Divination, and even Ancient Rune the subject of which he had learned was only the tips of the iceberg compared to those that Ethan presented to Luna.
Soon enough, Luna joined Harry's homeschooling. At first, Harry was amazed by at how fast his friend pick up the pace. For Harry, it was mainly revision and delving into the basics of what he had learned, yet Luna showed that she could quickly keep up with Harry's pace within a few months, she was even one year younger than him!
From the boy's point of view, this was exceptional!
One must know that the girl was rather airhead major times, but by no means was her comprehension any less rather quite insightful. She had shown herself to do very well with Charms much like Harry with his DADA.
Speaking of DADA, for some unknown reasons, the boy's extracurriculars with Ethan on weekends at Hyde Park began to become more intense. Not just the usual exercises, but now Ethan had added a bunch of diverse obtacles, pushing the boy's reflexes, body control, as well as stamina to their limits.
Despite being dead-beat at the beginning, Harry had never questioned Ethan. The boy totally trusted his Dad; he knew that Ethan's always the calculating type, and everything he did had a purpose, whether hidden or not, and this must be for his own good.
Sometimes Luna would tag along too; mostly, she would cheer Harry on the side while playing with the leaves that fallen on her head.
The two would always play around the house after all the studying, and of course, Jasper and Osian would gladly be dragged along.
For some unknown reasons, Luna could get along with the Re'em at first glance, while Harry would still receive the creature's bad attitudes from time to time.
With Luna, Harry never found the moment he could get born; the girl was much more enthusiastic and energetic than him, and she could come up with all sorts of games, from solving Ancient Rune riddle in the wizard magazine to exploring around the house on Osian's back to role-playing Mr. Detective and Ms. Assitant, or they would simply chat about all the things in the world... At one time, Ethan would find the two sleeping soundly from all those activities, surrounded by Jasper and Osian. As all Dads would do, he'd do well to capture this precious moment.
Whilst playing hide and seek, Harry noticed that Luna could always somehow find him and others in the most incredible ways, as well as how she would occasionally mention the names of very strange magical creatures.
Out of curiosity, Harry did ask Ethan about it, and he contributed too Luna's specialty, her ways of navigating in the form of a mist of colours or magical creatures that some had existed in the past.
Either way, Harry wouldn't mind it; Luna was still Luna, his best friend, and he would ask for anything else. The two did have arguments here and there, as everyone did, but they were short-live. Through this, Harry understood one thing: Luna was also much more stubborn when it came to defending her beliefs, but she was also the one with utter patience to explain them, stubborn but also open minded.
Looking at the shelf where all his treasures were neatly placed, the picture Ethan took with him the day he officially was adopted by him, their toy broom,... and a newly taken picture depicting two children smiling brightly whilst having a picnic. This couldn't help but put a smile on the boy's face.
Time flew by before you realised it—just about a month ago, Harry received his Hogwarts acceptance letter under the awe of Luna and congratulations of Ethan. So they began purchasing necessities for school, and Harry got a chance to really stroll along Diagon Alley with Ethan, although he was still very uncomfortable with crowded places and the curious looks of passersby.
So going out with his hood on or a cap on had been his reflex.
Still, the experience was pleasant as he got to know a lot more about the alley, the shops, the prices, getting his first wizard robe... Although buying a wand at Ollivander didn't go smoothly at first, Harry still got the wand, which was 11" long, made of holly, and possessed a phoenix feather core.
Mr. Ollivander had been very surprised that Harry had been so compatible with this wand. "Curious", he had said. Next, Harry only knew that Mr. Ollivander had requested to speak in private with his dad. Anyhow, Harry still favoured his first wand, the one that Ethan crafted especially for him.
Later on, Harry was thrilled to welcome another new creature friend to his humble abode, Hedwig, his pet female snowy owl.
"She's quite a capable owl." Ethan commented, as he was impressed by her intellect in performing tricks and tasks.
It was at this moment that Harry noticed the family weight on his head, snapping the boy out of his reminiscence. "Hey, Jasper." Harry took Jasper in his hand, caressing his frigid little yellow friend.
*Thud Thud*
*Crack*
"Hah-ree, Are you done yet? Mr. Esther said we should get going; the train's about to start." Said the cheerful little girl with gleaming big grey eyes. On top of her head was a beautiful white owl.
Pronouncing his name by changing the first syllable from 'e' to 'a' had become a habit for her; it was her nickname for Harry, which the boy gladly accepted.
Harry smiled as he replied. "I'll be there in a minute, Luna!"
"Okey," with that said the girl went as swiftly as she came.
Finishing the packing up, Harry put on his black hoodie and his trusty enchanted satchel before coming down. Harry didn't forget to bid farewell, monotonously, to the sleepy Osian, to which he only replied with a simple snort.
Upon reaching the front door, Harry greeted his Dad, who, as always, dressed elegantly like a gentleman in the early twentieth century, wearing a fashionable outer coat on top of his usual waistcoat and tie, a low-rise top hat accompanied by his square-frame glasses that further accentuated his charming sholarly look.
On the side, Luna dresses in a simple sailor dress, matching outer coat, and cabbie.
"Alright, let's get going." Ethan said calmly.
September 1st, 1991, King's Cross Station, London, 8:52 AM.
"Plantform 1, 2 , 3 , 4..." Harry mumbled the numbers of each platform The three crossed by with Luna whilst Ethan shook his head and smiled.
Soon, the three came to Platform 9. Harry was puzzled as to where Platform 9¾ could be, and Luna on the side was looking curious all around, but soon in the girl's field of vision she saw magical creatures coming in and out of the wall with Platform 9 and ten on both sides.
"Is it here?" Luna exclaimed.
"Correct Luna." Ethan commented as he gestured for Harry to go first. "We'll be right behind you."
Harry nodded to the two before swallowing a big gulp as he held onto the strap of his satchel. With his head slightly lowered, the boy ran towards the wall.
With a swoosh as if coming through a tunnel, laid before Harry's eyes was Platform 9¾, the platform from which the red Hogwarts Express broaded. It was then that the boy noticed the palpation of his heart as a sign of excitement.
For the first time, Harry got to see many children of his age surrounding the place, and it was certain that they were also coming to Hogwarts. The boy could see all sorts of wizards with their families in various outfits, from all walks of life, coming in and out of the train.
As Harry turned back, he also saw Ethan and Luna pass through the wall with his cart of luggage.
"Welcome to Platform 9¾, Harry."
