Chapter 4 - Freedom and a Slime

A/N: I want to make something clear. Veldora does NOT have Reality Manipulation. He can only decide the outcomes of events that are happening and change the outcomes of events in the past within reason. He can't create his own fanfiction kingdom to rule and thousands of TD Level servants just because he can change things that happened in the past. He can only alter events in ways that make sense, like making it so that someone who should have died, didn't, or that a kingdom that was destroyed because of him survived.

.~.~.~.

"Ugh!" I moaned as I stretched my body after awakening and looked around.

I had fallen asleep when altering my Skills and had just now woken up. As I got to my feet, I began to look around at the cave I was in. On the surface, not much had seemingly changed, however, as I looked around, I noticed that the walls and ceiling, and pretty much everything had been converted into more of that pure crystal I saw everywhere and now the otherworldly plant looked like it carpeted the ground thickly. I could no longer even see the floor it was that dense.

"How long was I out?" I asked myself before immediately getting an answer.

"I was asleep for 88 years!?!" I yelled out loud in shock and surprise for a moment before feeling dizzy and sitting down to steady myself.

"How the hell did that happen?" I asked, skimming over all the information that was pouring into my head at the moment.

Apparently, I'd entered into something called 'Sleep Mode' due to over usage of my internal magicule supply, which caught me off-guard. I didn't even realize that that was a thing and if what my power was leading me to believe was true, then I'd been extremely lucky that I didn't just die due to using up my magical energy. Apparently, for spiritual lifeforms like myself, if I used up all of my energy to its last drop, I'd just die. My body is literally made of energy, so if I didn't subconsciously hold back enough to keep my body maintained, my constitution would have literally fallen apart.

"Alright, new plan. Don't get yourself killed!" I told myself as I stood up and surveyed the [Unlimited Imprisonment] which surrounded me.

I knew exactly how it functioned in an instant. It seems that even in my sleep, the Thought Partician from [Parallel Operation] had kept using [Analytical Appraisal] on it the entire time I was asleep. With [Investigator] being upgraded into [Faust] boosting my computational power and though processing speed, combined with my lack of consciousness freeing up a ton of computational power, I was able to drastically lower the amount of time it took to analyze my way out of my prison.

I smirked exasperatedly. "Yeah, I think I know more about this '[Unlimited Imprisonment]' than the Hero who sealed me does now." I thought to myself as I stood up again, regaining my senses.

I closed my eyes and began using my Intrinsic Skill [Universal Shapeshift] to transform my draconic body into a smaller, more maneuverable form. When my eyes opened, I smirked, having taken on a much more 'normal' size. I held out my hand and used magic to create a polished surface of ice in front of me to act as a mirror so I could look at myself.

"Damn, I look good," I said to myself with a confident smirk.

I was taller now than in my previous life, probably about 6'6" or 2 meters. My skin was darker than my previous life as Christian but my face was much sharper and more handsome. I had short messy blonde hair and glowing golden eyes. My 'little brother' was also at a much more 'healthy' size too. It was never small to begin with but now I could kill a bitch with it.

"I'm not gay but... damn. I'd fuck me." I said, allowing my vanity to shine through. I closed my eyes and began to think. "What did the people of this world dress like again?" I asked aloud before coming up with something immediately.

"It's a bit Eastern, but I like it," I said, using magic to create myself a pair of black and yellow clothes with gold accessories to accent them.

I scanned over my clothes, quickly noting that they were at God-Grade, the highest level any piece of equipment could hope to achieve in terms of quality and performance. I dismissed the Ice Mirror and began to scan through the timeline of the world and what I'd missed. While a lot has changed, most things have stayed the same. Sure new human rulers had risen and fallen and whatnot and otherworlders had seemingly become more frequent, but on the whole, the world seemed to be almost identical to how it was before. The only noteworthy exception is that the Eastern Empire had seemingly gone through a magical version of the Industrial Revolution but what that entails, I have no clue. The other was the seeming disappearance of the Hero Chronoa. The one who had sealed me has disappeared which is both worrisome and nice.

It's nice that they won't be checking in on me and thus I won't have to fight them again, but worrisome that I didn't know where they went and didn't want them showing up at a bad time and ruining my day. Their location is probably concealed by magic or a Skill if I can't sense them, but as long as I don't cause any trouble, I think I'll be fine. /1\

Thinking of the Hero got me to remember my magic and martial arts research that I'd left running for 88 years, so I turned my attention to those and what I discovered was both shocking and so exciting I couldn't help but smile. Practically ALL of my martial arts were perfect. they had no openings and nearly all of my attacks contained some sort of Storm Magic incorporated into my [Dragon Spirit Haki], so even the slightest brush with my aura would cause devastating effects on my enemies and if they weren't using at least God-Grade equipment to block my attacks, then my magic could bypass any of their defenses. Even if I punched a shielded opponent in full plate armor inside of an anti-magic area field, they'd die instantly.

I was almost giddy with excitement at how OP I was in just my martial arts. My Magic was... less impressive. As it turns out, most of what I learned either was inferior to Storm Magic in terms of output and damage, or was utility magic that, while helpful, wouldn't help me win any fights. The ice mirror I'd created was an example of that. If it came down to a fight, I'd say I was as close to prepared as I'd ever be. The only thing I need now is experience as otherwise, I don't think I was beatable as I am now.

I looked to the [Unlimited Imprisonment0 that surrounded me and smirked. 'Begone" I said commanding the Skill to cease as I applied what I'd learned from the information I had while I slumbered.

The next instant, the Skill that chained me down for almost 300 years was gone at last.

"Whoooooo!!!!!" I cheered, feeling excitement bubble up within me as I took off into the cave, flying around freely. After doing figure eights and barrel rolls while running up and down the walls of the cave and goofing off like a child for what was probably a full hour, I finally calmed myself down and allowed myself to fall into a large underground lake of water below me.

*Splash!*

I didn't mind the water or the lack of air as I allowed myself to sink to the bottom and relax for a moment, basking in the bliss of my freedom. The thought did cross my mind that this was probably the last vestiges of the original Veldora from before we merged that was causing me to be so happy, but I didn't really mind it. I wasn't the old Veldora and I wasn't the old Christian, I was 'me'. Sure I took on Veldora's name, but I was a different person altogether.

As my body lay on the floor of the lake I opened my eyes to look up at the surface of the water, dreaming about everything I could possibly get up to in my new life. I wasn't on a timer, so it's not like I had to rush anything, however, I didn't want to laze around doing nothing. I'd already spent close to 300 years in this dreary cave doing that, now it was time for change.

"I should get a hobby... and a girlfriend," I said to myself, though underwater the noise came out as nothing but bubbles and gibberish. I got up off the ground and pushed myself upright before I began to leisurely swim to the surface of the pool, thinking about all the things I was going to do when, the moment my head breached the surface, a slime fell onto my face.

"Ah! What the f*ck!?!" I yelled as I tried yanking off the slimy creature from my face.

'It's sticky and wet and annoying, and it's getting everywhere!' I cursed.

The next moment, the slime began to expand its body in an attempt to consume me whole.

'This f*cker!' I yelled as I undid my Human Form and returned to my full-blown Dragon Form.

The moment I did this, the slime stopped expanding and looked panicked. "That's right you fucker! Who do you think you were trying to eat!?!"

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't know what you were!" I squealed.

"Do you just eat anything you come across!?!" I shouted back, scolding the creature.

It deflated like a balloon, rolling off my head and into my hand. "I'm sorry! I can't see anything so I just eat whatever it is I come across!" I squealed back.

I took a deep breath. I was in such a good mood earlier and today was a day of celebration, so I decided that I would let it off the hook. "Well whatever, just pay attention next time," I said with a slightly annoyed tone.

"I-I will try!" It said.

"Do or do not, there is no try." I quoted offhandedly.

"I- wait a second... where did you hear that from?" It asked.

"Someone wise from another galaxy far far away once said it. Don't let it bother you." I explained.

"You are talking about Yoda! From Star Wars!!!" I exclaimed with excitement.

I was stunned and taken aback that this slime had seen Star Wars before.

"Wait, are you..." I asked hesitantly.

"Yeah! I'm a person from Earth too!" He exclaimed.

My eyes widened at that. "You're a person from Earth too? But you're a slime!"

The slime deadpanned at me. "You're a dragon"

"Point taken," I replied, liking this guy more and more the more we spoke.

"Well, if it's any consultation, I am Veldroa. I merged souls with a True Dragon 88 years ago and now I'm here." I introduced myself.

"Well I'm Satoru, Mikami Satoru, and I'm a slime who was stabbed to death and reincarnated a few weeks ago." He explained.

Thoughts and memories crossed my mind as he said this and I recalled an old conversation with Veldanava about the reincarnation process. "You typically lose your name when you reincarnate and need to receive a new one, like how mine's 'Veldora' now," I explained.

"Ehh? Why can't I just be 'Satoru' or something," he asked.

"I don't make up the rules, I just break 'em" I said with a shrug.

"That's not how that line is supposed to go... but a new name for myself huh?" The slime began to think.

"I can name you if you want," I stated.

"Why would you name me?" He asked.

"Well technically it was my leaking magicules that created the conditions for you to be reincarnated here as a slime, so technically you're my kid, plus if I name you, you'll get the Divine Protection of the Storm Dragon, which will gift you a whole bunch of stuff," I explained.

"I guess that makes sense, but don't expect me to start calling you 'daddy' or something" the slime explained.

"If you did I'd turn you into a slimy fleshlight" I shot back.

"Ewwww!!!! I'm a guy!" the slime replied.

"Eh? I thought you were a girl. Isn't Mikimi a girl's name?" I asked.

"No! What's with your Japanese!?!" He declared defiantly

"I'm American but ok" I shot back

"Oh..."

There was an awkward silence.

"Enough about that, I'll give you a name!" I said before thinking for a moment.

I was about to name him 'Emils', which is just Slime backward using the old Dracula/Alucard thing when I suddenly felt the overwhelming urge to name him something else. I focused on it for a moment and realized it was coming from my Ultimate Skill [Faust]. It was like if I didn't name him correctly that something bad would occur in my future.

"How about the name 'Rimuru'?" I asked.

"Rimuru? That... that sounds fine. Rimuru huh?" The slime stated as he mulled over his own name for a moment.

"That sounds great! From now on, I'll be Rimuru!" Rimuru declared before his Slime body hopped up into the air and began to swirl around itself like water in a washing machine for a few moments. /2\

After his transformation was completed and he calmed down, Rimuru called back out to me. "Thanks for the name, Veldora!"

"No problem Rimuru... say. I was about to head out of here, did you want to come with me? I'll let you ride on my head." I said, eager to leave this place with my new slime buddy.

"Huh, uh, sure. I don't know about the 'being on your head bit though." He said.

I raised an eyebrow. "Why? Can't resist trying to eat me again or something?" I asked.

"No, it's not that, its just that I can't see anything." Rimuru replied, rather shyly.

I shook my head. "Let me teach you a Skill called [Universal Detect]. It should help you out a lot. I insisted as I poked Rimuru's slimy body and began to transfer the information to his mind.

"So, did you get it?" I asked after a couple of seconds.

"Not quite, [Great Sage] is analyzing it." Rimuru stated.

"[Great Sage] is that your Unique Skill?" I asked cautiously.

"Yeah, it's a great skill! I think it's almost too amazing for a slime to have." Rimuru replied.

"Well, I had a similar Skill so I get it. It's nice how the information is just injected into your head, right? However, in the future, make sure to keep knowledge of such things to yourself. Just knowing that you have that Skill makes it easier for me to defeat you if we ever come to blows! However, since you have that Skill, you should spend your time while you can researching magic and Skills, it'll really help you out in the long run." I tried giving Rimuru a lecture but failed to notice he wasn't paying attention.

"Oh! I can get [Magic Sense]!" He shouted.

"H-Hey were you list-" I tried but was cut off.

"Whoah! I never thought I'd be able to see this good and- AAAAHHHHH!!!! DRAGON!!!!!!!" Rimuru exclaimed in fright as he looked at me.

'No, I told you I was a dragon though' I thought to myself as Rimuru freaked out.

.~.~.~.

/1\: Despite [Faust]'s [Truth of Creation] being OP, it isn't omniscience, he can only get general information unless he directly observes/analyzes the target, in which case he gets everything and nothing can be hidden from him.

/2\: Veldora named Rimuru as a friend/equal naming since Rimuru did not consent to being Veldora's subordinate. Rimuru got no power from this naming, however, he still received Veldora's Divine Protection and a Soul Corridor was established.
