Chapter 176 - Chapter 176: Rience’s Downfall

"Cintra!" Lann raised the Aerondight Sword. The rune sword, which had already accumulated many layers of damage, was still dazzling in the daytime, making him look like he was holding a torch. "Charge!"

"For Cintra, for Lannister!"

The cavalry raised their lances and charged towards the Wild Ones army with unstoppable momentum.

Lann and Letho formed a sign with their hands, gathering a wave of energy in their palms.

[Aard Sign]!

The bursts of telekinetic energy merged, brutally breaking through the enemy ranks.

They were both powerful witchers, and the power of their combined signs could not be measured by normal standards. The impact of the sign unleashed an incredible force.

The Wild Ones' vanguard cavalrymen were blown off their horses without any resistance and were trampled to a pulp by their comrades behind them.

The Wild Ones' cavalry formation, already precarious, became even more disorganized.

Letho's warhorse, unable to withstand the enormous force of recoil, staggered, falling behind Lann. On the contrary, Black Wind seemed excited.

Lann covered himself with the Quen Sign. Then he led the charge, Black Wind neighing excitedly, and charged into the disordered line of enemy cavalry.

"The Earl has opened a breach in the enemy defense!" House shouted. "Cintra Cavalry, let us follow our Lord to the death!"

"Charge!"

The cavalry lances crashed into the formation of the Wild Ones' troops.

House felt an incredible force through his arm, breaking a body and a horse's head. Trained for this, he dropped the spear and drew his sword, seeing an enemy leap towards him.

"For the chief!"

He was a rider for the Wild Ones, using an unusual jumping tactic to attack, surprising House and knocking him off his horse.

He fell heavily, with the enemy on top of him. House's enhanced strength due to the Follower panel allowed him to draw his sword quickly, recovering before his opponent.

The next moment the enemy's head flew off, spraying blood.

House looked around in the chaos and found that many Cintra cavalrymen were also tricked like him. Now he understood why this army of Wild Ones had the courage to wear light armor and fight against them.

Arrows streaked across the battlefield, each shot from Milva felling an enemy, saving the surprised knights.

"Hold your ground!" House roared. "They're nowhere near as tough as the Nilfgaardians!"

...

On the other side, Lann was like a gust of black wind rolling through the Wild Ones army's formation.

Some of the Wild Ones wanted to urge their horses forward, but they actually showed hesitation at Black Wind's neighing. The horses that were forced forward were torn and bitten by the maniacal witcher horse. And their riders met a quick death before the Sword Aerondight.

Some warriors jumped from their horses trying to strike down Lann, but they only saw a flash of light pass before their eyes, before their consciousness was snatched away in the spray of blood.

"Lannister!" Olgierd's eyes lit up, and he rushed towards Lann waving his scimitar.

The Wild Ones spontaneously made way for their leader.

The last von Everec faced the last Lannister.

[Clang!]

Olgierd's red scimitar and Lann's rune sword collided in the air, producing a clang that sent the warriors around them reeling back.

Lann's right hand trembled violently. Olgierd's strength was even comparable to his own.

Olgierd's hand was bleeding, but it healed quickly as he smiled more brightly.

The first clash had no winner.

Black Wind, furious, collided with Olgierd's horse, whose bones instantly cracked.

Olgierd's horse, frightened and bleeding, reared back, while Black Wind continued forward.

With his witcher eyes shining, Black Wind bit into the enemy horse's neck, breaking bones and muscles.

Black Wind ripped the enemy horse's head off, retreating four steps before letting go. Olgierd staggered on the horse's back and couldn't control his center of gravity at all. He could only abandon the horse and leap towards Lann.

Only to be stopped by a hand forming a sign.

[Aard Sign]!

"I don't have time to play with you now, I'll deal with you later."

The shockwave hit Olgierd, sending him flying and landing heavily, even being crushed by the corpse of his own horse.

Olgierd writhed violently on the ground, and within a few seconds, his wounds were completely healed.

"Don't run! Lannister!"

He stood up with a roar, but then the sword light that came from nowhere cut off most of his neck, and his head turned directly behind his back, leaving only a layer of skin and flesh dangling.

Olgierd was stunned for a few seconds before reacting. Abruptly, he grabbed his hair with his right hand and pulled his head back into place.

As his neck healed, Olgierd looked at the muscular, bald man who had appeared before him. This was clearly a formidable foe, so tall that he was more than a head taller than him.

Seeing Olgierd's neck regenerate, Letho put away his steel sword and unsheathed a silver sword adorned with a snake head.

"For someone like you, poisons probably won't work," Letho said coldly. "Show me how immortal you really are."

...

With Olgierd no longer blocking the way, Lann once again rode full speed on Black Wind, tearing through the enemies.

Within seconds, he broke through the enemy formation, finding himself with a clear view with no more riders in his way.

Except for a weird-looking man wearing iron armor but without a sword.

Rience.

At this moment, the other party was chanting something, and the air around him was constantly compressed and twisted.

Lann, having broken through the enemies, saw that Rience was still casting spells and did not hesitate. He pulled out a loaded crossbow from his inventory and fired an arrow.

Rience cast the spell, the distorted energy shooting towards Lann, catching the arrow in its path. But to Rience's surprise, the arrow barely moved, continuing its course straight towards him.

The arrow had a tip made of Dimeritium, it was a gift from Jerome.

Milva's archery talent had enhanced Lann's skill to levels comparable to his swordsmanship. Rience fell from his horse with a scream, an arrow piercing his armor. The armor saved his life.

Black Wind charged and knocked the opponent's warhorse away. Lann took advantage of the momentum and leapt, launching himself towards Rience.

The sorcerer pulled the arrow from his chest, before rolling awkwardly on the ground to avoid Lann.

Getting up with difficulty, Rience began to conjure again.

"Rience, I like your new leg. Very magical. Have you considered changing the other one too?"

The sorcerer glared at Lann, only to see a massive black shadow bearing down on him.

It was Lannister's strange horse!

With a bang, a blue protective shield rose up, but Rience was shocked. The impact was stronger than expected.

Black Wind just shook his head. He then raised his front paws and struck again, forcing Rience to keep the protective shield in place and unable to move.

Rience was not as powerful in magic as other sorcerers, but he was skilled at seizing opportunities in combat.

Taking advantage of a pause in Black Wind's attacks, Rience raised his left hand, which was shining with light.

At that moment Lann had already arrived near him and knowing that Black Wind could not withstand a magical attack, with a quick movement, he took the Silver Gryphon Sword from his inventory, and under Rience's terrified gaze, he brought it down with all his strength against the protective shield.

With a bang, the blue shield shattered.

At the same time Rience spun, launching a bolt of lightning at Lann, breaking his Quen shield and sending him flying backwards.

With a thud, Black Wind launched Rience in the direction Lann was thrown.

With the protection of the Quen Sign, Lann was not injured at all. He skillfully adjusted his posture in the air, landed safely, and walked towards Rience calmly, placing a Yrden Sign on the ground.

The purple magic circle enveloped the sorcerer, eliminating any chance of escape.

Rience kept spitting blood foam from his mouth, and it seemed that he had no strength to continue chanting the spell. His armor was completely sunk, his bones surely broken.

Lann approached Rience step by step, his eyes shining coldly.

"Don't… kill me." Rience pleaded with difficulty under the effects of the magic circle and his injuries. "I can… tell you who is behind all this."

"It's not... it's not just Nilfgaard, it's also…"

Before Rience could continue, Lann's Gryphon medallion on his neck began to vibrate. His eyes narrowed, he felt a disturbance of magical energy.

Rience must have had some magical device or some other kind of surveillance that allowed his superior to monitor his situation in real time, which was why he was able to rescue him in a timely manner last time.

A gale arose and a teleportation portal opened, shining with a blinding red light.

But Lann was no longer the same. Although only a month had passed, his power had increased enormously.

At the edge of the Yrden circle surrounding Rience, an hourglass symbol erupted with a purple ray of light, striking the portal.
