Chapter 130 - Chapter 130: The Princess's Request

Immediately after Lann heard Adda's lazy voice, he felt a softness pressing on his back. Two delicate arms hugged his neck, and red hair gently brushed his neck, cheek, and shoulder.

"Why are you wearing my clothes?" Lann was stunned upon hearing the question. He looked down and realized that he was wearing Adda's cloak.

When he woke up he was too confused, and randomly took the cloak without realizing that it was not his.

"I was recording the events in Temeria and writing a letter for Yarpen to take back to Cintra."

It was naturally impossible for Lann to tell Adda the contact method of the Griffin School, so he made up a random reason. At this moment, he had finished writing the notes and closed the notebook.

Turning around, Lann examined the princess, who still wore a sleepy expression, and noticed that her strands of white hair had disappeared.

Adda, seeing Lann staring at her, smiled with satisfaction. Looking into those lion eyes, she had a sudden idea. "Lann, can you help me clean the Verrieres family crypt? "I want to see your skills as a witcher."

Adda showed a worried expression. "I want to make sure the tax collector obeys me, that way White Orchard will be mine. Having those Wraiths in my territory would make me very uncomfortable."

Lann was thoughtful, not because of Adda's words, but because at this moment the system made a notification sound.

[Mission detected - Family Peace:

There are a large number of wandering wraiths in the Verrieres family crypt. The dead cannot rest, and the living find no peace. Ashes upon ashes, earth upon earth, the souls of the dead must return to where they belong, and it is up to the witchers to right this wrong.]

It was a monster hunting mission. What surprised Lann was not the appearance of the mission, but the moment when it appeared.

The tax collector had also asked him to eliminate the wraiths, why didn't the quest appear then and now it does with Princess Adda's request? Could it be because the collector offered no reward?

Seeing Lann's silent expression as he thought about it, Adda seemed to have misunderstood something. She leaned closer to Lann and lowered her voice a little lower: "What's wrong, witcher? The Lion of Cintra can't handle this?"

Lann snapped out of his reverie with a contemptuous look. Did this woman she think she could manipulate him so easily? Between him and her there was only an exchange of interests, without any other type of involvement.

But before he could refuse righteously, another notification sound came from the system.

[Mission - Family Peace - Completed]

Lann was stunned again, and his eyes became clear. What does this mean?

Based on his previous experience in Cintra and Brokilon, once he accepted a mission, it was his. No matter who completed it, he would receive the experience.

Could it be that someone was fighting the wraiths just when he accepted the quest, allowing him to complete the task effortlessly?

He had to go investigate.

Looking into Princess Adda's eyes, Lann nodded and stood up to go to the crypt to check the situation.

But Adda smiled happily after seeing Lann agree to her request and was very satisfied with the results of her test. She didn't care what happened to the wraiths in the crypt. She only cared about whether the person in front of her agreed to her request.

"Are you really as interested in these things as the rumors I've heard. I've heard that they even made up a saying for you, something like 'Lannister, always pay your debts'?"

Lann, while dressing, answered without turning: "This does not mean that I am willing to help others."

"But I will punish those who have been helped by me but then refuse to pay the reward, then I will repay them with vengeance. I will definitely also punish those who offend me."

Princess Adda was a little dissatisfied with Lann's departure. She didn't really want Lann to leave here to kill wraiths.

Suddenly, her eyes flashed with mischief. She snuck up on Lann and, to his bewildered gaze, she bit his neck, leaving a mark.

Then, with a flirtatious smile, she threw herself onto the bed. "Now that I have offended you, what are you going to do, Lannister?"

Lann stopped what he was doing and looked at the princess in front of him, narrowing his lion eyes dangerously. This was the time of the hunt. "Every debt must be paid!"

...

It wasn't until noon that Lann finished his 'hunt'.

He arrived at the Verrieres family crypt and met Keira Metz.

The sorceress was ordering several White Orchard guards to enter the crypt and take something out from inside.

There were several corpses of guards at the door of the crypt. They all looked scared and died miserably.

Seeing Lann coming over, Keira Metz sniffed playfully and smelled a familiar smell.

Lann looked at the dead soldiers. This was the reason why he never took the city guards to hunt monsters in the wild in Cintra. It was also the reason why the Cintra cavalry did not join him in hand-to-hand combat with the Chort.

Although any monster can theoretically be defeated with enough people, the cost is high.

Ordinary people lack the knowledge and experience to face monsters. In theory, a peasant with a pitchfork can kill a drowner, but in reality, armored soldiers are often seen being torn to pieces by them.

And much less when it comes to wraiths. Even with Keira Metz's help, the guards suffered heavy casualties.

"The king heard the news that there was a Chort wandering here and immediately asked me to come and check on his precious daughter. But it seems that Princess Adda is not without 'protection'."

The sorceress joked as she saw that Lann seemed to be paying close attention to the fallen guards. Then she explained: "Although Verrieres is an idiot, but you always have to see the corpse to be sure."

"And the death dust obtained from wraith corpses is good alchemy material. I heard that you refused to hunt these wraiths yesterday. If you ask me nicely, maybe I'll share some with you."

Lann now understood why his mission of hunting monsters had suddenly been completed.

Maybe Keira would benefit from this, but Lann had nothing to lose either.

He didn't respond to Keira's teasing. Under other circumstances, Lann would have exchanged some pleasantries with her, but after so many rounds of 'battles', he was not in the mood.

After all, witchers don't fight unprepared.

And just when Lann arrived at the entrance of the crypt, he suddenly felt a vibration from the Griffin School's contact notebook. It was obviously a reply from Jerome.

...

After a while, Lann rode Black Wind to the entrance of White Orchard, where there was a large sign.

Jerome had been to White Orchard before, but he did not remember the exact location of the lord's mansion. Therefore, opening a precise teleportation portal was not possible and they opted for a location known to both of them.

"Count, who are we waiting for?" Leo asked.

Yes, Lann wanted to take Leo back to the Gryphon School to see if the school's two teachers would be willing to accept him as an apprentice.

Lann put a finger to his lips, signaling Leo to be silent. Immediately, there was a reaction.

With a loud bang, the wind blew up leaves and grasses, and a large section of the fence was torn apart by the dimensional portal.

Lann looked about thirty meters away, where a portal opened in the middle of the village fence.

The portal was slightly crooked, suggesting that White Orchard was no longer as Jerome remembered it after so many years.

Fortunately, it wasn't a big problem.

Lann tried to move forward, but Black Wind stubbornly retreated, refusing to move forward, no matter how much Lann egged him on.

Lann's dark golden eyes met Black Wind's amber eyes.

This horse...

Lann sighed. "Okay, go and let House know to get some men to repair this fence. After all, we were the ones who destroyed it..."

"It doesn't have to be perfect, just leave enough room for the portal to open. I'll probably use this place next time I come back."

It was unclear how much Black Wind understood, but as soon as Lann finished speaking, the horse happily rode away.

The portal expanded a little more, as if urging Lann to move quickly.

Lann took a deep breath, lowered his head, ran and after landing he began to retch.

 Standard procedure.

Jerome stood in front of Lann. Then, with a wave of his hand, the portal disappeared.

Watching Lann take a while to recover from the dizziness, Jerome smiled. Then he looked at the child who was holding Lann in panic. "Is this the boy you mentioned in your notes? The boy who gave himself as a reward for burying his friend?"

Lann nodded. "Yes, his name is Leo. I have seen from his destiny that he has the talent of a witcher, at least part of it."
