Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: Delving Into Forgotten Ruins

Drowned brain, drowned tongue, monster claw, etc. Geralt left nothing, no corpse was left unexamined.

Swade seemed a little curious. After a few glances, he couldn't stand it anymore and was so disgusted that he backed away. Killing enemies on the battlefield is one thing, but close contact with dissection is another.

"Why do you collect all these things?"

Geralt glanced at Swade and felt a little strange about the attendant's question: "Few people would be interested in these."

Swade replied: "The earl seems interested, so I need to familiarize myself. I might have to do this in the future."

Geralt snorted expressionlessly, did not sneer, and turned to dissection and explained: "The materials of these monsters can be used in alchemy, to make magic potions, oils for swords, and even some enchantments for weapons."

The witcher groped around in the flesh and blood, and suddenly tightened his hands, as if he had gained something.

Swade watched as Geralt pulled out a strange blue fabric of flesh and blood from the Drowned dead's head. "I found it... this is quite rare, it's called 'Lesser blue mutagen'. It's more versatile but also rarer."

Regular mutagens drop from some of the slightly stronger, organic monsters. That notably excludes the weakest enemies such as Drowners and ghouls, while their stronger counterparts (drowned dead and Alghouls respectively) may drop them at random. Generally speaking, there are three types of Regular mutagens: red, blue, and green.

For witchers, mutagens can be used to slightly increase their abilities. Of course, there is an upper limit to this increase in power, and Geralt no longer needs to take these.

Red mutagen can improve attack power, blue mutagen can improve Sign intensity, and green mutagen can improve a witcher's vitality. In addition to these three regular mutagens, there are also powerful monsters that produce special mutagens. These mutagens have more unique effects.

In addition, mutagens are also widely used by alchemists for other purposes. For example, the Trial of the Grasses from the Witcher Trials requires the use of mutagens.

Once Geralt finished cleaning all the bodies of the Drowners, he finally took off his armor satisfied. The druid then casts nature spells on all those about to dive, allowing them to hold their breath underwater for a long time.

After the spell, the druid warned the human soldiers to remember to come to the surface every five minutes. Geralt is familiar with this kind of magic, and his physique can stay underwater for a longer period of time.

The divers jumped into the water one by one, while Lann and his party waited quietly on the shore.

"My Lord, the Earl!" Suddenly a soldier emerged from the water and shouted excitedly. It seemed that he had gained something.

Lann stood up, looking expectant.

"I found a box with several gold necklaces and diamonds in it!"

Lann sat back again and shouted angrily: "It's not this, go down and keep looking!"

After a while, another soldier surfaced:

"My Lord, I found a body under the water. He had a bag with several gems in it..."

"It's not this, get out and keep looking!"

After another while, a soldier surfaced.

"My Lord, I seem to have found Dimeritium!"

"Go away...forget it, you should try to catch this first. Is it worthy of being a ruin? How come there is everything here?"

Time passed by minute by minute, and when the sun was fading, Geralt finally surfaced. "I found the portal."

Lann became excited, Geralt was still reliable at the critical moment!

After hearing Geralt's information, Lann did not rush to dive. Instead, the nearby druid cast a spell to hold his breath and followed Geralt underwater.

Meanwhile, on the shore, Lann called for all the soldiers to gather and collect all the equipment, waiting silently.

Within minutes, before everyone's eyes, yellow sparks began to flicker in the air. Quickly followed by the rapid expansion of a black whirlpool, large enough to accommodate two people, accompanied by a wind that messed up everyone's hair.

This is the portal opened by the druid.

Lann turned around and nodded to two guards and ordered: "You stay here to guard Black Wind and set up camp while you wait for our return. If more than three days pass and we haven't returned, call for reinforcements. Understood?"

"Yes! My Lord the Earl!"

Lann nodded, turned around and got into the portal first. After a severe dizziness, he opened his eyes again, and the scenery in front of him had changed.

The divers who entered first had lit torches all around, and it was vaguely visible that this was a corner of an underground ruins, surrounded by the remains of some ancient buildings. In the darkness, half sections of beams and pillars with carved patterns could be seen, plus the ground is covered in bloodmoss.

The layer of dust on the ground was thick. It was evident that this place had not seen sunlight for a long time.

One after another, they all passed through the portal. The druid, after making sure everyone was present, finally stopped keeping the portal open, it seemed to take a lot of effort to keep it active for so long.

The divers began to re-wear their armor. This is the most important significance of the druid joining this exploration team.

If it were an ordinary exploration team, they would have to travel lightly in order to enter through the underwater portal. They would probably only have small pieces of iron equipment on them, let alone armor.

With such basic equipment, if they encountered any powerful monster guarding the ruins, they would probably be wiped out on the spot.

And if a druid enters the ruins first, he can open the portal for Lann through positioning and transport fully armed soldiers in, so he can be more confident in facing the dangers in the ruins.

Swade lifted Geralt's things and handed them to him. The witcher was squatting on the ground rubbing his temples with a headache. The witcher's senses are much sharper than those of ordinary people. When passing through the portal, ordinary people will only feel short-term dizziness, but what a warlock feels is greatly magnified.

In most cases, a witcher would rather ride a horse for two or three days than enter the portal.

After passing through the portal, Lann and his group began to prepare, officially beginning the exploration.

The two guards who did not enter the portal were left waiting with Black Wind.

The camp on top of the cliff had already been dismantled and lowered down. The two of them were slowly rebuilding it; It wasn't too hard work.

However, Black Wind seemed uneasy. He neighed constantly and scraped the ground with his hooves.

One of the guards quickly approached to calm him down, angering the other, who shouted: "You should finish your part of the job first. Why do you care so much about the horse?"

The companion replied angrily: "Shut up. Black Wind is worth more than the two of us combined."

"This is an excellent warhorse, it is said that it was a birthday gift from Her Majesty the Queen to Princess Cirilla. And then the princess gave it to the Earl."
