Chapter 50 - Reinforcements Unveiled: Lucca's Group Emerges from the Shadows

"Emily!" shouted the swordsman from the group, his voice echoing through the tense atmosphere. "What are you doing?" he continued, his brows furrowing in disbelief and confusion at Emily's unexpected betrayal.

"David, screw you!" Emily shot back defiantly, her tone edged with a mix of anger and determination.

As Anthony, the inquisitive member of the group, approached where Emily stood, he couldn't help but wonder about the unfolding drama. "What's going on, Emily?" he asked, his curiosity evident in his furrowed brow and concerned eyes.

"They want to assassinate you!" Emily declared with a deadly serious expression, her eyes locking onto Anthony's.

"I don't think you need to be a genius to figure that out!" replied Anthony, a perplexed look on his face. Though he had already sensed someone targeting his life, he sought more information to piece together the puzzle of betrayal.

"No time for discussions, we need to run!" she yelled urgently, casting a quick glance over her shoulder and spotting their former companions closing in, the urgency in her voice signaling the imminent danger they faced.

(Lucca's group perspective)

Lucca breathed a sigh of relief" pwe" upon seeing on the map, realizing that Anthony had managed to escape the assassins' siege. However, the bigger surprise lay in discovering that one of the assassins had aided him, leaving Lucca intrigued by the intricacies of the situation.

Amidst the turmoil, a voice spoke up in the group. "Maybe they've already returned to the fortress! I warned that it was a lie!" The voice, clearly Nolan's, reflected the weariness of a fruitless pursuit.

A tense silence hung over the group. As they agreed with Nolan, Lucca felt the need to reaffirm his leadership. "Just a little further!" he said with authority, realizing the importance of maintaining the group's motivation, which was starting to waver.

Some members sighed, while others simply shrugged, resigned to the necessity of pressing on. Feeling the urgency of the moment, Lucca quickened his pace, determined to do whatever it took to arrive on time and face the unknown that awaited them.

(Returning to Anthony's pov's.)

"Emily, we need to take action! If we don't, we'll be caught!" Anthony's words were laced with fear as he spoke, the urgency of their situation sinking in as their pursuers closed in at an alarming speed.

In response, Emily swiftly turned, unleashing a barrage of three arrows toward their oncoming adversaries. Despite her efforts, the outcome was far from ideal; The agile assailant closed in with swift precision, executing a targeted attack aimed directly at her chest.

Anthony, quick on his feet, retreated and successfully blocked the initial strike with his shield. However, the relentless opponent persisted, maintaining the pressure and leaving Anthony with little room for anything but defense.

Simultaneously, another member of the assassin group, observing Anthony's engagement with the agile foe, triggered their unique skill, "Shower of Blades." A multitude of daggers was unleashed in a storm towards Emily.

Evading the first, second, and third daggers, Emily's luck ran out as the final blade found its mark, sinking into her shoulder. A sharp cry of "Ouch!" escaped her lips, revealing the pain inflicted.

Seizing the moment, the swordsman from the assassin group detected an opening and charged toward Emily. Amidst the assault, he shouted, "You shouldn't have betrayed us, Emily! Now, you'll share the same fate as him!" This ominous declaration made it clear that Emily was the immediate target, followed by Anthony, their original objective.

Immediately after that, there was a silence on the battlefield. Everyone started looking around to figure out where that surprising fireball had come from. Emily and Anthony, in turn, maintained expressions of disbelief at what had just happened.

"Ahhh!" David shouted in pain, continuing his words, "Show yourself, you coward! Do you find it amusing to attack people you don't know and have no idea what's going on? But let me give you a warning: turn back, because if you come at us, you'll die!" His voice echoed once again as his eyes scanned the possible directions from which the fireball might have originated.

Seeing that the person didn't appear, he shouted once more, "Show yourself, you coward!" assuming a peculiar position, crouching down and shouting with his mouth wide open.

"Hey! Don't call me a coward!" Ivy reacted, expressing her displeasure at being called that and feeling hurt in her feelings.

"Excellent! Finally, someone showed up! So, was it you who hit me with that fireball?" David inquired, addressing Ivy.

"Of course not. Attacking from a distance is a weak move!" Ivy replied, reinforcing her stance.

"No, it wasn't her; it was me!" announced Lucca, emerging from the shadows of the trees and revealing himself as the author of the unexpected fireball
