Marie's POV
"Wait, no. . . no. . . This can't be happening. No please," I was carrying a life inside me? I was now responsible for a life.
"If you need time, it's okay. You can come to register when you are ready."
"I want to go," I announced. "I want to go now,"
"You can go but make sure you come back,"
"Thank you," I started to go but stopped in my tracks "Please don't let anyone know about this"
The rest of the day was spent on my little bed. I knew nobody would find me since It's now a known fact that I passed out from work. Nobody needs to know that a life shared with a stranger was growing inside me.
The thought of what my life would now become occupied my mind through the past day and nothing of a solution had come to my mind yet. In fact, everything seemed all tangled. What would I do? Should I kill the baby? I just could not.
I couldn't. That would make me as evil as everyone who had looked down on me with contempt. But how was I to take care of a child when I can hardly take care of myself?
I looked over at the chair the important presence would occupy and the royal hall in general. Everything was now transformed and it wouldn't be long now before everyone would start to arrive and finally be ready to receive the alpha king. They will be the last to come.
"Stop looking and find a seat, Marie," Madam Christy whispered into my ear. I still have not told her what the doctor told me, when she asked, I only told her the doctor said I needed rest. That rest was the only thing I needed for my recovery.
"You too, Madam. Your neck will fall off trying to see every person come inside the hall."
"Are you not curious about the alpha king? I have heard many stories but is it not even better to see with your own two eyes? Nobody has seen him since he came back from finishing his master's degree and coming back to take over the alpha king title from his father. This is just a way to welcome him and get into his good grace."
"He might not be that worthy if the title was just handed over to him, you know? He would have to prove himself over and over again to be worthy of that crown," I knew it was not my place to rant.
But I know for one that most of these spoiled brats don't deserve anything at all and that's even more shameful than the people who put them in their positions.
Just then Eric and his sisters came inside the hall and everyone bowed their heads in greeting. Eric stood up straight, he was a fine man but also a coward.
Even though it was not my place to judge him, he could have stood his ground. There was no denying he felt something for me. Even if it had just been mere friendship or pity. It was something.
But he had thrown it out as if it didn't mean anything to him that he knew me. He had rejected me even before I could wrap my head around the gift the moon goddess had given to me through him.
I wondered if he felt it that night if he had felt the sexual rush in me while I had sex with the stranger that turned me into this.
This was the first time in weeks that I was able to just look at him steadily from afar. He had done a good job of avoiding me like a plague and truth be told, maybe that was a good idea. Maybe it was better that we never met each other again, for the rest of our lives if that was possible.
"Now we have come to the beginning of the ceremony," A speaker started.
"Marie, we have to move to the alpha king's side. We are in charge of his well being," Madam Christy whispered in my ear again.
"Up there? Nobody told me that. Please let me stay here," I pleaded but all fell on deaf ears. "You have rested enough just like you said the doctor told you, now it's time to work,"
She pulled me up and made us pass just beside the wall of the room as unnoticeable as possible.
Nobody paid us any attention, at least until I got to the front, in a small corner just beside the chair the alpha king was going to occupy. But it was sweet because now I got a full view of Eric where he sat, looking all gracious.
'Don't you blame our mate for what he did? I am fuming just as I am seeing him smiling like that as if he is the most innocent person in the universe?' Lily said, clearly not agreeing with me and my thoughts.
Blame? Of course, I blame him for a lot of things but I also cannot help but understand. At the end of the day, I am not what he need. He needs a complete package for a Luna. A warrior, a
beauty with brains, and a very high-ranking influential Luna to stand by his side any time and truthfully I am not all that.
Now, I even have more baggage than I started with. An innocent pup.
"Now the moment we have all been waiting for. . ." The announcer started, "Stand up and welcome the most gracious Alpha king into our midst. Let absolutely no one be seen sitting, whether young or old," He commanded, beaming from ear to ear and wanting to be noticed by the alpha king.
What I was more interested in was to be done with my assignment and get back to my seat where I could doze off without anyone noticing as I luckily waited for the ceremony to get done.
But what I didn't expect to see in a million years was the freaking stunning and handsome man that I had given my innocence to and who happened to be the father of the pup inside me was the stranger.
And here in front of me, the stranger had somehow become the alpha king!
