After the others had left the room, Derrick stayed, eyeing Rylan with a mix of curiosity and concern.
"So...do you want to talk about it?" he asked.
"Talk about what?"
Derrick leaned against a dusty table, his eyes studying Rylan.
"I don't think there's anything else to talk about, apart from the fact that we found you half-dead in the desert with a bullet wound, second-degree burns, and multiple other wounds that are too much for me to remember."
Rylan hesitated, grappling with the decision of how much to reveal. Could he trust Derrick with the truth?
Derrick saw how troubled Rylan looked after his question .
"sigh … forget it we all have enemies and secrets "
"?!"
rylan stared at the old man in surprise when he didn't push for more answers .
" Can I at least know your name kid ?"
there's no harm in telling him my name right ?
"yeah it rylan " he mumbled
"well nice to meet you kid , i'll leave you alone now we'll leave you some food here so rest well"
the old man finally exited the room leaving Rylan in peace.
sigh these people are suspicious they said they were a gang right ? so they are surely dangerous, I'll need to leave as soon as possible .
after i rested a bit and filled my stomach with the food they gave me i got up to look around , it appears like an abandoned two story building in the middle of the desert and i was on the upper floor had four rundown rooms , no one of the gangsters were here , i went downstairs carefully trying to not make any noise but it appears there's no one here as well .
"where the hell did they go?"
the place looked like a big garage , motor oil covering the floor and tools scattered everywhere , that brought up really bad memories for him so much that he started feeling dizzy looking for a place to sit rylan found a long table surrounded by chairs , looking closely at what on the table he found maps and a lot of papers Rylan tried to make sense of the papers, but reading was a skill he never learned back in the place he used to be, and no one around him knew how to read either.
'i don't know what they are about but i bet they're up to no good , i need to leave now since they're not here I'll just take some water and food and get out of here'
After filling up with some water and food, Rylan looked for the things he had before losing consciousness in the desert and the item that had kept him alive this long, his gun.
' where the fuck did they put it !'
I searched everywhere, but it seemed they had taken it. It was clear that they didn't trust me as much as I distrusted them. It was a bummer but I can't waste any more time. I'll have to leave .
I decided to leave through the back door, but it seems like my crappy luck will haunt me my whole life. The moment I opened the door, I came face to face with a group of people with shotguns. I didn't even have time to react.
"Hi~, Jinn gang bastard!"
One of the armed men hit Rylan with the butt of his shotgun on the forehead, making him lose consciousness.
