"Who did it? Who did that to him?"
Tsun sensed right away that his mood was deteriorated and the rage boiling inside him was reflected in his eyes.
"Who was it?" Ding asked again his patience wavering.
"Ding, listen to me and calm down okay..."
Tsun knew how much Kyle meant to Ding and that this information angered him so much and knowing Ding, if he had the information of the suspect, he wouldn't waste time in tracking them down and ending them. So he decided to lie keeping the person's information anonymous.
"Ding... I'm sorry but it happened so fast that we didn't manage catch the sniper.."
Ding threw his head back and laughed. His laughter started as a low chuckle before inclining into a sadistic laughter and Tsun involuntary shivered at the eerieness in his laughter. Once he quieted down, his gaze landed on Tsun and he could almost feel the murderous aura in them.
"You couldn't catch him?"
"That was..."
"Are you implying that a group of powerful and experienced 'killers' couldn't catch a mere 'killer' who is clearly of a lower rank?"
Ding's shoulders shook violently and he tried to steady his hands by bawling them into fists but this just made him tremble in anger. Tsun let out a sigh and pressed the buzzer on the desk requesting for some warm tea to be brought to the office immediately. The maid wasted no time and arrived with the tray seconds later.
"Thank you."
She bowed and exited the room the tension present in the room dense and suffocating. Tsun poured a cup and passed it to Ding who was now slumped over the chair with his eyes closed.
"Why Kyle?" he mumbled slightly opening his eyes ," why did they have to attack him? He's wanted nothing but a peaceful life among everyone. He..."
His words trailed off into a faint whisper and Tsun rubbed the back of his neck. He handed Ding the warm tea and he took a careful sip from it.
"Okay so first off, you need to stop looking so grim. I know it hurts knowing what happened to Kyle but do you think you should be grieving like that?"
Ding neither responded nor lifted his gaze from the cup in his hand. Tsun ran a frustrated hand through his hair and let out an exhausted sigh, he crossed over and took a seat by the desk. Ding watched as Tsun neatly placed the scattered papers into a folder. He emptied the cup and the warmth seemed like just what he needed.
"Hey I..."
A knock on the door disrupted him and Tsun raised his gaze towards the door.
"Come in!"
A young man in a neat suit timidly walked in with papers in hand and Ding's gaze followed him from the moment he walked in to when he walked out of sight. Once they were all alone, Tsun picked a copy of the papers and skimmed through it before passing it to Ding.
"Looks like the rival gangs are acting up."
"Interesting. I can't even remember the last time this happened," Ding said waving the paper in front of his face.
"I wonder who enticed them to rob from us. Normally, those bastards aren't bold enough to mess with us."
Ding stopped wafting the paper around and studied it carefully with his head rested on his palm.
"We lost quite the amount of materials huh?"
"Father will be furious if he ever found out."
Ding looked up from the paper and asked," How would he know if we don't tell him?"
Tsun raised his gaze to his eyes and smiled," Who was going to tell him anyway. It would put so much pressure on him and as a result, his illness would flare up. You and I will go retrieve the goods."
"And how are..."
Tsun shook a paper in front of his face cutting him off," We got the location right here."
Ding scowled and snatched the paper from him," They aren't very clever for gangsters."
Tsun chuckled at this relieved that the arrival of the new mission had managed to diverge his attention from Kyle. As Tsun sat reading every single detail on the papers, Ding stood by the shelf inspecting the firearms to use during the mission. He picked a dagger and gently wiped the blade with a piece of cloth. Its surface glittered faintly in the light captivating Ding.
"She's a beauty, isn't she?" Tsun asked.
"That she is."
"I knew you'd like it. That's why I had it made for you."
"Made?"
Tsun nodded his head and picked a revolver carefully inspecting it.
"Made from the lightest material too, sharp and light, the perfect weapon. Wouldn't you agree?"
Ding slipped the dagger into his trousers and straightened out the creases on his clothes. The two walked out of the house with the rival gang's base in mind. The leader of the gang crossed his feet over the table and peered at his subordinates across from him.
"What was that?"
The men lowered their gaze in submission and the leader pulled out a cigar, placed it in his mouth and turned to the lady on her left who was all but happy to light it for him. He took a deep puff, leaned his head back and let the smoke out through his mouth, which floated into the air in a circular cloudy shape. He took a few more puffs before settling his gaze on the men before him.
"You jerks lost what?" he asked voice thundering across the silent room.
He lowered his feet from the table and stood up. He walked towards one of the men and punched him straight across the face.
"What will we tell the boss now that we've lost something he asked us to retrieve?"
"That's easy considering you make it out of this place alive."
"Huh?"
The man whipped around and saw the two figures by the door. Ding and Tsun walked into the warehouse and looked around. The smell of smoke filled the room and Tsun wafted his hand as the uncomfortable smell got into his nose.
"This place smells awful, probably because there isn't any proper ventilation in here."
"Would you look at that, the heir and his trusty sidekick. To what do we owe this surprise?"
"Cut the crap! You have something that belongs to me."
"Who do you think you are walking in here and asking for something from me?"
"Better hand it over when am still being nice," Tsun said before adding," am in a good mood so why don't we avoid any blood baths? What do you say."
The man spit his cigar to the floor and stepped on it extinguishing it completely before turning to the two," You sure talk big. See here, there are only two of you against my men. Do you really think you can win in a fight against us?"
Tsun looked around the men before landing his gaze on the arrogant leader.
"Am going to tell you this one last time, hand over what you took."
