Rainer stood in the western part of the village. While the entrance was in the northern part of the village. The western part consisted residential area. Most of the less influential and middle-class people lived here.
Rainer stood there, staring up at the daunting 10-foot stone wall adorned with menacing iron spikes, and assessed his limited equipment.
At this time, there won't be many activities in this area.
With Zephyr's memory fragments, Reiner was well aware of the guard's patrolling schedule.
Initially, Reiner was confused as to why Zephyr possessed this knowledge.
However, he soon found the answer within the fragments of Zephyr's memories.
It turned out that people in this community were required to serve a mandatory one-year guarding duty at some point in their lives, much like military enlistment.
It feels the same as military enlistment. I wonder what would be my military friends doing on the earth.
Reiner became nostalgic for a moment. He had also completed his mandatory military service of two years.
He made many friends at that time.
It was a really good time. Except for the time spent with those muscle freak training commanders.
After reminiscing about his military service days for a few moments, Reiner became more calm and composed.
He took out a dagger from his suitcase. Initially, he wanted to enter the village through the entrance, so he hid his dagger in the suitcase.
However, it didn't seem to be necessary anymore.
The dagger had a blade approximately 6 inches (15 centimeters) in length, and the handle was about 4 inches (10 centimeters) long. Its compact yet sharp design made it a versatile tool for various tasks, including the improvised climb over the stone wall.
Reiner gazed up at the formidable stone wall, his eyes scanning for any potential handholds. He noticed a small, irregular gap between two massive stones about seven feet above the ground.
It was roughly triangular, no wider than his hand. The gap seemed to have formed naturally, with jagged edges and a bit of moss clinging to it.
It would be hard to slip into the village unnoticed, with the weighty suitcase in hand.
He turned his attention to the tattered woolen tunic he wore, its fabric already battered because of unknown reasons.
In the dim light at the entrance of the village, he began his makeshift operation. First, he carefully laid the suitcase down on the snowy ground.
Taking a moment to assess the tunic, he chose a portion of it that was particularly torn and frayed. With a swift but skillful hand, he tore the fabric to create a long, rough strip.
Now, he had the material needed to fashion a sling. He returned his focus to the suitcase and its sturdy handles. He secured one end of the torn fabric to one handle and the other end to the opposite handle, creating a makeshift harness.
Once satisfied with the stability of the arrangement, he slung the suitcase onto his back. The fabric tunic strip securely bound the suitcase, allowing him to carry it without difficulty.
With the suitcase now comfortably and discreetly tied to his back, he was prepared to proceed unnoticed.
After inspecting his surroundings, Reiner noticed a massive boulder placed far away.
He lifted that boulder and strategically positioned it beneath the intended jump point. The boulder is substantial enough to serve as a sturdy foothold.
It was tiring but necessary.
With a deep breath, Reiner took several steps back to build momentum.
As he sprinted alongside the wall, adrenaline coursed through his veins. His legs tensed, and with a powerful leap, they soared towards the wall.
Reiner adjusts his approach, aiming to reach the boulder with his initial leap. He wanted to use the boulder as a launchpad, pushing off it with his feet to gain additional height and distance. As he jumped from the boulder, he performed a powerful and well-timed leap toward the wall.
The suitcase on his back added to the challenge, but with the extra boost from the boulder, Reiner managed to clear the gap of around 7 feet.
In mid-air, he extended his right arm and thrust the dagger into the triangular gap. The blade found purchase in a crevice between the stones, making a satisfying scraping sound as it bit into the mossy surface. Reiner's grip on the hilt tightened, his muscles straining with the effort.
Argh.. it hurts.
Reiner felt his muscles straining.
With his weight supported by the dagger, he began to swing his body like a pendulum, gaining momentum.
While swinging, Reiner kept his body as close to the wall as possible to minimize the risk of the suitcase interfering with his movements. He sometimes had to adjust his posture and the angle of the swing to maintain stability.
As he swung, his feet lifted off the ground, and with each arc, he extended his legs towards the top of the wall.
In a heart-pounding moment, his boots grazed the wall's surface, and he managed to secure a foothold on a small outcrop on top of the wall.
The combination of his forward momentum and the dagger's grip allowed him to swing his legs up and secure a foothold on the top of the wall.
Reiner shifted his weight and the suitcase's weight in a controlled manner to keep his balance while keeping his feet on top of the wall.
Gasping for breath, he pulled himself up using the dagger as a makeshift handhold and pushed himself up with the help of the dagger.
With a powerful leap, Reiner cleared the gap and reached the top of the wall. His feet landed squarely on the wall's surface as he executed a graceful half-circle maneuver with his body, his fingertips lightly grazing the other side of the wall.
Reiner's agility and precise control allowed them to avoid the menacing spikes.
Reiner's body made a Wheel pose or upward-facing bow (you can also call it Chakrasana or Dhanurasana).
He had to stretch his torso slightly upward to ensure that the suitcase didn't get scratched against the iron spikes.
As his body completed the half-circle, he lifted his feet and elegantly dragged them to the other side of the wall.
With remarkable finesse, he released his hold from his fingertips and landed gracefully.
Oh, crap...
Unfortunately, Reiner stumbled slightly upon landing but quickly regained his balance.
Still, he crashed into the snow. The snow beneath him provided a soft landing, ensuring he emerged from this daring endeavor unharmed.
Instead of the well-lit and bustling main streets, he stuck to the dimly lit and less-frequented pathways, keeping to the shadows.
Aware of the village guards stationed at the entrance, Reiner used his knowledge of the village layout to slip through an unnoticed gap in the perimeter. This allowed him to avoid direct contact with the guards.
His footfalls were near-silent, almost imperceptible, as he moved carefully through the snow, further masked by the ongoing snowfall.
Reiner ventured deeper into the village, a phantom among the slumbering buildings. The night was his ally, allowing him to make a covert entrance without alerting anyone.
