Chapter 1 - It hurts

'It hurts!

My back hurts so badly! Damnit!'

The world of Reiner started losing colors. He suddenly felt an abnormal pain in his back as though someone had beaten him ruthlessly.

Even when my ex kicked me for breaking up, it didn't hurt this much!

He wanted to forget the pain and sleep.

However, he couldn't sleep. Was it the effect of his severe insomnia or his curiosity about the current situation?

He didn't know.

He felt like someone slashed his flesh with a knife countless times and kept twisting it inside.

"Argh," Reiner groaned, trying to lift his body, but he felt an incredible amount of weight on his chest. His arms didn't work efficiently and gave it out.

'It seems someone killed me while I was sleeping. How incompetent was that killer?

He should have done it at once.'

Reiner, who wasn't unfamiliar with these kinds of accidents, assumed. After all, it was natural for these kinds of accidents to happen in Florida.

'I have already sent my ex to jail. Did she send a hitman behind me?

Wasn't she dirt poor?

Nah, she made me pay bills when we went on dates. How would she even get money to hire a hitman?

Still, why do I have back pain? Shouldn't I be dead from excessive blood loss or something?

And it's really painful!

F**k, don't tell me I'm gonna die virgin!'

Was it perhaps because of stimulation or adrenaline rush, Rainer started feeling less pain compared to before?

Now it felt like someone was beating him with a third-class baseball bat.

'I have to work overtime tomorrow. Was it because of Assistant's absence leave?

Should I let myself die? But a new adaptation of LoL is coming tomorrow… '

Reiner was struggling to choose. However, he stopped it when he noticed something.

'Is it less painful now?

There seems to be some light… '

The darkness and blurry background, which was clouding Reiner's vision, started to lessen.

He blinked his eyes a few times, and broke away from his reverie.

'Huh? This isn't my room…'

While transitioning between his blurred vision and clear vision, he noticed changes in his surroundings. It wasn't his room.

'It's not even room!! '

Upon opening his eyes, he was met with a blinding, pristine whiteness.

While curious about the situation, he tried to move his body, but his body felt heavy, and sluggish, as if it was buried beneath layers of cotton.

However, it wasn't cotton.

'Why is it here?

Why is there a huge dead body of a wolf lying on my chest?!'

Reiner's eyes widened with a mixture of surprise and panic. The wolf's fur was a striking mix of grays and whites, its eyes frozen permanent, unblinking.

His heart raced as he looked at it. This heightened his sense of vulnerability in the unfamiliar, cold wilderness.

'What is happening with me? '

Even in Florida, things like this don't happen.

Reiner slowly tried to lift the lifeless body of the wolf.

As his hand came into contact with the fur, he felt something wet and sticky. Pulling his hands back, he saw his palms and fingertips smeared with dark crimson blood.

Eek…

It was still warm. Even though Reiner felt cold while lying on a snow field, he didn't want to get warmth this way.

He quickly deployed his other hand to lift the wolf's body. That's when he spotted it - a gleaming dagger lying in the snow not far from where his left hand was lying, a few moments ago.

It was covered with blood.

It was a haunting scene. Against the white snow, a dagger lay abandoned. Its blade, still covered with blood, bore evidence of recent violence. Dark crimson blood adorned the once-pure snow, creating a stark contrast.

It tainted the white landscape with its sinister hue, like a grotesque artist's brush stroke on a canvas of the winter.

'What happened here?

And why am I here? '

Despite having doubts like this, Reiner still moved his arms and lifted the wolf's body.

It looks heavier compared to the wolf I encountered in the past.

After a brief struggle, he succeeded in lifting the wolf's body and gently set it aside in the snow.

As he moved it, he still couldn't help but stare at his arms and fingertips covered with blood.

'Snow? Wolf? Blood? and Dagger?

What is the connection between these things? '

Reiner was completely taken aback. However, it wasn't the end of surprises for him.

"Ouch," Reiner winced in pain, as he tried to lift his torso. He felt a searing pain in his chest and a wet, warm sensation again. Looking down, his eyes widened in horror.

'Blood?'

There, on his chest, was a deep, jagged claw mark six inches long, with ragged edges.

It oozed blood in a steady, dark trickle, staining the snow around him. The mark was enormous, much larger than any wolf's claw could have caused.

'Gasp!'

Reiner took some deep breaths as he tried to compose himself.

He was feeling a plethora of emotions: surprise, confusion, and fear.

The skin around the wound was torn, and there were small bits of snow and dirt embedded in the injury.

"Ouch," Reiner winced as he touched the edges, feeling the searing pain shoot through his chest.

I need first-aid and serious treatment asap!

Fear coursed through his veins as he saw his seriously injured body through torn clothes. He tried to push himself and stand up.

But then he suddenly stopped. Because he witnessed an impossible scenario.

Is it healing itself?
