Chapter 167 - Chapter 166

"How long are we going to keep falling!?"

Dio shouted to Constantine, who was beside him.

The next place they entered was an endless fall with a beautiful cloudless blue sky and a yellow sun shining above them.

They've been falling for a few minutes, long enough to get used to the fall to the point where they can talk calmly.

"I don't know, can you see down there!?"

Constantine shouted back.

Dio had to shout back at him too because of the wind.

"No!"

There was nothing below them and just an endless, infinite fall.

Dio looked at the compass to try to find some direction, but the red arrow was more lost than they were while spinning wildly without stopping.

Damn it!

"I'm seeing water!"

Dio shouted to wake up Constantine.

They'd been falling for over four hours, and Constantine had become so used to the fall that he managed to sleep with a little help from his drink.

They're falling very fast.

The water suddenly appeared like everything in this place and gave Dio only enough time to warn him.

Even though Dio's shout startled him, Constantine quickly put his hand in front of his body and created a circle of fire with a five-pointed star in the center that covered his entire body.

"BLOODYY HELLL!!!"

Constantine shouted.

Dio didn't need to put up any magical defense.

Instead, he put his legs down to straighten his body, and his golem enveloped his entire body like a cocoon.

"BOOOM!"

"BOOOM!"

"I'm getting tired of this!"

Constantine shouted as he crawled out of the lake.

Dio didn't mind the change this time. At least they have ground to rest on and walk on.

"Let's sleep here tonight; this day has been exhausting."

Dio said to him.

They are now once again in the middle of a forest.

The lake is the only place untouched by the trees around them, and with only one sun high in the sky already moving, it won't be long before it gets dark.

They managed to gather some branches of the tree scattered on the grass and place them near the lake.

They stay as far away from the forest as possible, with the lake behind them.

So they won't have to worry about being attacked from behind, but that didn't really matter here, where an aquatic monster can appear out of nowhere.

...

Ten minutes later.

They built their camp with a small campfire and two large stones on each side, with the fire in the center.

"The conjured food dilemma, you came up with a very good solution for it."

Constantine chuckled while poking at one of the opened cans near the fire on the ground with a long stick.

"What was your solution?"

He stood up, took the silver flask from his pocket, and gave Dio an obvious look.

"Seriously, can you really survive just on alcohol?"

"I once went two weeks without eating anything except for a bottle of whiskey."

Constantine recounted while opening the flask and pouring some drink into his open can on the ground, as if he were seasoning it.

"Well, considering how many cigarettes you smoke a day, you really don't need to worry about that."

It was enough for him to put his hand back in his pocket to talk about cigarettes.

"BLOODDY HELLL!""

Constantine cursed and tossed the wet pack on the ground.

It seems the spell he used to dry his clothes didn't work on cigarettes. Dio didn't get wet, and the golem helped him with that.

"Tick!"

Constantine snapped his fingers, and a new pack with a seal appeared in his hand.

"Seriously? You don't bring food with you, but you have cigarettes?"

"Priorities, kid."

"Do you think we're close?"

Dio asked as he picked up his canned food from beside the campfire with his bare hands.

"Who knows? This place has no direction, and in places like this, it's never a journey from point A to point B."

"I know it's useless to say this loudly again, but all of this is your fault for altering the destination of a portal to a place you were banned from, stupid."

"Desperate measures, my friend, someday you'll understand."

Constantine told him with much more excitement about his flask than about his food.

"Constantine, what happened?"

Dio asked directly.

Constantine drank without stopping for ten minutes while he ate in silence before giving him the answer.

"When I was just a teenager in my incredibly misunderstood punk rock band, I messed up. "I got messed up when I became arrogant with an absurdly small amount of magical knowledge!"

"The biggest cause of death in young magicians."

"Yes, the biggest cause of death in young magicians is stupidity masked by

arrogance."

That's a fact that everyone in the magical world knows.

The number of deaths among the younger ones is higher than those who die, all because of inexperience and negligence when using magic.

"Well, you know the rest. After doing that, I spent all my time afterward trying to reverse it while putting every ounce of effort I could into gathering any information about magic from around the world, and when I really had a chance to achieve my goal last week, I ended up being banned, and here I am."

"You tried to free a soul from hell."

It's easy to understand this with his memories from his past life.

"Yes."

Constantine agreed and took another drink.

"You'd receive a lesser punishment if you were trying to steal a soul to use it for a sacrifice or as a power source."

"HAHAAHAHA"

Constantine laughed loudly, knowing it was true.

It is the same thing to free a soul from hell as it is to steal it and then make sure it gets to heaven, which the lord and all the devils there hate completely.

In other words, it wouldn't have been as bad if he had done this with bad motives than being banned for life.

"That Lucifer was just a small baron's soul, and he overreacted in his punishment."

Constantine drank for hours without eating anything until he fell asleep on his stone, where he lay without moving.

Constantine told him his story, and the plot he told him is similar to what happened in the comics, except for the part about the banishment.

It was a stupid and confident decision on Constantine's part to summon a demon.

Also, the silly goal was to control the demon and use it to promote his band's performance in the same place.

The result was no different, and everyone who was present to watch the performance was killed.

After that, Constantine was able to send the demon back to hell, but not before it took the soul of a child related to one of the band members.

"Finish your meal, we need to move."

Dio shouted at him.

Constantine is sitting on the rock in front of the extinguished campfire while eating from his can, which had been left open on the ground next to the fire since yesterday.

"I know, I know."

Constantine said this while getting up with his can in hand and his hands dirty from food.

After another look in the compass's direction, Dio pointed to him, and they entered the forest while moving away from the lake.

The rest of the journey was quite boring; they weren't attacked by giant carnivorous plants or stumble upon a cannibal tribe.

Finally, after crossing the forest for half an hour, they spot a city far away and perhaps their destination.
