She glanced at him, before returning her attention to the well-maintained path walk that was free of leaves or pebbles. Then she took a step forward while looking at the curved edge of her shoe.
"Epraim…"
"Hmm?" he said as he peeked at her face.
"What is this flower for?" she said as she rolled the stem with her thumb and index finger.
Epraim stepped in front of her and tipped the umbrella, so she could see his face clearly.
"What do you think, Sonia?" he said while gazing into her eyes.
Slowly, his gaze traveled down to her slender nose and full lips. When they showed no signs of parting, he returned his attention to her eyes. "Don't you know what carnations mean?"
Sonia's eyes constricted as his question echoed countless times in her head and a picture formed in her mind.
