Chapter 39 - The Huge Slime (2)

Kalle saw the immobile huge green slime suddenly move as it split its own body in two.

Although its body had shrunk and it was only as big as a goblin, it was still an abnormal size for a slime that was only a bit taller than a human's ankle.

Not only that, now there were also two green slimes instead of one with an enormous size.

Kalle gulped thinking that there might be 4 or even more green slimes if the huge slime had decided to multiply its body from the start where it hadn't lost about half of its body.

Fortunately for Kalle, it wasn't the case and Kalle only had to deal with two green slimes the size of a goblin.

However, he forgot that the huge slime was a different creature than the ordinary elemental slime.

Even with a body as huge as a car, the huge slime was still able to move at an extremely fast speed that was unseen by Kalle's eyes.

The ordinary green slimes weren't able to do that as Kalle could at least see their shadow move when they used their first skill.

But the huge slime which had a larger mass and weight could do it.

Now with a body way smaller than its original size, the goblin-sized green slime became even faster.

Kalle could sense the two green slimes had started gathering mana and he guessed that it would use the green slime's first skill to run away from his bombardment of fireball and mana bullet.

However, Kalle couldn't be more wrong as he saw the two green slimes once again disappear from his eyesight and he felt a large force crushing into his chest.

Kalle's body flew backward as the force was simply too much for him to handle and Kalle couldn't help but to check what had caused him to fly.

The answer was none other than a goblin-sized blob that had charged head-first in Kalle's direction and crashed onto his chest.

'How did it become so fast!? The ordinary green slimes were no way as fast as this!'

Kalle then thought of something when he remembered the huge wind blade that could most likely slice a car in half easily that the green slime used before.

'Does this huge slime actually have the ability to enhance the ability that it took from the elemental slimes…?'

Kalle soon landed on his feet and took a good look at his chest.

He was surprised that he was still alive despite having made contact with the creature that could melt muscles and bones in a matter of seconds.

But he was even more surprised to see that his chest was still intact.

While it's true that his clothes had been melted into nonexistence, his chest, skin, and bones were still intact.

Although it looked like his skin got a nice burn on it and Kalle actually felt constant stinging pain on his chest, that was it.

Kalle didn't lose his skin or his entire upper body from being in contact with the damned slimes.

'How…?'

As if the answer came to him on his way, a familiar dragon's screech came from above as Edric flew in Kalle's direction.

Edric opened his mouth wide as he shot a mana bullet toward the goblin-sized green slime standing in front of Kalle, seemingly just as confused as Kalle as to why it couldn't melt its target.

But its confusion soon disappeared as the goblin-sized green slime sensed the large amount of mana that Edric had shot toward it.

Once again, the unique green slime showed its prowess as it used the green slime's first ability to dodge the mana bullet that Edric had sent to it, which was an impossible feat for the ordinary green slimes due to them being unable to sense mana fast enough to dodge.

'It really is stronger than the ordinary green slimes…'

Kalle saw Edric fearlessly charge onto the green slime that had dodged its mana bullet as Edric cast another follow-up mana bullet.

The green slime sensed another incoming enemy and soon determined Edric's location.

Not letting Edric do as he wanted, the unique green slime cast its own wind blade toward the flying Edric in an attempt to slice its enemy in two.

However, Edric couldn't be caught off guard by its mana sense which was only slightly below Kalle's, which was very high.

The second the green slime gathered mana to cast a spell, Edric began flying in patterns as he dodged the wind blade that came to him next.

Although Edric was prepared, he certainly didn't expect that the wind blade that the unique green slime sent towards him was not that much slower than his own mana bullet.

As a result, the little dragon had to jerk his body to the side to dodge the vertical wind blade aiming to slice his little body in two.

However, the slime seemed to have calculated this to happen.

The second Edric dodged its attack, the green slime once again cast another skill.

The green slime then disappeared and appeared once again, this time in Edric's prior location as it had used the first skill to once again ram its body towards its target. Which was a very clever way of attacking considering the nature of its very corrosive body.

"Edric!!!"

Just like Kalle, even the little dragon that had wings and could fly was still sent flying from the green slime's charge that carried an extraordinary amount of momentum from its sheer speed.

Kalle was about to curse the slime and all of its ancestors when he saw what happened and thought that Edric had been melted by it.

But when he heard the familiar screech, Kalle stopped and remembered the answer as to why he could withstand the slime's corrosive body now.

Seeing the little dragon come back flying, Kalle remembered one of the little guy's skills.

'Mana-Hardened Scales… That must have been the skill that protected me and made him unscathed…'

Even tougher than its father, Edric didn't even get a scratch from the slime's charge as his scales were harder and tougher than metal, added with the mana-hardened scale skill, further enhancing Edric's defense.

"Thanks a lot, Edric!"

After thanking his little companion, Kalle then observed his surroundings once more.

He realized that while he and his little companion were dealing with one part of the dungeon boss, the other green slime from the huge slime was causing hell to his goblin army.

The goblin warriors and ordinary goblins that spread all over the place had been eaten one by one by the other unique green slime as they couldn't defend themselves against the unfair skill of the unique slime.

'How could it sense them even though it was very far away from the goblins…? Does this particular slime have eyes or something?'

Kalle didn't know how the slime had done it, but he at least knew one way of dealing with them.

'Let's see what you can do after this, you damned bouncy vile creatures…'
