Chapter 2 - Twisted domain

…I'm so tired.

My body hurts. It feels heavy too. Guess I slept on the wrong side of the bed today.

Maybe I'll get up and stretch a bit. Yea, that should do the trick.

Upon awakening, Foster feels an excruciating pain in his head. It felt like his head was being smashed in and ripped apart, screaming in agony, he begins to feel dizzy and slowly loses his balance.

He tries to grab the nearest object around to keep himself from falling but he fails, collapsing to the ground like a lifeless body.

As he loses consciousness, he receives strange flashes with images of people he knows in his head.

But they look distorted and wrong. He sees vision of classmates, family and the others, he thought

What's with these images? Is this what they mean by life flashing before your eyes.Am I dying? Really, I'm going to die without knowledge of the cause of my death. This is so worthless

As time passed, he slowly awakes.

I don't understand… I thought I died… …I guess I was just over thinking it, maybe it was just exhaustion…

He begins to access his situation. Still laying on the ground, with his vision is blurred. Trying to get up one leg after the other, he slowly begins see a bit better.

As gains he sight back, he is struck by a frightening scene. He sees a dark and twisted landscape before him. It was like a distorted reflection of the world he knows, but everything is wrong.

The sky is filled with dark churning clouds that twist and writhe like living things. They seem to whisper calling out in a voice that is almost human, but not quite.

The shadows on the ground reach out towards Foster, like fingers grasping for his feet. He can feel their cold touch on his skin, and it makes him shiver.

He's not sure if he's dreaming or if this place is real. It all feels so surreal, but so vivid and intense.

The longer he looked, the more he starts to feel dizzy and nauseous.

This proves it, I died and went to hell…

He decides to pull through and endure in order to understand the situation he's found himself in.Moving forward, his feet felt heavy like he was being dragged down.

He walks for what felt like hours till he arrives at a forest.

The forest is dark and eerie, with shadows everywhere. The trees are tall and twisted, their branches reaching out like gnarled fingers.

The leaves are a deep, dark green, and they rustle softly in the breeze. There's a thick layer of moss on the ground, and the air is cool and damp.

The forest is completely silent, except for the rustling of the leaves and the faint sound of running water in the distance. A thin mist hangs in the air, making everything seem hazy and surreal.

With no where left to go but forward he heads into the forest.

As Foster walks through the forest, he feels a sense of dread and unease. The trees seem to loom over him, and the shadows feel like they're closing in around him.

The air is so still and quiet that it's almost suffocating. He feels like he's being watched, and he can't shake the feeling that something is following him through the trees.

He keeps looking over his shoulder, but he can't see anything behind him.

As he walks through the dark forest, there was a low growling sound he heard.

He freezes up, afraid to move. And out of the shadows, a huge, black beast comes charging towards him. He tries to run, but he's not fast enough.

The creature swipes its claws at him, and he feels a sharp pain in his leg. He stumbles and falls, and the creature looms over him, snarling.

It's about to strike again when suddenly, the forest goes quiet. The creature disappears, and Foster is left alone in the dark forest, hurt and confused.

It hurts, it hurts so bad

This isn't hell...

It's a nightmare...I must be sleeping...

I have to wake up...

But he then realised that his wounds hurt so much for it to be a dream.

Suddenly, he hears a sharp crack behind him, like a tree branch breaking. He whirls around, but there's nothing there. Then, he sees something moving in the corner of his eye. He turns, but it's gone.

Scared and hurt, he starts to panic. He feels like the forest is playing tricks on him, trying to make him lose his mind.

He's sweating, and his heart is racing. Then, he hears the sound again, this time closer. He spins around, and sees a figure standing among the trees.

It's tall and thin, and it's wearing a hooded robe that covers its face. The figure just stands there, watching him.

Foster was scared but this was the first time he saw something that looked human. He therefore decides to interact with it.

He talks a deep breath and tries to speak but his voice comes out as a croak.

Who are you?

The figure doesn't respond. Foster takes a step forward, and the figure mirrors his movement.

It's like it's mimicking him. Foster feels a surge of fear, and he turns to run. But as he does, he feels something grab his arm.

A cold, bony hand grips his wrist, and he can't move.

The grip on his wrist feels like it's draining the life out of him. The figure pulls him closer, and he can see the hood start to slip down, revealing the face underneath.

The face is pale and gaunt, and its eyes are sunken and hollow. The figure's mouth opens, and a dry, raspy voice says,

You cannot leave.

With fear in his tone, he replies

Wh...why can't I leave

The figure's reply is quiet and menacing.

You are a part of this place now. You belong here.
