The leisurely sunlight from outside the window bathed the room, but no one inside could find joy in it.
This was indeed troublesome and incredibly hard to bring up. Unless one had unshakeable confidence, convincing the innkeeper to divulge this was impossible.
But what else could be done? As it stood, this was the only path left for him to take.
Either agree or fail; those were the only two possibilities, no third option existed.
"Belit, that guy, he said that as long as I could convince you, he would agree to help me, provided I could persuade you."
That was everything the innkeeper knew, nothing more.
He did dredge up the courage, albeit embarrassingly, to utter these words.
Surprisingly, the apothecary's response contradicted this. He felt that such a thing was only natural, with no difficulty attached.
He didn't take malicious pleasure in mocking the other party. That was something only a fool would do.
