After a moment of contemplation, the town guard captain decided to answer the question.
"You are right, I am the head of the local guard, and therefore responsible for the safety of this town. I must tell you, your men have become a threat to this town."
Violet watched this man, standing bravely in front of her, even having the courage to outright refuse her.
Without a doubt, whether or not he was greedy, at the very least, he was clear about his responsibilities.
Even if outnumbered, even if the difference in battle strength was immense, he still had to make a stand.
"I admire your courage. Sir, give me that document," Violet said, motioning her hunter to hand over the paperwork.
The hunter delivered the letter, sealed with the wax stamp of the shadowy Imperial Seal, to the captain's hand.
Whenever conflicts could be resolved with words, it was best not to waste more energy.
And Violet realised that the man standing in front of her could be made use of.
