After Violet had sent the fellow away, Salton walked over to her, appearing to have something to say.
Violet keenly noticed the change in his expression and asked him, "What is it? Is there a problem?"
If there were no problem, he most certainly wouldn't approach her.
There must have been some reason for him to approach her, Violet thought to herself.
Then she questioned him further, and Salton hesitated before replying to Violet's inquiry.
"Madam, I don't think you should be doing this," he advised in a kindly tone.
Violet grew curious; did she mess up somehow? Or had she made a misjudgment?
This man is intelligent, he wouldn't speak up without good reason.
At this stage of the proceedings, everyone could see Salton's loyalty.
Maybe he simply wanted to cultivate a good reputation, or perhaps he wanted to align himself with a certain moral perspective.
Regardless, almost everything he had done thus far had been beneficial to Violet.
