Talented and powerful Blood Beasts of the Demon Race were eventually driven to extinction by the Human Race, largely due to problems of inheritance.
While human warriors grew stronger with each generation, there was little change among the Demon Race.
Innate strength bred innate arrogance. Even a mighty Demon King like the Blood God did not understand the relationship between stages of Spiritual Power; nor did he know that Realm Hearts adrift in the Endless Void, deprived of nourishment from Spiritual Power, could never rebirth Spirit Spirits.
Thus, as the Blood God saw no sign of the Spirit Spirits awakening, his restlessness grew; not only due to endless solitude but also due to his inner worries.
Trapped for a millennium, his familiar Xiehe had long since ceased to exist. If anything in the world still mattered to him, it was only his arch-enemies and old friends.
