In the forest, towering trees stood everywhere, their branches lush and leaves thick, blocking out light and casting a deep shadows around them.
The sky was covered with dark clouds, pressing down, feeling overwhelmingly oppressive. Among the huge trees, one could see various nameless weeds and shrubs that were taller than a man.
Su Yu, Zhang Zhongmou, Qin Jiagui, Ning Yan, Ma Ziye, and the rest of the thirty-person group, armed with wooden sticks, police batons, and baseball bats, moved deeper into the forest amidst the weeds and overhanging branches. Unexpectedly, when they had not walked a few hundred meters, a "rustling" sound emerged.
Suddenly, all thirty of Su Yu's group members halted. A horde of green-skinned monsters erupted unexpectedly from the tall weeds and shrubs, trapping them in a tight circle.
"Ah," someone couldn't help but scream in surprise. Panic surged within the group of thirty as countless green-skinned monsters suddenly emerged, leaving everyone's hearts pounding in fear.
At a glance, Su Yu noticed that there were at least a dozen of these green-skinned monsters. Giving them no time to think, the monster's sharp roars echoed as they pounced from all sides.
"Only fifteen. It is just half our number. No need to fear." Suddenly, a woman's voice echoed out, careless and nonchalant. Then, Su Yu watched as Ma Ziye, a foreign language major, rushed forward.
Among the twelve special power holders in this group, aside from Su Yu, Ma Ziye was the one who had killed the most green-skinned monsters. She came from a family that ran a martial arts gym and was known for her strong martial arts background.
Su Yu saw her rush forth with a unique stride, different from an average person.
Without time to think, the green-skinned monsters, wielding their wooden sticks, charged at him. In the face of danger, Su Yu had no choice but to ignore the burning pain in his right shoulder, using his left hand to swing at a green-skinned monster with his stick.
On the back of his hand, four black scales emerged. The special power that surged within his left arm was now almost four times stronger than a green-skinned monster. With just one swing of his stick, he forced the attacking monster to retreat more than ten steps before it tripped and fell onto the ground.
Even the simple-minded green-skinned monster appeared startled on its ugly face.
"Ah ——"
From another side, two wails echoed. Su Yu couldn't help but turn his head, just in time to see two people fall, their bodies having been hit by a wooden stick, red and bloody. One look and he knew they weren't going to make it.
Qin Jiagui bellowed, clutching his wooden stick and smashing it heavily. It clashed with the stick of a green-skinned monster, making a dull "thump" in the air. Both sides were pushed back, appearing evenly matched.
Another tall man seized the opportunity, striking his club onto the back of the green-skinned monster's head.
The green-skinned monster roared in agony, swinging back its arm and hitting the man with a "bang".
The tall man was a gym teacher at a school, strong and healthy. But a blow from the green-skinned monster collapsed his chest and shattered his sternum. Blood seeped from his mouth, nose, and ears.
With his mouth wide open, he took a few steps back, seemingly trying to say something, but then another blow from another green-skinned monster came to the back of his head. Fresh blood sprayed out, spilling his brain all over -he died instantly.
Su Yu, who had just fended off a green-skinned monster, turned his head and was shocked at the sight.
The man who died was their gym teacher. He was a lively and humorous man, often joking with the boys, without the typical airs of a teacher. While they didn't share a deep bond, they were indeed quite familiar.
Seeing him die so tragically, Su Yu instinctively rushed over. Along with a few rapid swings from his stick, he brutally assailed one of the green-skinned monsters.
The monster tried to parry, but his wooden stick was knocked out of his hands by Su Yu's blow. The following blows from Su Yu landed squarely onto the monster, collapsing its skull and chest, dying more miserably than the dead gym teacher.
The other monster that was initially struck flying by Su Yu struggled to get up, but was surrounded by two students wielding baseball bats. Though they didn't have special powers, they mercilessly beaten the downed green monster with their bats, splattering green juice everywhere. Suddenly, one of them became aware of something in his right hand. On the back of his right hand, bizarre black vein-like spots had emerged.
The green monster on the ground had been beaten to death by their combined efforts. The final killing blow was delivered by this student so the black crystal in the monster's body was absorbed into his right hand. He had become a new special power holder.
On the battlefield, blood splattered and screams were continuous, some from the students and teachers and some from the piercing shrieks of the green monsters. People and monsters were continuously falling.
Suddenly, Qin Jiagui screamed. His wooden stick, along with the one held by the green monster, was knocked out of their hands, causing them both to tumble over.
"Die!" Qin Jiagui bellowed with a murderous voice, his right arm coiling and choking the monster's neck. However, the monster was wrapped around him, his claws scratching explosively, leaving bloody cuts on his chest, causing him to howl in pain.
His right arm surged continuously with special power. His grip getting stronger and stronger, and with a series of distinct "crack" sounds, the green monster's neck was broken by him.
After Su Yu hit another green monster, sending it flying like a dried straw, he realized he had gained experience on how to fight these green monsters from the ones he'd killed from yesterday to today. More than ten green monsters had died by his hands.
With the addition of having several times the special power of a green monster, the horde that once used to be terrifying for Su Yu were now starting to seem somewhat vulnerable.
On the back of his left hand, the fifth black scale had emerged. More than half of the fifteen monsters were dead. Su Yu brandished his stick, smashing open the stick held by a monster. His special power gave him an advantage over the monster, easily shattering its opponent's grip, and discarding its stick. Seizing upon them stumbling back, he stepped in and swung his stick once more, crushing the monster's head.
This whole sequence of actions hardly lasted for a blink of an eye or two, enough to take out a green monster.
Unconsciously, others slowed down, watching wide-eyed as Su Yu, with his right hand hanging in front of his chest, wielding his stick with only his left hand, forcing his way through the green monsters. His actions echoed a powerful tiger driving a herd of sheep with invincible prowess.
A soft scream rang out, pulling everyone back to reality. They saw Ma Ziye, from the foreign language department, make a sidestep and kick a green monster on the chest. Her kick was terrifyingly powerful. The green monster shrieked, with its body flying backward heavily.
Qin Jiagui had just snapped a monster's neck, feeling the surge of greater special power inside his right arm. His right palm now had a large spot the size of a fingernail, gleaming with a metallic black luster. Seeing Ma Ziye's performance, he mumbled to himself, "So her special power is in her right foot..."
